Edge of Darkness IC

By ColonelCommissar, in Star Wars: Age of Rebellion RPG

I haven't seen the Dukes of Hazzard. Could someone enlighten me on what's being suggested? Is it a handbrake turn that would slide you around the junction?

It's more an on-ramp than a jump-ramp so I'm not sure how that would work...

If you're going fast enough, all ramps are jump ramps ;)

But if there's not enough curve for us to just bust through whatever barriers are there, I'll take the onramp and spend the advantage to weave through oncoming traffic to try to lose our tails.

It's an option. You could take an Opposed Driving test against the bikes (2C+1D) with 2 Boosts to see if you lose them

Spying the onramp, Rax makes a split-second decision. "Hey guys, remember that part where I told you to hold on? Well, now I need you all to multitask into holding on and praying."

He swerves onto the onramp and into oncoming traffic. "C'mon you bucketheads, let's see what you've got!"

Flipping another Destiny point because this could (and likely will) go so very, very wrong.

Hey, we didn't die!

The Imperials see your truck speeding towards the side of the ramp, and grin under their facemasks at the thought of you crumpling against it. They're still grinning when it crashes through the fence, soaring through the air and briefly silhouetted against the moon, before it drops out of sight under the ramp. They speed to the hole in the railing, stopping their bikes and looking over the edge at - nothing. Empty streets, devoid of any piles of rubble or twisted wrecks of trucks.

"Control...we lost them."

Can I have a Hard Coordination check from each of you please?

Hard coordination: 3eA+3eD 2 successes

Well, this is going to suck.

The truck slams down onto the street below. There's a scream of tearing metal, a crunch as the bumper is compressed so far into the bodywork it appears in the floor beneath you, and a growl as the engine attempts to work out what bit of ground it's meant to be repulsing and how. And then it settles, the truck righting itself in the shadow of an old tower that blocks out your view from the Imperial scouts. You're free.

Take damage equal to wounds and strain equal to threat. I'll give you some time for some friendly IC driver-murdering before we move on.

As the Truck is hurtling towards the barrier I let out an almost confused Uhuho!!

While in the air I let out the WHHOOOOOOOAAAAAA!!!!

Issan spied Rax's route for the truck, but he doubted the pilot's gall until they were warned to hold on. As the truck sailed over the road, adrenaline fueled Issan's response to Rax's brazen move. "YOU CRAZY SON OF A--"

The truck landed before Issan could finish, leaving him slightly unprepared for the impact. His head smacked into the side of the truck, leaving a purple spot on his forehead almost immediately. "Ow...dammit. Man, a little eariler warning next time you almost get us all killed?!"

"I told you to hold on AND pray! What else do you want, tourism highlights? 'On your left, you can see the speedway we'll be leaving behind, and to your rear you can see the murderous bastards trying to kill us.'" Rax shakes his head, unable to keep a grin off his face or voice. "Besides, what's a bit of a bumpy ride compared to being used as target practice by bored bucketheads, eh? Eh?"

Issan took on a more dour expression as he looked back towards where their pursuit probably ended...and the site of the ambush beyond them. "I doubt they were bored..."

Oro rubs the back of his neck to massage out some of the whiplash from that stunt. "Nice driving, kid. Now let's do that scan of the base before we drive right into another trap with that generic 'Come on back here' message. Maybe take the long way around and scope it out? After that close getaway, I don't feel like walking into a trap."

"Rough ride and alive is so much better than smooth and dead." Toco mutters and then calls out to Rax, "Great driving!"

"Easy for everyone else to say, I have to be the one to fix your arses if you get injured." Geoff sits up, shaking his head, then looks over at the medpac.

At least that is still working, Geoff thought as he also checked on the body and the loot. But he is right, we did lose the pursuit and no one is worse for wear, all things considering.

turning back to the Rax, Geoff shakes his. "Just for the record, if you want to live on the dangerous side of life, I can always operate on you with a nerve blocker and no anesthetic."

Hearing Oro's plan, Geoff nods. "Makes sense to me. However, depending on the situation at the base, medical skills will be needed. Should we drop off Longshot and Howler at a good location so they can cover us," Geoff asks Oro, pointing at Toco and Issan when he calls them by the nicknames.

This seems like a good place for us to pause and rest. That about wraps up Episode 1 - Blasters in the Night! Each of you recovers all Strain and gains 5xp and 5 Duty. Geoff and CeeTee, let me know how you're dividing up your Duty allocation for the chart. Once we're all ready, I'll move us on to Episode 2 - The Morning After...

New session. No Duty is triggered for this session.

Episode 2 - The Morning After

Your truck crawls through the city streets. It is dark, and you are trying to keep as quiet as possible. The exhaustion of the night has taken its toll on you, so all is quiet in the truck, where the body of the dead Rebel lies covered in one corner. As you drive, the radio suddenly crackles into life. Blaster fire can be heard as a voice speaks into it:

"Argh, dammit," you hear blaster fire, louder here. "This is Major Yozell. Marson's dead, and we're holed up in a lumber yard on Sactos Street. We're completely surrounded, and there are buckets coming through the building behind us while their little friends keep us pinned down from the..." His voice is broken by the sound of a long stream of blaster fire and a muffled grunt. "The front. There's no way we're getting out of this alive. Whatever happens, make sure someone sane takes charge, not that bastard Z-" the sound of a blaster impact fills the comm. After a moment, another voice appears.

"Oh stars, they killed the Major! He's dead, he's-" the voice is silenced, and the radio goes dead on the other end. Nothing but static.

"We here," says Tookur. "Back at warehouse."

"Uh-Oh!"

I'd like to run a quick diagnostics on the truck to see if it has been damaged in any way, including strain

That would be an Average Mechanics check
