Edge of Darkness IC

By ColonelCommissar, in Star Wars: Age of Rebellion RPG

Oro finds an open window on the ground floor not far from the door and peeks out. He steadies his pistol and chooses a nearby target.

(Since I hadn't been in position I'll use my maneuver to do that and then take a shot. I suppose I'll use one of Toco'so Boosts if that's cool. Is everyone in the house at medium range?)

The ground floor is at short range from the street. Jaspor, could you use blue to separate IC and OOC text?

Toco looks down the street. He can clearly see that the Rebels are severely outnumbered. This was plainly a trap, and the cell is being overwhelmed.

Have any orders been given by Command yet? Hold or retreat? I do understand things just happened.

You try to tune in to the comms network, but it is only a mess of conflicting signals. Few orders can be heard over the screams for help or calls to direct fire.

Grimacing, Rax draws a bead on the nearest stormtrooper. Got a feeling we're going to be driving out of here sooner than we thought.

Rax is doing Aim + fire. Are the enemies still at medium range, and is he making use of Toco's 2nd boost?

"**** IT, HOTDOG! NEXT TIME YOU SAY 'BLUE MILK RUN' I'LL SHOOT YOU MYSELF!" Geoff screamed at Rax, careful to not use his real name. I hate it when people taunt the odds.

Reaching around, Geoff starts shooting his hold out at the stormtroopers, more to distract them than any tactical advantage. As he does so, the doctor also looks around, seeing if there's any wounded that he can try and grab before they leave. Not the most efficient use of my time, but better than nothing!

[Action: I'm going to aid Rax (a.k.a. Hotdog) with his shooting, if possible. That should add a blue die to his pool. I'm also going to see who else is wounded that is within reach of me moving and grabbing.]

Short range shot : 2eA+1eP+1eB+1eD 2 successes, 1 threat

a--.png a--.png p-s-s.png b-s.png d-f-th.png

Oro shoots at the nearest Stormtroopers and hits.

[5 base damage + 2 success = 7 damage. I can take a strain for the single Threat unless you have another idea for it.]

"Oh c'mon!" Rax complains as he unloads into the closest group of Stormtroopers.

Attack roll : 1eP+4eA+1eB+1eD+1eS 1 success, 7 advantage
Weapon attachment adds the Setback die and 1 damage. Attachments also add 1 threat and 1 success for first attack of the encounters, making for a total of 2 successes and 6 advantage. Base 6 + 2 successes + 1 from attachment = 9 damage, and triggering critical twice.
Edit: adding Tear's boost:
Extra Boost : 1eB 0 successes, 2 advantage
Not enough to trigger another critical or finish off that last Stormtrooper, so I'll go ahead and use those two to pass the boost on down the line.

Rax's shots blast into the Stormtroopers in front of the transport, cutting down two and badly injuring a third. Oro's blasts hit another Stormtrooper yet they do little damage.

"Woooahhh!!!" as you all start shooting.

also, I'll shoot off my Blaster pistol towards the stormtroopers

What difficulty? Short?

Short range blaster pistol : 1eA+1eP+1eD 1 failure, 2 advantage, 1 Triumph

CeeTee's shot clips the Stormtroopers to the left of the transport, leaving them unwounded but confused and vulnerable.

There's a boost and an upgrade to the next person to shoot at the Stormies to the left of the transport

The Stormtroopers to the right of the transport now aim their blasters and open fire into the house's upper levels.

Targeting Toco : 2eP+1eA+1eB+2eD 4 successes, 3 threat
p-s-s.png p-s.png a-s-s.png b--.png d-th-th.png d-f-th.png

9+4=13 damage minus soak

The Stormtrooper's shooting hits a street light near the window, plunging the house's immediate surroundings into darkness.

I'm imposing a Setback due to darkness on all Ranged or visual checks. Here's initiative:

The other Imperial teams now open fire on your positions, save for the single stormtrooper remaining from the group in front of the truck, who pulls back into cover.

Single Stormtrooper moves behind the transport, out of sight from the ground floor and with 2 Setback to enemies above.

Aim+Fire

Targeting Rax : 2eP+1eA+1eB+1eD+1eS 4 successes, 1 threat

9+4=13 damage for Rax

In exposing himself, one Stormtrooper takes a glancing hit from a stray bolt.

