Hopefully this wasn't posted before. I was curious of all the positions a K-Wing with Advanced Slam could drop a Connor Net so I decided to load up Vassal and test it. Before I went through this exercise my feeling was that it could get you almost anywhere within Range 3 and it's firing arc.

Here are the results:

So this is all the positions a K-Wing could drop a Connor, including all the non-SLAM positions. Any ship within firing arc, range 3 and facing the K-Wing can most likely be Connor netted or at least fly through the net after their maneuver. The K can also get you anywhere within range 2 180 degrees in front of it. Pretty scary stuff, especially for ships like Soontir or Vader. Arc dodgers would do well to stay behind the K-Wing at all cost. A Warden with Advanced Slam and Connor Net supported by some heavy hitters to capitalize should be a fun and viable squad.

there are two counters, though, and they're both implied right in A-slam's text

1.) overlapping obstacles

2.) overlapping enemy ships

it's a war of positioning, which makes the K-wing the best most fun ship ever

It takes some practice to get it where you want it. I have twice flown a 35-point warden off the map while trying to land a Connor on Vader.

Deathrain should be much easier to do as there is only 2 places to drop per maneuver. Advanced Sensors only gives him two extra option to drop a bomb. The K-Wing had 54 spots! Do you want me to do it with a Connor? or Clusters? or something else?

Deathrain is far less impressive looking, for sure, but he's actually easier to drop mines with because he can simply saunter up to his victim and vomit forth a conner net. He has no need for the K's complex SLAMing to point your butt at the enemy

You can actually add to this if you equip him with Experimental Interface...the options would significantly increase as you could do a maneuver THEN boost THEN drop a Cluster to reach beyond range 3.

Actually, I'm pretty sure someone coined that a long time ago for something else (swarm of blocking TIEs, maybe?).

I've had a few games with the following squad:

Warden + Connor + Extra Munitions + Advanced Slam

Blue Squadron + FCS

Blue Squadron + FCS

Rookie

100pts

The Warden throws down a Connor on a ship and the Bs and X try and get in range 1 to take it out. The Warden is tanky enough that I haven't had any trouble deploying and landing both Connor nets in every match on a high value target. You could probably take another bomb and not waste the points. I feel like that extra 1HP is huge. Even playing against K-Wings or Punishers you can feel the difference.

I would love to replace the rookie somehow, but I also like the FCS on the B-Wings. Some options are:

Drop one FCS and replace Rookie with another Blue

Replace Rookie with a Wired + PTL Green Squadron Pilot

Drop both FCS and replace the Rookie with a Gold + TLT

Drop both FCS and replace the Rookie with 2 Bandits

Drop both FCS and replace the Rookie with a Gold + BTL + ICT + R3A2

Lots of options...I think I do like the Stressbot Gold idea.

I played a game with two K wings with connor nets and only with two nets ( i forgot the extra ones from extra munitions!) i was able to totally deny whole areas to the empire player by dropping them between asteroids.

Yeah it was a tie swarm tactic to deal with prenerf phantoms.

Stressbot would really ruin someones day, agreed! It makes the netted victim predictable and much more squishy, but the downside is wasted ion on an ioned target. Tricky!

I've actually been playing around with something similar, but instead of the FCS on the Blues, I've been running a Seismic as well on the K, and R3-A2 on the Rookie. It's been interesting, I can't wait until the meta ejects from the 2 ship meta and I stop coming across dual Predators though. Though with the recent nerf to SLAM, I'm not sure how it'll do. The Seismic is still kinda necessary, but it's not as versatile now.

Obviously Bombardier makes it even more-so, but this does a pretty good job of illustrating that you're probably okay without it. I guess it might be useful if obstacles or blockers prevent the route you need to take to get somewhere.

The idea of pairing a Stressbot with this build is all sorts of horrific. You may run into issues with swarms and stuff like BBBBZ, but it'll utterly maul the elite aces.

Very nice work with the visual chart of exactly how many ways there are for you to mess with someone with Conner Nets!

I really like it. Ions and multiple stress is just nasty. Netted and quadruple stressed Poe (Wired, R5-P9, AT). Couldn't take him out (he's another tanky regenerating Corran Horn), but at least he was out of the game for 4-5 rounds. Game ended up being super close, it was the 2hp Warden vs a 1hp Poe that was stressed. Both ships facing each other outside of range 3. I was getting a little frustrated with my red dice and was about to concede here as Poe would most likely PS kill the Warden in the next turn. Decided to continue. Here is what happened (picture was done after the fact, but its very close to how it unfolded):

I do a 3 bank with the Warden then SLAM with a 3 forward and drop my second Connor. Poe does a 1 bank to de-stress and lands straight on the Connor. Game Over.
