Developing List: Death Back 'n OZ

I happen to have 2 tie/FO and really wanted to use them. I happen to love Deathrain. Combine...profit?

Deathrain+ adv sensors + ex Muni + Connor + prox mine + hull

Zeta Ace + PTL

Omega Ace + PTL

Backstabber

4 ships that all get off on being left alone. You want to kill them all first but probably can't. Deathrain rains death on anything that he gets in range 1. Z is the most annoying arc dodger under 25pts (thinking of taking the hull off Deathrain just to make him meaner). Omega drops 2-3 automatic crits a round... That will hurt (especially after Deathrain strips sheilds). Backstabber is the most hated tie ever and is probably 3rd or 4th priority here.

It certainly has problems since the list only has 2 Att across the board. But it has more than that. Much more.

Usually I have tips, tactics, and insights to share at this point. I haven't flown this yet. It looks like pure fun though. What do you see here? What are the "unwinnable" match ups? Who does this just kill? What are some variants?

I haven't seen the new TIE's in action yet, so I can't speak from experience, but just looking at them, even with the extra shield, they seem a bit fragile to turrets (particularly twin laser turrets) since they can't take autothrusters. They also don't pack a huge punch, so I wonder if you can dish out damage fast enough to avoid the inevitable war of attrition that occurs when battling turrets.

I've only flown deathrain a few times, but I can't help but feel he is just a bit inferior to Darth Vader. Yes he offers some different tricks (the connor net or even an ion bomb can be really handy), but at the end of the day, I haven't found his damage output to really be equal to other ships in his price range, in particular I find Vader more appealing due to his much higher impact in terms of raw damage.

I like the idea of your list though.

The next list I want to try with Deathrain shares some similarities to this (includes deathrain, some TIEs and crits):

Deathrain w/ advanced sensors, extra munis, proximity & ion bombs = 36 (may go with enhanced scopes, proximity & conner net instead)

Vader w/ title, ATC, predator, proton rockets & engine = 40

2 academy TIEs = 24

Prockets could be dropped to add hull on Deathrain, but I figure since he's going to die almost every game, its better to get as much damage in before he goes then to worry about keeping him around longer (and its questionable whether one extra hull helps much on an agility 1 ship). I'm finding academy TIEs are really helpful for deathrain, since their blocking power helps him line up his bombing run easier and they can't really get hurt in the blast given his loadout. I haven't actually flown this list yet though, so its all just theory at this point....

It's all theory. I just unpacked my core set last night.

Not sure they can punch fast or hard enough against turrets but I'm willing to be wrong (or prove that wrong). I don't think they are less durable than ties but not as offensively efficient but some shenanagins to make that up a bit. I don't know.

What is this list good vs.?
