This is my new favorite list... I've only played one game with it but it was just amazing for my play style. I have never really gone the DTF shield regen route, but this just makes it crazy with two sources of regen with some solid firepower.


Thoughts?

I would consider dropping R2D2 from Biggs to get Wedge an Engine Upgrade...I have never regen'd enough with Biggs to justify the investment on a ship that will be dying sooner rather than later.

My one complaint is with BB-8/PtL, Wedge can perform 3 actions (in addition to the free Barrel Roll) per round... but sadly he only has 2 (TL and Focus). See the above suggestion.

Hrm...the way I saw it was you reveal a green maneuver, perform the free barrel roll, then trigger PTL off of that barrel roll for a Focus, then move with the green maneuver and clear stress from PTL, take a target lock action...so three actions INCLUDING the barrel roll. Or am I missing something? PTL is once per round...

I also understand the engine argument, but my counterpoint is that R2-D2 is simply a boss when you have Draw Their Fire out there, and engine makes me want to leave range 1 of Biggs too easily. It would be good to have IF Biggs dies though, so it's worth considering. A few heavily modified HLC shots, for example, from Brobots would leave Biggs as space dust pretty quick, so I would just have to be ready to fire back and put on some hurt in that same round. And if that is truly Biggs' weakness, perhaps R4-D6 would work and I could spend 3 points elsewhere.

Think it's just because the actions on the standard x wing are kinda limited, I'd wedge has engine upgrade then he now has a much larger range of actions he can now perform with PTL. So rather then choosing 3 actions out of 3 actions you get to choose 3 actions out of 4

I ran something similar the other night. It was biggs with R-7 and stealth (which I'm probably changing to hull), Kyle with recon and ICT, Poe with PTL BB8 and AT. Biggs would TL and Kyle pass the focus. Didn't lose Biggs thanks to r7 and Kyles ION

Very interesting setup. It seems more defensive in a way to support Biggs, but lacks the shield regeneration and splitting fire quality. Less overall firepower but more control. It will be interesting to see if Biggs makes a comeback. I am actually not very experienced with him, as my favorite pilot has been Tarn + R7, but the more I play him the better I will get. Some players may not even be used to playing against him these days, so maybe he'll make a comeback.

nope, you're correct here. PTL is once per round, and so Wedge is getting 3 actions (should be including the free roll)

the EU is still a legitimate point of concern for maneuverability, however, but I personally find that makes Wedge inexcusably expensive. At the same price range, I'd rather just take BB-8 + PTL + thrusters Poe who doesn't hit as hard but also doesn't crumple like a paper tiger

can't say I'm much enamored with the idea of DTF poe. Luke could do the same job and better (with a shield regen astro, such as r2-d2) for only 2 more points than Poe naked.

Hi, I like your build and the addiction of T-70 to the list, in really sweet configuration.

Please get some playtests with my 2 cents for your list, swap Biggs and Wedge for this setup:

Jek Porkins with Expose, Experimental Interface and R2 Droid - 34 points

How can I justify my choices?

It's quite easy.

Biggs is going to die, as always - boosting him with 1 shield per round is not enough to keep him alive. R4-D6 droid will reduce incoming damage - and this is a thing! Screw stress tokens on him, it's about survival.

And Jek Porkins... well, this kind fatty is boosing your list with 5 attack dice at Range 2-3 and .... 6 (!) attack dice at Range 1. I think it's very devastating on anything I can imagine. What's more, his PS7 is not that bad!

All valid points of concern, regarding the expensiveness of Wedge and lack of Engine. If I take off R2-D2 from Biggs and go with R4-D6, I will probably end up putting R2-D2 on the third ship...whoever replaces Wedge. My initial inkling was to put Luke in there, but I realized that with three ships I really needed to have more firepower. I felt that way, anyhow. Flipping to a total defensive stance, I could use Luke with R2-D2 and Lone Wolf (after Biggs dies split up to get LW triggers) and have 3 points for hull on Biggs or Luke and replace Poe's DTF with Crack Shot or Adrenaline Rush.

That being said, I think Poe fits in with DTF very well in this list. Being able to draw from Biggs is not the only purpose of DTF, but protecting Wedge once Biggs goes down is the other reason it is there. Poe also has that additional shield to deal with it easier. Wedge is there as the bigger threat with a lot of firepower. TL+Focus with his ability is just crushing to most ships and least effective against Decimators.

Like I said earlier, HLCs are the most difficult to deal with the original list. DTF does nothing there and Biggs can be two shotted. R4-D6 might be the answer here, but then I am going to put more points into a third ship or split between Poe and the new guy. I like the ability to regen for Biggs because it helps against nearly all other lists. If I were to drop Wedge and use R4-D6 on Biggs, Miranda might be the answer in the K-Wing with TLT.

I think I'd rather have BB-8 PTL Wedge over Jek, for the same points and higher PS. Wedge's ability also isn't a detriment to his defense once Biggs goes down.

I want to also keep Poe here because of his synergy with R5-P9. Perhaps if I did the above change with Miranda, Poe could get PTL?

New list would be something like:

Biggs Darklighter [R4-D6] (26)

Miranda Doni [Twin Laser Turret] (35)

Poe Dameron [R5-P9, Push the Limit, Autothrusters] (39)

The strategy here would be to Fly in close formation and Miranda would take an early TL on the main enemy threat. Miranda would not spend the TL right away but save it for a range one 4 dice attack with primary weapons at the expense of a shield. The TLT should do fine at range with little modification to start. Biggs vacuums up space fire while Poe puts on some hurt. Once Biggs goes down, Doni and Poe can go wherever they please, regening shields and boosting/slamming out of arcs. This solves the DtF issue, the over expense on Biggs, mitigates heavy fire on Biggs with R4-D6, adds overall firepower (or keeps it about even compared to Wedge) while keeping a defensive mindset, and allows Poe to boost to range three/out of arc and regen a shield in the same round.

Thoughts on the new version of Poe Biggs?
