Greetings FFG community!
I am Tommo the Hutt. Well actually that's the name of my Star Wars roleplaying Player Character. He's no ordinary Hutt however. The Force is strong with him. Unfortunately, he is considered by his family to be the runt of the litter. Not quite right. An embarrassment to the Kajidic.
Tommo does not seek power or prominence over others. Cares little for business dealings or profiting from illegal activities. Even his recent interest in the slave trade was just a cover to free the very slaves he buys.
For now his Force Sensitivity has remained his own secret. Though born and raised during the time of the Republic and Jedi Council, he knew his family would try to exploit his abilities if they found out. Now under the rule of the Galactic Empire, it has become more necessary for him to hide his abilities.
Through his connection to the Force he has foreseen the day his family will betray him to the Empire. Knowing that he will, one day in the future, be in danger from both the Empire and the Hutts, he has started to plan his escape:
First, he must build up enough finances for a ship. Preferably a Minstrel Class Space Yacht, with a one year supply of consumables, six M3-A Scyk Interceptors and a full compliment of crew and passengers. The crew and passengers are likely to be those he freed.
Second, he must plan carefully and make his move to escape Hutt space while avoiding any Imperial entanglements.
Third, locate the Rebel Alliance and join them. Both for survival and to free more people from tyranny.
This will form the first trilogy of Tommo the Hutt.
So Tommo the Hutt began life as a Hutt Player Character.
Being a Hutt gives him Enduring and Discipline. Also gives him Ponderous.
He's got 50 Morality and +10 XP added to his 70 XP.
Using 70 XP to up his characteristics, Tommo becomes:
3 Brawn
1 Agility
2 Intellect
3 Cunning
4 Willpower
2 Presence
16 Wound Threshold
15 Strain Threshold
Though I plan to give him all Mystic specializations, Tommo starts as a Mystic: Seer. I'll upgrade him to Advisor later when he's gained more experience. Not sure yet about Makashi Duelist, since I don't picture him wielding a lightsaber. He certainly won't be doing any leaps, back flips or anything like that.
The remaining 10 XP was spent on Uncanny Reactions and Grit from the Seer Specialization Talent Tree.
Added to his Hutt skills, Tommo has the following starting skills:
Charm
Discipline x2
Enduring
Perception
Vigilance x2
Finishing off my character are 70,000 credits. Rather than having a Resources, Tommo gets the value of a starting ship to represent his early business dealings.
Now I just need to spend his 150 XP on Force Talents. I'd like him to have every Force Power, bearing in mind he's only Force Rating 1, but I might focus on a few.
Foresee is something that is handled narratively, such as his visions of future betrayal, so I might ignore that.
Battle Meditation, Bind and Protect are in his future. In fact, I chose Mystic for the increases in Force Rating. Until then, there are plenty of choices:
Though I avoided Enhance, thinking a leaping Hutt was a ridiculous notion. 30 XP would allow him to enhance Resilience and Brawn. Cool!
Heal is definitely an option. Might just purchase the basic power for 15 XP.
Influence and Misdirect are two choices I'm still debating. I'd rather Misdirect as my character doesn't like controlling others. Influence just doesn't seem "Tommo" to me.
Move is one power that I'm planning on putting a few XP into. I see Tommo on his couch, using the Force to fetch things to his hands quickly.
Sense and Seek are at least going to get their basic power. Tommo uses the Force to see a lot.
I'm still reading Lords of Nal Hutta so background story will be coming soon. But his early character creation is as follows:
The Privileged Few
Even the runt of the litter in a Hutt Kajidic is still privileged.
Pragmatic Power
Tommo sees the Force as a unique ability. Nothing more. Nothing less. An extension of his own will and desire for self preservation. No more mystical than thoughts and feelings.
Heeding the Call is not so clear cut for Tommo. He wants to escape a future peril (Fleeing the Empire/Hutt), but he also wants to help others (with great power.....) Tricky. Not that it matters much. He's already got a strong purpose.
Of all his emotional strengths and weaknesses, I think Caution and Fear is the best fit. They are central to his upcoming story. Cautiously he plans his means of escaping to the Rebellion, knowing he can't raise suspicion. But always he fears the future he has envisioned. Sometimes he wonders if, in attempting to avoid it, he is in fact heading faster towards it.
Finally, his motivations are:
Ambition: Survival
Cause: Freedom
That is Tommo the Hutt!
