Wave 9 Speculation Thread... too soon you think maybe? Nah

By earlyfang, in X-Wing

Prediction:

New 1st order Shuttle

Updated Falcon (YT-1300 Refit?)

possibly 2 more ships from Episode 7

Scum gets Wilde Karrde huge ship.

It's never to early for a speculation thread! And I like your picks. :)

That said - if we get the YT2000, I'd like to see it with Scum - you'd really want the Azzameen family to be able to fly together.

Wave 9 will likely be influenced by whatever we see on December 18th that we haven't seen already, however.

Man, the YT-2000 had better not go to the Rebels...

Anyway, hoping for more SWG ships to make appearances.

TIE Aggressor for Empire. And, well, there's a wealth of choices still for Scum. But I think the Rihkxyrk and Krayt are on the top of my list.

Wave 9 could also be influenced by the book "Aftermath" as well, as there are some new ships in there. No clue what they LOOK like but there are new ships.

I'm sort of in favor of dropping the EU for rebels and imperials. Might have to keep it up a bit for a bit with scum.

My prediction now is the next two things we see will be a scum aces(Vaksai + ?????) and a TFA aces with a t70 and tie cog.

But these won't be wave 9. Wave 9 will of course be the "Battle of Naboo" starter set. ;)

I wouldn't be able to even guess the color of the proposed wave's packaging!

Blue and gray with crass "Force Awakens" logo? Basically starting an Episode 7 "game within a game" mess of expansions, re-done damage decks, increased power and utility tech, turned up to 11? Not necessarily a power creep complaint, mind you.

Standard red and gray, like the rest of the game thus far? Never have we seen a separate logo "nod" to the ship's source material like this new starter set.

I am thoroughly confused.

Kimoglia or Dunelizard?

If we aren't getting a T-70 and TIE/FO expansions outside of a regular wave then that's exactly what I expect in wave 9.

I might expect Ello Atsy as a T-70 pilot. There's also another T-70 pilot we've seen, a non-human that's been referred to as "Bullhead" (Spoilery link). I'd guess at those two for the named T-70 pilots in an expack. I expect this miniature to be black and orange. If those guys don't show up... more annoying "unnamed" pilots.

As for the FO... Maybe Phasma has flown the FO? Maybe instead she'll show up in the special forces version that has the turret on the bottom and the rotating antennae on the top. Probably just some more "unnamed" pilots, I suppose.

The wave could have an additional ship for the Empire, the Special Forces TIE, or it could replace the FO in the wave, instead. Scum could get one or two ships again as they did in the previous two waves but with the TFA stuff maybe FFG will want two Resistance and two First Order ships. Not sure what the second Resistance ship would be, though.

I'm pretty sure bullhead is Asty.

I'd probably have to go dunelizard based on roles missing for scum, but it depends on how they flesh it out. One of the two definitely makes sense.

If we're talking Aces pack, then both the Vaksai and Dunelizard could potentially make good proxies for the Kihraxz and Scyk - give them both title cards that allow Salvaged Astromechs, maybe a card which allows the Scyk to take an Illicit Upgrade (at the expense of a modification, maybe).

Is shipping redesigned models rather than repainted models in an Aces pack financially viable? I don't know.

The Kimoglia would be S&V's Punisher/K-Wing equivalent, I guess.

Dang. Well surely there's going to be at least one more pilot that's been given a name in the film.

I can't find any clear enough pictures of the action figure card to see what the name is.

I would think T-70 and TIE/FO expansions are in the works considering how generic their pilots were. FFG is probably waiting on Episode 7 to be released before anything else can be leaked, but it would make sense to ride the hype from the film.

The Scum are getting a lot of attention in what IS canon. The comics and new books are filled with new Scum characters and ships. Most notably (for me at least) Sana Solo and her YT-2000!!!

I predict the Rebels will get the Scurrg H-6 bomber. If you don't know, that's Nym's ship from the Jedi Starfighter series of video games. It may be technically a prequel ship, but the ship does appear in Armada's upcoming "Rogues and Villians" pack, and will now be the only ship in that pack that hasn't yet gotten the X-Wing treatment. In fact, it also appears that Nym himself might be a crew card in the pack. According to Wookiepedia, his ship was a prototype during the game series, so its possible that now the production model of the ship exists during the Galactic Civil War era.

Yes it is! Star Wars #6

aaand, the Ebon Hawk. It got, err, frozen. Yeah.

That doesn't look like the YT-2000 to me, unless heavily modified. Maybe I've missed a known variant but it doesn't have the same curves nor the cutout around the cockpit.

Closest thing I've found is Courageous, a modified YT-1300 but that doesn't look right either.

Either they've heavily modified the look of the YT-2000 from it's previous looks, it's a variant of the YT-2000 or YT-1300, or it's a new ship that they didn't bother to put a name on.

Or I missed something.

Indeed.

Might be interesting if they have an ability like this: If your manouvre template or base crossed or overlapped an obstacle, and you can still attack, increase the value of your primary weapon by one. This would have an amazing synergy with R5-X3.

Sana's ship might not be a 2000. It has yet to get a name. It does not exactly match any know YT variant (both canon and extended) but the 2000 is the closest match.

Greg Grunberg.

From what i can see, his character is named "Gorwyn" and he is the leader of Blue Squadron. Ello Asty is a different character.
