Thoughts on T70, Tie F/O and Punisher, and TLT...

By Plainsman, in X-Wing

My son and I tried out some of the new ships and upgrades today...

TLT on one ship in a build isnt great, but I can see how multiples in a build, concentrating fire on a single ship could be DEVASTATING!! The first could strip tokens and possibly land a hit or two. The following ships could then keep landing hits.

The Tie Punisher is a BRUTE! Having boost really helps it in the maneuvering dept! I left it bare just to see how it flies and how long it would last. I liked how it flew immensely and it was the last ship of the last game! It received a pilot critical at a crucial moment and wasnt able to attack Gemmar at R1 when Gemmar had one hull left!! Gemmar got behind the punisher and landed four more hits in the next two turns to win!

The Punisher with a good secondary loadout will be amazing on the board!

The Tie F/Os were good and beefed up the mini swarm! They werent extraordinary but were beneficial! The one shield helped both early on and the SLoop was used by both at critical points!

The T70 was good and the extra shield helped, but my son managed to land it on a mine with one hull left...I would have liked to have seen it in the fight a bit longer!

BB-8 helped the T70 a couple of turns get into better positions and I could see the combo create quite the dodger!

Overall I liked everything we had on the table today! I want to get the Scum and the KWings on the table next!

My son is having fun again with the Rebels, which is good to see! I think he got frustrated with them and with so much Scum lately, he didnt have many new things to try! So Ill probably be using Scum against his Rebels.

Sounds like you both had a lot of fun. Cheers for your mini-review - I'm definitely looking forward to flying that Punisher.

I flew Deathrain with Adv Sensors and Exp. Interface. I fell in love.

Ooooo... Haven't thought about Experimental Interface, but I have also been having a BLAST with Deathrain and Advanced Sensors, proton bombs, Prox mines, and extra munitions. Been flying him with Soontir and a Royal Guard, both with title, AT, Mark2 engines, and PTL. The Mk2 engines may seem like a waste on Interceptors, but that green 3-bank is slick.

Out of two matches on Sunday, Deathrain dropped all 8 bombs and scored decent hits with every drop.

I flew zeta ace and the 2 barrel roll is really nice for keeping in formation and zipping around asteroids.

Such equipped Deathrain gives me this Soontir vibe. Depending on situation. Action via Adv Sensors, drop mine, Barrel Roll, EI action, Boost, assign stress, finally reveal manouver (green for lolz), remove stress token :D

With the Punisher, I had fun with 'Redline' with FCS and Cluster Missiles. Spend one lock to fire, the second to reroll as needed. After first wave of missiles, reacquire the locks to fire the second with the lock reroll option still there. On low agility ships, it's devastating....

Bottom line, Tie Punishers are fun (at least the named ones)

Would the second wave of missiles give 2x TL via FCS (I assume yes)?

the sequence is like this:

TL action --> gain 2 TL

Fire first cluster missle ---> spend 1 TL to fire

Use 2nd TL to modify dice

FCS kicks in ---> gain 2 TL

2nd attack ---> use one to modify dice

FCS kicks in again --- > gain the one spent back and still have 2 at the end of the round

Yup. FAQ says treat cluster missiles as two seperate attacks against the same target. FCS gives you a TL after you perform an attack.

Edit: Ninja'd. With details!
