"I suppose I could manage that. I'll bring back some food too, though we've got a few ration packs somewhere. Anything else you need?"
Edge of Darkness IC
Thinking for a second, Geoff lets out a sigh. "Information would be nice. I want to get our story out there fast, before our names and faces get plastered all over the place. I am a bit worried about my patients, which means bringing them here if possible. Beyond that, we need to have a way to get in contact with each other. If Zavvel did notice you gone, I want you to have a way out in five minutes. Is there anyone else you trust that you can bring over?"
You all hear a deep warble and screech.
"Yer i did record, can send it over.
anything i do to make sure no one can get in without our knowing?"
Geoff nods at CT. "Would you work with Issan about this? I think having the original version and an edited version would work. Especially if we can get the media on our side."
"Oh there are plenty of people in the base I might be able to trust, but actually doing so is another matter entirely. That said, I'll see who I can find who's willing to side with us. There's certainly no love lost between the support staff and the Captain."
Toco's face flushes as he watches the news.
"Karkin Kriff!" He stands up and walks over to the nearest wall.
His eyes are racing back and forth, but his breathing stays calm. "One more target to the list." he mutters.
Whistles an approval.
"You got that right Toco," Rax interjects. He's been listening to the conversation from the entrance. "So. What's the plan? Get more intel before deciding what strategy we want to use?"
Hearing Rax ask what the plan is, Geoff looks at him, then at the rest of the group., including Doctor Cohlen, Tookur, and the rebels with Doctor Cohlen. "The long term plan remains the same as before: the successful independence of Akros and the removal of the Empire. We just need to add taking Zavvel out first."
Looking at Doc Cohlen, Geoff makes a hand motion indicating the rest of the neighborhood. "Just curious, what is the status of the other houses in the neighborhood? Are they occupied?"
As he waits for Doctor Cohlen's response, Geoff looks to Rax, Toco, and Oro. "While Issan and CT see how much of the brief was recorded, we need to inventory what we have here. If we have to start a new cell, I want to make sure we are good to go."
"The other houses in this neighbourhood are almost all abandoned, and poking around in them might attract the sort of attention we don't want. That said, you won't be here for long. We'll gather who we can, work out a plan, then head back. Hopefully we can take back the main base without needing to find somewhere new."
Hearing Doctor Cohlen's statement on the warehouse, Geoff shakes his head. "Doubtful. Between the Colonel's demise and Zavvel's treachery, it will only be a matter of time before the warehouse is discovered. Frankly, I'm of the mindset we should head out of the city with our main operations."
"Regardless, that can wait until the more immediate crisis is dealt with. Other than the media manipulation equipment, what else do you need taken from the base?"
"A squadron of starfighters and the pilots to man them," Rax replies, trying to lighten the mood with little success. "I'm kidding of course. I think we need to do what ever we are going to do fast. We are not the only ones plotting and planning."
Smirking at Rax's statement, Geoff shrugs as he looks around. "By my count, that's it. Food, supplies, and information is what we can use. Beyond that, stay safe and stay frosty."
*****After Doctor Cohlen and the other troopers leave*****
Once Doc Cohlen and her squad leaves, Geoff quickly goes over to Rax, Toco, and Oro. "While I trust Doctor Cohlen and those with her, I don't like to have no way of knowing who is coming through the area. What do you three think about finding a good tall spot to observe from? Maybe have a clear area of fire?"
"Sounds good to me. More intel is always good," Rax comments, feeling out of place discussing ground tactics.
"Yeah, we need to start looking out for our team. Taking orders is great; but when they get you burned, we have to have options."
I am so glad we held onto those explosives. Toco thinks. Slowly dragging his thoughts away from the Captain and onto the task of an observation post.
"I am up for an observation post. Early warning is the best warning."
Issan turned to CT, datapad in hand, as the others worked on security measures. "I guess we should at least see what we've got between our sundry recording devices, even if we're going to have to wait until I get my media suite back to do anything creative with it."
Issan then pulled out a cord from the datapad and gestured it towards one of CT's output ports. "May I?"
As the rest of the team split up for the various jobs, Geoff started an inventory of the safe house. Hopefully this place isn't too bare. We could really use some decent gear and supplies.
Shaking his head, Geoff withdrew a datapad from the backpack and started writing down the supplies that were there.
[What does the safe house have as far as supplies go?]
Unfortunately, Geoff's search is fruitless. The place was abandoned long ago, with nothing more than some blaster charge packs and ration bars left lying around.
Sighing at the sight of the lack of resources, Geoff looks around as he looks for something to keep himself busy.
[What does the safe house have? Are there any active connections to the network for Geoff to connect his datapad to in order to search for information?]
Noticing Geoff's searching, Tookur shakes his head sadly and clicks his teeth. "Tookur sorry. There no supplies available. When we leave, safe house stripped of all supplies so Imperials cannot trace. However, there some spare gear. You can take spare charge pack if you want. Spare gear always good."
There's an Extra Reload for each of you if you want. Next post will be on the 4th January. Happy New Year one and all, and may the Force be with you.
[A Spare Reload is always good to have. That should be six reloads, so if someone doesn't need one it can be handed off to Toco, Rax, and Oro, since they could use the extra ammo.]
Rax grabs a reload. "You never know when this might come in handy."
Toco grabs a reload and finds a table or flat surface to strip and clean his rile. Simple maintenance, easy task. Anything to keep his mind off the fact has been betrayed.
Hell, he even spoke up for the plan. Seeing the Captain speaking so ill of the mission and the team, Toco's frustration is slowly changing to anger.
The ritual nature of the maintenance gives him something to do . Anything to do as he tries to keep things in line, inside.
Finishing the rifle, he lays down the vibro-knife and begins to clean it too. Trying not to imagine how it would look in the Captain's back.
The filament he is using to pry some dried blood from the blade guard snaps, just as he imagines the Captains head vaporizing from a long ranged blaster bolt.
"Kark!" he snaps and feels his hands start to shake.
He stands and takes a series of ragged breaths. His eyes closed and mind racing. Slowing things down by sure force of will. He opens them slowly and glances down.
"I am these." He whispers while looking at the re-assembled and cleaned weapons. "I do what I am told,"
The slave brand on the his chest starts to itch. "I do what I am told."
He gathers his gear, preps for duty and waits for instructions.
Edited by Tear44Seeing to it everyone had a reload for their blasters, Geoff starts going through his gear. This waiting is going to be a pain in the rear.
Half way through going through the medpac, Geoff hears Toco curse, foolowed by shuffling of feet. What the heck is going on?
Making his way to the room Toco was at, he hears Toco muttering and talking to himself. Concerned, Geoff crosses his arms and leans against the wall. This guy needs some help. Better start asking questions before he goes over the edge.
As the soldier walks by, Geoff clears his throat to get Toco's attention. "Hey man. You ok?"
