Resistance Y-Wing - you better believe it ![]()
Wave 9 Speculation Thread... too soon you think maybe? Nah
Sana's ship might not be a 2000. It has yet to get a name. It does not exactly match any know YT variant (both canon and extended) but the 2000 is the closest match.
I agree with this. Assuming they don't just make up something new, I imagined they'd just slap the YT-2000 name on there and call it a day.
Since the Episode VII will take a while to be released (and it looks like FFG doesn't have access to unreleased info), I think the wave 9 won't be focused on it. Here are my guesses:
[Empire] Small Ship: First Order's TIE Special Forces (if they are not holding for a whole Ep VII Wave). Second option: Assault Gunboat (I think can take a break of the TIEs this time). Third option: TIE Hunter (TIE Avenger can wait a little longer).
[Rebels] Small Ship: StealthX (too soon for another X-Wing?). Second option: H-Wing (this one will need some cosmetic lift-up). Third Option: T-Wing (can work with the new maneuvers and could be a nice surprise if coming with Scum extra dial and cards. No idea of named pilots, though). Forth Option: Eta-5 (pilots: Syal Antilles, Vibrosword Squadron Pilot. Because the Rebels need another charming fighter). Fifth option (oh God no): Y-Wing Scout Bomber.
[scum] Small Ship: Scurrg H-6 (title: Havoc. Named pilot: Nym. It would be the Scum heavy bomber, comparable to TIE Punisher and K-Wing). Second Option: Skipray Blastboat (ugly, but would be cool with rotating wings. Should be also Imperial?)
[scum] Large Ship: YT2000 (title: Otana. Pilots: more Azzameen family members. Could have a Rebel extra dial and cards).
OR
[Empire] Large Ship: Kylo Ren's Command Shuttle (from Episode VII).
[scum] Huge Ship: Minstrel-Class (title: Star Jewel), with Jabba & entourage and maybe a Kihraxz or Scyk as escort. Second option: Action IV (title: Wild Karrde).
Aces Packs: (someday)
[Empire] TIE Defender + TIE Bomber (with titles!). Or, instead of the Bomber, TIE Phantom.
[Rebel] X-Wing + E-Wing (with titles!)
I'm sort of in favor of dropping the EU for rebels and imperials. Might have to keep it up a bit for a bit with scum.
The Scum are getting a lot of attention in what IS canon. The comics and new books are filled with new Scum characters and ships. Most notably (for me at least) Sana Solo and her YT-2000!!!
Holy cow. Han has some explaining to do!
When reading those comics I remember thinking "Oh, it'll all turn out to be some crazy misunderstanding"... but you know, we have no assurance that the Han of Episode 7 is actually married to Leia, or is even involved with her. So this lady may very well end up his wife.
Boy oh boy that would really tick off alot of people.

YOUR CANON HAS BEEN BURNED, AND NO AMOUNT OF SCRAPING WILL REMOVE THE BLACK BITS!

And who knows.... Han and Sana may have had a.... *insert possible spoiler here*

Double sex change transplant?(!)
My dream Wave 9:
Assault Gunboat
TIE Avenger
Missile Boat
Another Assault Gunboat
(Honorable(?) mention goes to T-wing, R-41, Stormtrooper Transport, and those cargo transports that look like giant Kit Kat bar TIEs.)
What we will get:
4 more SWG ships. Or something.

The comic issues where this happens are taking place just after A New Hope. It's possible she's just nuts as well. Wouldn't be the first time a crazy person has insisted they're married to someone that they aren't actually married to.
Edited by IxidorOr they could be estranged and she's a stalker ex.
Wave IX could be Force Awakens stuff. The so-called TIE/cog, that new First Order shuttle, maybe a revamped Falcon (seems unlikely). There are probably some other new ships that haven't been revealed yet.
Scum could use an Aces set for Starvipers and M3-A Interceptors.
Or they could be estranged and she's a stalker ex.
Well, in the next issue, it's made pretty clear that Han DOESN'T consider her his wife.
I wonder if she's Finn's mother. ![]()

Your ship choices are fine, but did you see the new starter with Ep VII ships in it? FFG doesn't get information on Tuesday and put out a set on Friday - I believe there was an interview with a designer where he said they work two to three sets in advance, so if there are going to be more Ep VII ships (and I fully expect there to be more) then FFG is probably already working on them in the design and testing phase. I don't think that every set from here on will be Ep VII, but we will probably see more sooner rather then later. I, for one, can't wait to get a T-70 booster (or two).
Prediction: There will be spaceships.
Want: Spaceships that are fun and effective to play in the game.

