"Or alternately, I could forget the fact that you should be a carbon stain on that wall right now and you could just get into line. Bring your team in here. Did you get the vehicle? And that **** rodent for that matter?"
Edge of Darkness IC
Hearing the Captain make the snide remarks and calling Tookur a rodent deepens Geoff's frown, his right hand clenching in a fist, then releasing. "That 'rodent' goes by Tookur, and he saved our arses. As for the vehicle, your 'lookout' should have been paying attention and sticking to their post."
Taking a step back, Geoff looks at the Captain cold. "As for turning us into carbon stains, I want to see you make the attempt. Command is already going to be asking some serious questions about the frack storm that happened. Unless you want to deal with them on your own, you're going to want someone to run interference against them."
[Action Request: Visually speaking, are any of Captain Zavvel's team injured and how bad are the injuries?]
Edited by SaroneIssan saw the lekku-measuring constest unfold as he slipped inside. "Well, glad to see we're all ready to tear ourselves to bits after getting knocked around." The Twi'lek covered his face, feigning a weak rubbing of his bruise in order to hide him rolling his eyes. "Holy crap this cell is going to fall apart long before I have a chance to do anything with it..."
Edited by ImperialSpyRax brings the truck in to it's parking spot and hops out of the cab, ready to see what's in store next.
Zavvel looks you dead in the eye. "In case you hadn't grasped it yet, I am command around here. Marson's dead, Yozell's dead, and I'm next in the line of succession. I've got questions, but I'll pursue my own inquiries thanks. In the mean time, why don't you get your truck parked and keep quiet until I've worked out what we're going to do with this kark-awful mess of a situation. Since you seem so dedicated to helping the weak and needy, why don't you go in the back and help Doctor Nelya? She's got one or two patients who might need a hand."
Toco rolls his shoulders, "Doc does great work.Got me off the ground, real quick."
"Where to now, Sir?" Hoping for a chance to hit the barracks.
Knowing that he is right about the wounded, Geoff shakes his head at Captain Zavvel. "For now. But don't forget that ALLIANCE Command will also be asking questions."
Keeping an eye on Captain, Geoff takes a step back and heads toward the medical bay. Boggard is going to attempt something big and bad for everyone. Hopefully he won't be stupid about it.
Rax nods at Toco's question. "What he said. We gotta keep going, we can't let the bucketheads get away with this. I say we boost some fighters from the Empire and start strafing garrisons."
You retreat to your barracks for now. You do at least have time to fit in a good night's rest, with all the resultant benefits for yourselves. Well, most of you do - the field hospital in the back is open and badly in need of help, as explained to Geoff by a passing runner looking for anyone with medical experience to head over and help.
If you guys want to do some IC interaction that would be cool. Geoff, let me know what you're doing on your front. If any of you want to explore the base looking for various things then that's cool too.
Rax nods at the rest of the team. "I'm gonna look around and see if they managed to grab any sims or anything, then sack out." He heads off to do just that.
Toco eyes the bunks with desire, and then stops walking to the barracks.
"Hey Geoff, hold up."Toco slings his rifle and chases after the Doc.
"I may not know Stimpaks from KwikKaff, but I imagine you may need an orderly."
Toco will offer unskilled assistance to Geoff (if desired)
Hearing Toco offer his assistant, Geoff smiles as he makes his way towards the back. "Much appreciated. Muscle is good to move patients and restrain those who are causing a fuss."
Looking over at Issan, Geoff considers his words carefully. "Issan, you still want some footage? You're welcome to come back. However, stay out of everyone's way. People's lives are on the line, after all."
Not bothering to hear Issan's reply, Geoff heads towards the back.
Issan threw his hands up in a "don't take your frustration out on me" pose. However, after seeing that Geoff didn't even seem to care about his response, the Twi'lek just shook his head. "Got better things to do than argue with that brick wall..."
Going to what amounted to storage for the cell's sundries, Issan started to wade through the crates to see if he could find his propaganda equipment. The battle didn't give him much of anything usable, especially since the Empire no doubt got their own stirring footage he'd have to discredit. Regardless, Issan felt like it would be better to have the thing unpacked sooner rather than later. The cell was mad, and either was about to do something really stupid, spectacular, or both.
Edited by ImperialSpyFollowing behind Rax, I ask "Maybe ow could be a good time to look for some rocket boosters that we can get attached to me?"
Rax laughs. "Sure thing CeeTee. We can use it to set some Imp officers funny little hats on fire."
Geoff is directed to the back of the warehouse, into a side room that was obviously once used for packing and distributing meat, as the white tiled surfaces would indicate. That being said, not much at all remains of the white on the tiles - soaked as they are in blood and other vital fluids, of all colours. Figures lie groaning, screaming or deathly still in cots spaced across the chamber, and far too few medical personnel are in there - though those that are are sprinting about, desperately seeking to provide help to anyone they can. In this room, Rebels are living and dying at every second.
A Mirialan woman in a doctor's uniform strides across the room to you at the door. She has many tattoos indicating her training as a healer, although you could also tell that from the stethoscope around her neck or the blood soaking her sleeves to the elbow.
"What are you doing here? This is a sterile zone, not that the proto-beings out there seem to care. Unless you've managed to sneak some supplies past that prune-faced bastard I'm not sure how much help two more blaster-toting thugs can be here."
"Oh frack," Geoff said as he steps inside, seeing the wounded. Turning back to Toco, Geoff points back the way they came. "Get the others. I don't care if they don't have medical experience, we have a MassCas. We need all hands on deck. And tell that Captain to frack off if he won't help."