Targeting CeeTee : 2eP+1eA+1eB+1eD+1eS 1 success, 2 advantage
p-s.png p--.png a-a-a.png b-a.png d--.png s-th.png

9+1=10 damage for CeeTee, who takes an extra Setback for his next action

It's a PC action now, which is iSpy's

Remember people, you've got Destiny points. Flip 'em like you mean it

Toco leans back from the window as shots blizzard it. " Need a way out. " His mind flashes back to entering a building - a back door, leading out into the street behind the house, the one facing the university.

There's an unbroken run of 5 PCs from now, so everybody (except one) do your thing. Just so you know, it's one maneuver to get up or downstairs within the house, and one maneuver to go from the ground floor to the back of the house.

Issan, for his part, had broken off from the team not long after they arrived. The surroundings gave plenty of vantage points, and the Twi'lek decided to peek around a few of his own accord, trying to find a good view to film the attack unfold.

Then everything got turned on its head.

Issan originally tried to film the ambush to try and cast the Imperials in a more negative light, showing them recklessly firing and destroying civilian property. He also hoped that the Rebels might be able to turn it around, and make some good footage of a triumph. However, it soon became abundantly clear that wasn't happening.

Listening to the comms almost led to his eardrum blowing out. " Is this what accounts for leadership these days?! " Issan sighed as he keyed on his comm and turned up his transmission volume as high as it could go. If nothing else, hopefully the shock of such a loud voice would get everyone to shut up for a moment. " Pull yourselves together, people! All this chatter isn't going to do us any good if no one can recieve orders! Are you all really all the best the Rebellion has to offer? "

Action: Issan would like to use Coercion or Leadership (whichever GM believes is most appropriate) to rally the troops.

EDIT Rallying the Troops (Leadership) : 1eP+2eA+3eD 1 success, 1 advantage

p-s-a.png a-a-a.png a-s-s.png d-f-th.png d-f-th.png d--.png

Manuever: Issan takes cover in the building so his rant doesn't get him shot (easily, at least).

Your voice rings out clear across the comm, silencing the various voices. Colonel Marson begins speaking immediately.

"Finally, someone's speaking sense. All units, withdraw now. Get clear, go underground if you have to, and absolutely do not compromise cell security. You know what to do if you get captured. Platoon leaders only are allowed to talk on the comms, get your boys out. Keep your teams in shouting range. Go to the emergency channel if you need it. Good luck. And somebody buy that man a drink when you get home."

The Rebels around you begin falling back pell-mell through the houses. Time to go , you think.

The glow of the Stormtroopers' armour reflecting the plasma blasting through the air shows them clearly to you, while you, dressed in camouflage and sheltering indoors, are hidden. A brief thought about the impracticality of it all crosses your mind. Below you the bodies of the fallen Rebels now lie still. Zavvel's people appear to be withdrawing their own wounded. The street is devoid of life that isn't dressed in impractical armour and trying to kill you.

Initiative is the same as before, and you're back at the top.

Cursing and nursing his wound, Rax makes for the back door towards the speeder truck. "Time to cheese it, gents! Last one to the truck is buying the Imps dinner!"

Giving up an action to make two move maneuvers towards the truck.

Rax emerges into the street behind the University. He can see shadowy figures darting across it before vanishing into various side streets. At this point he remembers something that makes him groan in annoyance - the truck is on the other side of the university, practically in the far corner of the campus. As he stands on the doorstep, fire comes screaming in from his right. More Stormtroopers, far away but closing in.

You've got a ways to go to get to the truck, while you've got attackers a ways off to your right. The Uni is in front of you and stretching off to the left down the road. What do you want to do with the second maneuver? The rest of you, are you going to try and break contact immediately?

Hearing the comms go live with the Colonel's order, Geoff takes a peak outside for any of the fallen and more stormtroopers. As he does so, he thinks back to the group. This is insane. Wasn't there any other groups providing cover fire?

Perception Roll : 2eA 3 successes
a-s-s.png a-s.png

There are a few troopers providing covering fire, but if there's one thing Rebels are good at it's getting out of dodge fast. Into sewers, down back alleys, onto rooftops, or just through the streets, the cell scatters to the four winds, hoping to confuse the Imps.

How far away are the attackers? Are there any obstacles Rax can put between himself and them? How many Move maneuvers will it take to reach the truck, and is the terrain suitable for bringing the truck back here to pick up the rest of the group?

Issan rolled his eyes as he pucked up his gear to leg it. However, he decided against stowing his camera. " Who's going to cover our retreat? "

Incidental

For now, Rax is going to take cover. "We've got bucketheads closing on the house! Going to need some cover if we're getting to the truck tonight!"
