Plugging into the nearest port I run a diagnostics on the truck
Edge of Darkness IC
Your inspection of the truck reveals that while it suffered little damage to the workings of the truck itself, you took a lot of damage to the bodywork that has left it looking very much worse for wear.
no strain damage that I can spot?
its just cosmetic?
Just cosmetic. Their shots never hit home on the truck
Toco calls out " Rax, circle the block. Everyone else look for anything strange. I know we were here for only a few heartbeats, but lets make sure it is safe before we box ourselves in. "
" Have we been on planet for more than a day ?" Toco thinks to himself? " So much has happened. "
Hearing Toco's plan, Geoff nods, then frowns a bit. "Tookur, are there any other safe houses we could go to if we need to make a run for it? As much fun as Hotdog's driving is, we may need to drop off the truck to make a get away."
Taking Toco's advice, Geoff looks outside to see if there's any trouble brewing.
[Action: Perception roll to see if there's anything out of the ordinary?]
This is bad, thought Geoff as he reflected on the last transmission. Besides Captain Z, who else is there?

It's dark and you're tired, so that would be a Hard Perception roll
****, Rax thinks to himself. So much for learning to fly, looks like it's back to looking over my shoulder every few minutes. "Taking us around, let's see what what we got here."
Everything seems clear outside, though it seems quiet inside the warehouse. You could be clear to go in, if that's what you want.
Noticing nothing out of order beyond the quiet, Geoff turns to Toco and Oro. "Before we go in, let me fix you two up first, in case we need to fight our way out."
As Geoff goes through the medpac, he looks over at the two E-11s. "Any one want to grab one of the E-11s? They may not be the best, but it's better than nothing and they pack a bigger punch than a blaster pistol."
"Nah," Rax pats his trusty blaster pistol. "But thanks for the offer. We parking and going inside?"
Issan eyed an E-11, and then looked down at his own pistol. " I would probably shoot worse than a recruit with one of these things. Then again... " Issan grabbed one of the rifles, grunting a bit as he compensated for the surprising weight of it. " You have a point, probably worth destroying the barn with the one lucky shot I can land on it. "
Hearing Issan's comment, Geoff nodded his head. " Good point there. Then again, you aren't the only one that needs to put in practice at the range."
Considering Rax's point, Geoff purse his lips for a moment, then shakes his head. "Park out here, but have the engine running and a getaway in case this turns out to be a trap."
Glancing at Oro and Toco, Geoff tilts his head towards the warehouse. "So, should it be you two and myself going in to check the place out? If it's all clear, one of us can wave in the truck."
Toco nudges Oro, " Let's see whose home. "
Oro nods. "Let's do this. " He draws his pistol with one hand and his vibro knife with the other.
Toco ready's his rifle and chirps the comm. " Will signal the 'all clear'... or the ' get ready to run' ."
He follows Oro to the doors.
Edited by Tear44Packing up the medpac and putting the load on his back, Geoff looks over at Rax and Issan. "Once we find out what is going on, I'll work on you two the second I get the chance to."
Looking at Toco and Oro, Geoff nods towards the warehouse. "Ready when you two are."
You open the doors, expecting trouble. Within, the building is dark and seems empty. Crates are stacked around, and the bus looks much like how you left it. Closing the door behind you, you edge further into the space. You hear a click from behind you, and turn to face it. A blaster rifle is facing towards you. Then another, and another. A light repeater. A heavy cannon.
"Damned idiots. We could have shot you," a familiar heavy-set Weequay steps out from behind cover, a massive rifle across one shoulder. "How many of you survived? Still got that truck? If you broke it you're paying for the repairs."
A look of disappointment crosses Geoff's face as he looks at the Captain. "Could've, but didn't, Captain. Don't you have a look out on duty?"
Looking at the others, Geoff does a quick count of survivors. "Just wounded plus a straggler that didn't make it. Storm troopers got him as we were escaping."
Looking around, Geoff motions to the back. "Any wounded that need help? Otherwise, what's the plan, Captain?"
[Action: Charm check against the Captain. Recent losses and the fact that our team made it back should help get the Captain to work with us, for now at least.]
Captain Zavvel snorts derisively. "Of course I've got a lookout on duty, I'm not a greenie like you lot. And believe me, he saw you coming a long way away. How else do you think we got hidden so easily? Get your team in here for a debrief," He pauses. "You've got one that didn't make it? Bring him in. We'll ice him now and bury him later, when the heat's off. For now, we've got a lot to discuss you and me."
Looks at Rax and gives a Beep in terms of a question along the lines of "Well what do we do now... they taking their time..."
Rax taps on his comm. "I swear, if you all got dead in there I'm turning this truck right around, so help me."
Oro comms Rax, "All clear. Come on in. The Captain is here and wants to have a chat. Maybe we can figure out what went wrong."
Squinting at Captain Zavvel's comment, Geoff smiles as Hotdog's comment came over the line. Good point, better bring him and the rest of the team in.
hearing Oro making the decision to bring in the truck, Geoff looks at Captain Zavvel. Carefully considering his words, Geoff takes a step forward towards Captain Zavvel. "Captain, everyone that had comms heard what happened with Colonel and Major. They also heard the Major's last order was for you not to be in charge. But for now, pointing blasters at each other and throwing accusations aren't going to help anyone. We got wounded to tend, dead to bury, and a Charlie Foxtrot to unravel. Care to work together on this?"