Actually, the fact we don't have no real named pilots other than Poe Dameron shows FFG didn't have inside information.

This is the best answer.
At least I can pronounce 'Blue Ace'.
I still want a ground based version of the game.
Instead of Epic PLay, we can have Ground-Based play as an alternate format. All your normal (Non-epic) ships can still participate, and fly within atmosphere. The new components will be the new base for the AT-ATs and other large vehicles.
There will also be new "debris" tokens, representing hills, craters, and other obstacles which should be avoided. naturally, flying craft fly over top of this stuff so they are fine.
You have:
AT-AT - Huge Rectangular base, uses the huge ship manuever template.
AT-ST - small base
Rebels have:
Snowspeeder (Or more likely, Airspeeder as now all battles will be on Hoth)
Stationary Turrets
Ewoks?
Scum has:
Sail Barge (Huge base, same size as AT-AT)
Skiffs (Small base, but fairly larger than the base, similar to K-Wing size)
Cloud Car (Small Base)
Rancor (First CREATURE in game!)
Why ground units? First off, they'll be cheaper. considering they have to deal with ground-only obstacles, they will come at a significant point reduction. a 100 point battle might see a rebel player with 10-12 miniatures on the table, as opposed to the previous hard limit of 8 for the space battles. Stationary Turrets would likely be the cheapest, at around 5-8 points each, and expansions would come with more than one per blister pack. Probably 3 turrets per expansion. Sure you can bring in your decimator to the ground battle... but it'll cost you almost 2 AT-AT's worth of points once you gear it out! Or something like that.
Ground units may also have the unique ability to move backwards. It may have to be a new color of manuever though, perhaps a Purple Maneuever - which, can only be done once per game? Just ideas.
Apart from new ships, Wave 9 should introduce objective based game, like in Armada (or Infinity the Wargame). This would add much more variety and all the game would be something more than kill-kill.
Edited by Fuego EstelarI'm quite certain they're done with Legends stuff and that they won't break into land-based craft or creatures (that should be a different game). (The only Legends things I can see them ever creating will be for epic Scum ships).
Wave 9 will most certainly be Kylo Ren's shuttle, some kind of title or upgrade or aces that includes a new YT-1300 model, a YT-2000 for Scum. If they dabble in Legends, it will be to keep producing Scum ships where EP7, comics, and Rebels aren't showcasing many. But I don't see that being the case, either. Star Wars is owned by Disney, and even before then, Star Wars made an ungodly amount of money from toys and games, so we can be absolutely certain EP7, comics, and Rebels (and perhaps even Battlefront, who knows?) will contain new ships to keep LEGO, FFG, MicroMachines, etc. happy. Oh geez, especially with the Christmas shopping season upon us. (Do you think a December 18th release date is coincidental? haha)
Say goodbye to your hopes for the TIE Avenger, T-Wing, Cloakshape Fighter, Dunelizard, R-41 Starchaser, XG-1 Assault Gunboat, Missile Boat, Skipray Blastboat, Preybird Starfighter, TIE Droid...
YT-1000?
On a side note, why does Han look constipated?
Why lot of people wants a new YT-1300? Just because the antenna? I'm the only one that don't want to see another copy of the same ship?
My predictions:
-Command Shuttle
-T70 Xwing
-TIE/fo Fighter
- Something cool for Scum
In addition of:
-Rebel Aces 2 (X-wing and E-wing)
-Imperial Aces 2 (Bomber and Defender)
-Scum huge ship (Epic)
-Scum Transport (Epic, Green Gozanti seen on SW-Rebels)

All that shows is that FFG wasn't authorized to release those names to us yet. They may have them and are keeping them back until Episode VII.
But, they may not have the names. They don't need names to design the ships and the abilities - they can just test stuff, and slap a name on it later. Not every name and ability have to go together like "Deathrain"

I agree with this. The names are exceedingly generic in the new Core Set.
Even when the didn't have names before, they still made up cool callsigns and used those.
The extra-generic names makes it seem like they're being intentionally restricted.

I did a mock-up of ground units once. The movement still needs to be complete remade, but you can get some idea.
