Edge of Darkness IC

By ColonelCommissar, in Star Wars: Age of Rebellion RPG

The younger man briefly looks like he's going to put up a fight, but a combination of Kixue's resolute calmness and Oro's contained aggression suffices to see him surrender his weapon after a few moments.

"Good choice Belko," the older man nods, then begins speaking to the Rebels facing him. "He's young, thinks he's immortal - you all do. Fool couldn't see he'd already lost," the man seems fatalistic, but he did at least make the right choice to ensure that he keeps his life, so perhaps there's some wisdom to him yet.

Further back, the last man is still kneeling where you left him. Geoff shakes his head in response to Liaka's question. "Looks like we did a number on them. This one," he throws a thumb towards the armoured man. "Had his armour to protect him, looks like he'll pull through, if we want him to," he takes Liaka's disapproving look and shrugs. "Just saying. He's comatose anyway, I'll make sure he stays that way until we can deal with him. 'Course we'll have to get a stretcher to move him, and I'll need to use some of our supplies on him, and - " he trails off, Liaka's glare boring into him.

N97 silently works to ready the group for the trip to the cave. He ticks off a list of tasks: inventory and securing gear, double check the security of the combatants, and then the many calculations used in processing distance, weather and terrain.

Finally, he turns to the Lt. and asks: "Inquiry: Shall I construct a drag sled to bring the injured man with us?"

The pretty Twi'lek Lieutenant looks at the droid, grim determination on her face. "We can't. We'll have to leave him for now and secure the base first. Then come for him. Hopefully he'll make it. If not, nothing we can do about it."

She heads off, dragging the first prisoner with her. "So, show me how to find your base and not get shot by any automated defenses or defending troops and we can all get out of the rain and live happily ever after."

The man's reluctance is palpable, but he nonetheless leads Liaka away from the speeder and up the bluff. Geoff pauses for long enough to cover the injured man in a thermal blanket from the speeder's supplies, before moving on after the rest of you. Brought together as a group, the five of you, prisoners in tow, continue up the hillside towards the base of - whoever this third faction is.

The differences between your prisoners is marked: Belko resists you, staying as aloof as possible, but does not openly try to fight back; Wisken maintains the steady trudge of a man used to his lot in life involving a blaster being jammed into his ribcage; and Phrink hobbles along with a decidedly dead-eyed motion, quite set on not attracting any attention, and with getting his life over with as quickly as possible. You follow them steadily up the hill as they lead you towards the base.

"There are no sentry guns up there," Wisken begins. "And we're all that's left of the garrison - kind of a skeleton operation this, most of the time."

"What are you doing old man?" Belko responds with anger. "Do you want to tell them everything about our own people?"

"Why should I care? I don't want to die in the rain, I may as well make that a slightly more attainable goal. And anyway, I'd been looking for a chance to cut loose for a while. Why not make myself indispensible to the new bosses?

Kixue pulls up the rear keeping an eye out for potential ambushes and making sure their prisoners stay in line. He chuckles lightly to himself at the idea of being the new "boss". He considers his lot in life for the moment. Starting out with great promise and a career in Imperial Intel to now being a Rebel. Ending capping his story as a criminal mob boss made a certain amount of amusing poetic sense to the trajectory his once idyllic life had now taken.

" The old man is keeping the rest of you alive. " he says to Belko's angry outburst " You could be more appreciative of that fact. "

Helping the doctor N97 places the heavily injured man in a sheltered area, helps to stabilize him has much as possible, removes his armor and then secures him to the remains of the shuttle.

He took his usual tactical position in group as they made their way to the cave. Once there he drops the extra gear and helps to secure the prisoners.

As with any situation, his mind immediately starts to analyse for setting up for his job in the team: materials support, equipment maintenance and repair, munitions creation/modification. Those things have to wait for the area to be secure first, but others are better at that part so he continues to stand guard over the prisoners
