Empire Civilian miniatures to coincide with WHFRP release?
You know, one of the advantages D&D players have, they get their minis cheaper and already painted!
Yeah, but warhammer players get good ones.

There are people, who don't have enough free time to paint minis. Also, many of us won't spend money on expensive GW miniatures, paintbrushes, paints and accessories, when he already spent a few hundred dollars on books. And there are a few, who aren't quite talented or dextrous - believe me, a pre-paint would still look better, than one mini painted by me.
Prepaints are often more expensive then non prepainted (I would not ever buy prepaint, thats shobby production value).

thats why people like me own full painting services. $6.00 US per human sized figure (28mm) any work on bases .25 cents US and assembly .25 cents US and thats about the cheapest around and you can check out http://www.youtube.com/user/Herfer for videos of my work. NOW on the topic of pre painted mini's......yeah they suck.....i repaint ALL of mine cuz they are junk
sorry bout that......idk how that happened......odd

Painting supplies don't have to be expensive. There are better & cheaper alternatives to the "Official" Citadel paints & Modelling tool (IMO using the Citadel crap is a ripoff).

I must agree on this; there are several other acrylic paint brands, and the green stuff you get in seperate tubes are of better quality and cheaper than the stuff GW is trying to push on us. A stribe of yellow and blue already in contact is a sick joke, you'll get very non uniform green stuff when some of the stuff already has hardened!
Get a grip GW; you act like you're the only one selling hobby stuff!
And after all I think Jay owes us a session demo video

Most prepaints are butt ugly. But.......
I use Minis for RPGs, not War Games-as such there are times I will look at prepaints. Usually, when I do it is weird stuff, most mini companies either don't make, or want way to much for.
About the only time I will look at prepaints is 1) If it is something I really don't care about, really don't want to paint, but want a model of (Wolves, giant spiders, rats, etc.), and 2) is the prepaint the less expensive option.
I mean lets face it if you could get 6 prepaint plastic D&D wolves for $6.25 or 2 wolves from Reaper for 6.99 to 12 $'s depending on which model you like best?
I know which ones I opted for...'cuz I am a cheap bastich...

i use the paints because they work for my style of painting and they have made them equal Reaper and and Foundation in how runny they are so all in all its not too different and around here.....reapers are more expensive
but thats all i use from GW, i get EVERYTHING else from local shops or Online

GW have a rather interesting pricing policy - if people are buying their stuff for the price it's currently at, they increase. They don't stop until people stop buying - at which point they hold it for a while until they think it's time to try increasing it again. We might not be buying their paints, but other people are, so they'd be foolish to the prices.
Those models have been circulating for a few years now, hopefully they'll be released one day but I remain skeptical
They are derived from Blood on the Reik a book of sketches of Empire civilians and Warhammer Critters, well worth getting

That's interesting. I know of Blood on the Reik, but this is the first time I've come across the minis. Thanks!

Here's a whole other angle on that. Most of us are painting and some sculpting our own miniatures. But when it comes down to it you can easily use a dice or a pawn from som other game with no details to present your character. I wouldn't do it but it is just as operational as with painted miniatures. Of course the atmosphere it gone when you use 'sticks and stones' , but it's operational.
BTW the mordheim range from the notorious GW can be used as minis for the WFRP, for example the frenzied mob from the mordheim range:

Indeed, the Mordheim range has a bunch of very suitable figures. I never really got into that game but I bought a lot of the miniatures just to use in WHFRP.
It's not GW minis, but this is Warhammer definitly.

I have to say thanks here because I forgot:

sorry guys...
@ bernh, those are not GW? Could you tell me who makes them? They certainly do have the 2nd Ed. WFRP look . What with all the skulls and stuff.

That is to bad. I wonder if they really intend to release them, at all. It's difficult enough finding Mini's that really suit WFRP well. Hell, its hard finding minis that are not just a bunch of armored adventurers/ soldiers for any fantasy game these days.....

Those are made by some Russian firm, again inspired by Blood on the Reik
