Fighting Arc Dodging PTL users: Nera Dantels + Kwing + Jake Farrell

By davidhaus, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Hey everyone,

I've recently struggled fairly significantly against any kind of arc dodgers who are utilizing PTL and Autothrusters. Obviously this includes guys like Soontir and Jake primarily. It's just unreal the action economy they have with a little bit of stress that goes away no problem with great dial options. I've toyed with different ideas about how to fix this, and much of it has to do with the way I fly my squad. But after seeing a Nera Dantels list terrorize a Tie Interceptor build, I started thinking about ways to abuse her ability to shoot Flechette Torps outside of her arc. I love the BWing aces, but have never tried her out. So though I don't see this as a tournament competitive list, it does scratch an itch.

PILOTS

Nera Dantels (33)
B-Wing (26), Fire-Control System (2), Flechette Torpedoes (2), Flechette Torpedoes (2), Munitions Failsafe (1)

Warden Squadron Pilot (34)
K-Wing (23), Twin Laser Turret (6), Extra Munitions (2), Proximity Mines (3)

Jake Farrell (33)
A-Wing (24), A-Wing Test Pilot (0), Proton Rockets (3), Push the Limit (3), Autothrusters (2), Veteran Instincts (1)

So the idea is to keep Nera at range 2-3 of the arc dodger and either a) punish them for using PTL by adding a second stress with FTorps or b) at least make them think twice about using PTL in fear of the double stress. If they do double stress, the next turn would be hugely important for getting as much attacks as possible on an actionless Soontir. If they don't double stress, then it's a different type of game. I just love the fact that the Flechette Torps will give the stress even if they evade/Stealth Device/Authothrusters away the damage. But hopefully Jake could get close enough for the range 1 PRockets or the Warden has a nicely timed Prox Mines if they're following too closely for the TLT to take effect.

Any thoughts or feedback? I have no idea how this would fair against other lists, but it seems fun to try in a casual environment.

I would go with Deadeye on Nera instead of FCS. Will give you a point for initiative bid for Jake but more importantly means she doesn't have to get that first TL on someone who is going to be moving after her and could be out of range to TL when it is her turn to move/action

That's solid. I thought about Deadeye earlier as well. Could be great for the first round of passes as well.
