Edge of Darkness IC

By ColonelCommissar, in Star Wars: Age of Rebellion RPG

With everything sorted out, the truck jumps forward, accelerating down the exit ramp and swerving with finesse into the street. You race off into the night, barely keeping the vehicle below an acceptable speed. The late night traffic has mostly cleared as you cruise down the main arterial highway across the city, finding it hard to conceal grins at the sight of a large area of ramp blocked off due to the rather large repulsor-truck shaped hole in the barrier.

Leaving the city, you head along a hill road until you reach the valley you'd examined so extensively in the plans. Tookur directs Rax onto an unmarked country lane along the side of the valley. "This is where I'm leaving you. Bridge down there. You go. Blow it up! I get you afterwards. Then we go for drink."

Toco hops out of the truck. He shifts the awkward satchel so as to prepare his rifle.

The night air is refreshing after being cooped up at the base for a few days. A smile breaks over his face.

"I am not going to lie, I really want to see this bridge drop."

Toco hears a whirr behind him as CT gets off the truck aswell

[does the truck have a ramp or is it a step?]

It's a step. And for the record the ambush was only last night. But I can still understand if Toco wants to get out a bit.

Rax reluctantly gets out of the truck. "Ok, Tooks. We'll cya then."

Rax squints at the bridge to determine if any civilians are on it.

Double checking his gear, Geoff looks back at Tookur. "Just be careful, Tookur. It might get hairy when the Imperials arrive. We'll let you know if we need to change plans for the extraction. Or let us know if you can't get to us for whatever reason."

Securing his gear and the satchel, Geoff gets off the truck, drawing his holdout blaster. After hearing Toco's statement, Geoff cracks a small smile. "Yeah, I am getting the same feeling. Exhilarating, isn't it?"

[Just curious, who is carrying the satchels and how many are being carried? While on one hand each of us should be carrying one, I'm getting the feeling that some might be carrying two and others none. I know Geoff is carrying one. While CT could carry one, I am having a bit of trouble imagining how CT would carry it (it's in a bag, but Astromechs don't have shoulders to use).

Well they do have the tops of their legs, but I think he's put it down as being in a storage compartment inside his body

"Man, the hours feel likes days here."

Toco skitters off to the side of the road closest to the bridge. He takes position to provide security while the rest of the team rallies.

Once they arrived, Issan activated his recon remote and took in the surroundings. "The range on this thing might not get me a clean shot of the whole bridge...maybe if I got an uproad shot of the thing as it exploded? That should work"

Nodding to himself, Issan looked to the others. "How are we dividing the work? Each person to a pillar, or is someone willing to do more than their share? I can take the first support, since its not too far."

Just so you know, the target supports are all pretty much equidistant.

Hearing Issan speak, Geoff purses his lips as he thinks about it. "Not really. I propose we either split into two groups of three or three groups of two."

Trying to see the bridge from his spot, Geoff looks at Toco, Oro, and Rax. "If I may suggest, Toco, 'Hotdog', and Oro are our best shooters and munitions specialists. CT is our demolitions expert. That leaves 'Howler' and myself as the gophers."

Thinking for a second, Geoff nods at CT. "I can carry one more satchel charge. If another person takes one or two others, three people can act as security and watch our backs while the other three go in on the bridge. What do you all think?"

[Proposal: We divide up into two three-man teams. One team hangs back and provides security, while the other team goes in and rig the bridge to explode. Chances are, CT will have to be in the demo team. Since it is my idea and he sucks at shooting, Geoff will also be in the demo team. I would recommend Toco and Rax stay behind to act as security, since they are better shots. That leaves Issan (a.k.a. Howler) and Oro. What do you all think?

Also, who has grabbed an E-11?]

I have no problem with that.

[i have a satchel. tucked away in a compartment, little bit tight but eh. lol.

i agree with the two three man teams.]

Seeing the step CT lets out a whirr of sadness as he is handicapped when it comes to stairs. Then, all you see is two panels on the side of my legs slide up and out pop 2 jet thrusters, with a small burst I manage to get to the floor without any problems "Guys, maybe we could install a ramp when we get back... not only will it be easier for me, but it makes easier in a get away aswell..."

[Yeah, I mentioned two or three, since Oro is sort of an outlier. I can think that he might be our "stealthy assassin" since he is good with melee. Which means rear security team would probably be Toco, Rax, and maybe Issan. Demo Team is Geoff and CT. Forward observation/skirmish would be Oro. This way our exit is good to go.

While timing might be an issue, that would only be if the setup for each charge takes longer than necessary.

Also, how far are we from the bridge? How is the terrain?]

[being a droid, I will be able to keep exact times on all of the charges so as to make them all explode at the same time. Internal processors bi****s xD lol]

Oro hops out of the truck with one of the charges hanging from his shoulder. He takes a look around, and peers towards the bridge. "I know some of you were concerned about civilians, but let's have look around for any Imperials as well. Let's figure out what kind of resistance we might face before deciding to split up."

Let's talk about some sort of check here to figure out what's going on. Either someone with decent Perception, or does CT have some kind of sensors that can pick up activity? Maybe bring the plans we received from the Captain into play again to compare what we got there versus what we're seeing now and trying to identify the best routes to take and/or likely guard posts.

If any of you want to take a Hard Perception check to make the Stealthing easier that seems reasonable. You get a Boost if anyone brought appropriate gear.

[it appears that i need to get some sensors installed.

I'll wait on my perception to see what others see, and if they spot any other droids about]

Perception Check: 1eA+1eP+3eD 0 successes, 3 threat

Toco is engrossed in the simplicity surrounding him. The quiet. The peacefulness. Sometimes it is so easy to forget the struggles of this war.

"****, I need some sleep."

He visibly shakes his head and tries to focus on the task at hand.

Whoever takes the first Stealth check has the difficulty upgraded once. If you want to start your approach now, it's Easy to begin with. There are three in total

I have a satchel, and a reasonable agility, so I'll make the first check. I get a boost due to the night, right?

Yes you do

Stealthy Trailbalzing: 4eA+1eB+1eD 0 successes, 4 advantage

The satchel is throwing Toco off balance. He sees a path, but doesn't realize he is shaking tree branches as he moves along it.

This dice roller. Eet Haates Mee! :P

Could the 4 advantage be used to pass on boost dice to the next people since they see to obvious missteps Toco made?

Edited by Tear44

An Imperial scout looks around. He pauses, stopping his patrol circuit for a moment. He could've sworn those tree branches moved.

Not worth calling it in. He carries on, more alert than before.

Elsewhere, your team continues on down the slope to the valley floor. The moon is hidden, and it's a dark night, as you press on towards the outer ring of Imperial guards. They look spread out to you, though you can't see very well. It shouldn't be too hard to get up close to the bridge.

Alright, now I need an Average check with 1 Difficulty upgrade and 2 Boosts. Bear in mind that only one person needs to make each check, not all of you (that would take forever).

Oro carefully watches Toco as he makes his way down the path, holding his breath as the he briefly attracts the attention of a passing Stormtrooper. Once the Stormtrooper moves on, he takes extra care to follow in Toco's footsteps, but ducks under the tree branches.