"Ma'am, Doc Hanson, former RRM surgeon. I need a clear space and a bench to work from stat. Can you point me to one?"
While waiting for the Doctor to give him directions, Geoff takes his backpack off.
"What is the count? How many are going die if they don't get immediate attention? How many can survive until morning, at least? Have supplies and provisions been put on stand by?"
[My apologies, Toco, but I'm pretty sure we are going to need all hands on deck. Mass Casualty Events (MassCas) suck, especially when you have the patients outnumbering medics two to one.
Do you want me to roll a Charm Check against the Good Doctor?}
Edited by SaroneToco looks to Geoff, "Uh, sure."
He then starts to look for the others. "If he needs the others it must be bad."
"Stars, actual medical personnel? This is my lucky day. Dr Lyara Cohlen, Alliance Medical Corps. I'm the chief surgeon here, with an assistant surgeon and four orderlies. And we've got a lot of injured personnel. I've been triaging them mostly, sorting out the criticals, the majors and the minors. We're about to start surgery on the first critical. If you can help in any way that would be appreciated. We've got a good twenty injured and we've never had anything on this scale. The cell's never made an attack like that before, so we've never had more than three or four casualties. It was alright before, under Marson. He got that the different branches have to pull together. But not Zavvel. When he got back he just brushed me off, dumped his wounded on me like they didn't matter. He only counts in terms of blasters, not men. Given proper care every one of these men could be back on their feet, but he wants men now," she rubs her hands over the face in exhaustion, then dropping them slackly by her sides looks up at you. "Sorry, I'm dead on my feet and it's only just begun. I'm already going in circles. But if you can help I'd see you people as a lot better at running the cell than Zavvel. Anything you can do I'd appreciate. And if you've got time, talk to Chief Vwikk in the vehicle bay. I'm sure he's got a few choice words to say on the subject."
The work is hard, and hellish. There's a lot to work through. But by dawn, you can see the end in sight. It hasn't been easy, but as the last patient sighs in relief as the painkillers help them drift off to sleep, you are able to slump by the bedsides.
"So," says Cohlen. "Captain Zavvel. Where do we begin?"
Edited by ColonelCommissarWhen Rax hears from Toco that the people needs help, he comes running. "Well Doc, if you need someone to hold something steady or what not, I can do that."
Not sure if that would count as a coordination check or an unskilled assist, but happy to provide either!
No checks required. The crisis was resolved. If you want to RP this one for a bit between yourselves I'm about to call it a night
Finally, someone trained in being a doctor, Geoff thought as he put the back pack on the closest cleared table, revealing the EMC and second medpack. "Doc, this is a CAPC Emergency Medical Clinic. It should help with the criticals. I also have a standard medpac here. Let's get to work."
Looking up when Rax came in, Geoff nodded at the pilot. "Rax, Doc Cohlen. She's the head surgeon and Medical Officer. Doc Cohlen, Rax, the craziest pilot I have ever been partied to."
Working as he goes, Geoff talks to Rax. "We need casualties moved around, supplies stockpiled, and morale to get up. Let the rest of the team know. Also, have someone get the fallen trooper out of Tookur's truck and stored. Beyond that, be on stand by or go see Chief Vwikk. My guess, there's going to be a number of vehicles that will need to be repaired. You and CT can help with that as well. If Issan, Toco, or Oro ask, let them know the same directions. If they are here to help the med staff, they should be willing to provide almost any assistance."
Seeing the CAPC powered up, Geoff looks at Doc Cohlen. "Let's get to it!"
***LATER***
With the last patient sleeping soundly, Geoff collapses in a chair, sighing as he able to rest. Man, I have not been that busy since the last Imperial reprisal.
Seeing Doc Cohlen and hearing her question, Geoff breathes deep before looking around. "Call me Geoff. Or Doc Hanson. Anyone willing to be elbow deep in another beings fluids and guts has more than earned my respect. Or proven themselves in battle."
Rotating his neck, Geoff sits up, putting his elbows on his knees and cupping his hands together. Exhaustion and stress hits Geoff as he thinks. "We need to find out who is alive and what we have as a cell. Captain Zavvel might be an arse, but if he can be brought to heel, then we can probably work with him. Otherwise, Alliance Command might need to be contacted and order Captain Zavvel removed. Depending on his crew, we might be facing a major force reduction."
Looking at Cohlen, Geoff breathes out. "Right now, we need to work together. We lost a lot of people, but we might have put the hurt on the Empire as well, hopefully. I know my team took out quite a few troopers and a few of the Empire bikes."
"Well we certainly put the hurt on them, of that we've got no doubt. But even a two-to-one kill ratio doesn't go far when your enemy outnumbers you on a scale of dozens and can just put another Star Destroyer in the system. We can kill all the bucket heads we want, but we need to make a lasting impression. Bring the people to our side. I was trying to do that, working with Marson to start an outreach program to the refugee camps. But Zavvel's single-minded. All he sees is killing Imps, without another side to this war. I'm not sure how effective it will be," she smiles then. "Thankyou for your help. I truly appreciate it. Without your help some of these men would not have seen that sunrise. If you mention my name, I'm sure the others will be willing to help you. The support staff is small, but we've got influence. For now anyway, don't know how long that will last. There's Chief Vwikk in the vehicle pool. I think you know Tookur already. Lunu Somal, who's in charge of procurement and Omek, who's sort of the cell's face. I hope between us we can stitch this cell back together."
After washing up, Toco goes to find Lunu Somal.
"Procurement? They might be the ones to talk to about some gear. And chow."
His stomach growls as he leaves the clinic.
"I'll go pay the Chief a visit, see what we managed to save." And with that, he wanders over to the vehicle pool.
