FFG play mat question.

By Combanzai, in X-Wing

I have one of the FFG play mats and it has been in storage for a while. When I took it out of the box recently half of it has kind of a honey comb look to it. It doesn't lay 100% flat. Anyone else have this problem? If so do you have a tested, not theoretical, fix for it?

I was planning to place a towel over it and iron it but I would hate to destroy it.

Thanks in advance.

Back roll it?

Lay it flat then place some heavy flat objects on top like boxes or large books. Leave it that way for a few days.

Yea I wouldn't do that. Keep heat away from it even if you think the deformation was caused by heat in the first place.

You're going to risk melting that soft rubber.

I've seen a few FFG mats with that weird kind of rippling, seemingly from a combination of storage and temperature extremes.

When rolled up have you been storing it laid flat or stood up on its end? I noticed the exact same thing after a few weeks on one that I'd had stood up on its end. I've since had both of mine laid flat in the boot (trunk for those in the USA) of my car for the last few months and the issue has gone away on the one that had it.

I had this priblem too. I realized it was from storing rolled up and standing upright. I now keep it rolled in a document tube-bag lying flat. Leaving it layed out and open for a month usually fixes it and a slighty warm iron (and patience) does take out most wrinkles... and kills germs/bacteria.
