Fist part of background online, today a little bit to dizzy to continue. And I have a little bad news- my girlfriend and I decided we need a litte bit of change of air- so we do a short trip, will be back on Sunday even.
The Oncoming Storm OOC
Well I'm reenacting this weekend so don't expect much in the way of posting until Sunday night. So if everyone gets everything set up, their character sheets finalised and happy and a Destiny point roll made, I'm setting a tentative target of Monday morning (around 1000 GMT) for the IC thread to launch (that is provided Korro Zal has a character sheet out).
If someone wants to collate the group ideas into a short definite background confirming how you got together that would be cool.
Just y'all know, I took 3 ranks in Knowledge (Warfare) so Rast be a good second in command.
Or the tactical consultant, gently guiding the enthusiastic but slightly-useless officer in battle
"[Clears throat]...uh, sir... the enemy is that way." *points*
Oh, that is so reassuring...
Would it have been possible for my PC to have met/fought alongside at least one or two of the other PCs? I really like the Motivation I've got going (Squadmates), and would love it if I could just tweak it instead of dumping it altogether. If I have to change it, I could use some guidance, as I'm drawing a blank ![]()
Certainly, he could have had prior contact with any of the others. He could have extracted Marcelus from a mission, fought alongside Dag or Vohr, or worked alongside T9 on an intelligence mission.
Well since at this point I'm calling you Hawkeye and imagine I'll have to throw in a red-skinned, duel-blaster-wielding Twi'lek at some point, I think we can have arrows as a narrative thing. Perhaps you have arrow shafts tightly packed in a quiver, with the heads attached when you draw them based on what you need (the heads being flat-packed until needed). But don't think I won't be throwing empty quivers at you every chance I get...
Out of curiosity, if I were to (say) buy into the Gunner or Recruit specializations later on and pick up Spare Clip, would that work for arrows if we were going narrative?
That would be some truly powerful plot manipulation. But I might let you get away with it...
I'm still working on the character, but here's the skeleton of it so far:
If I am looking at sheets correctly, is it the case that Dag is the only one with a long-range weapon? I am debating ditching my heavy blaster pistol for a heavy blaster rifle if I am reading that right. Initially I conceived of my medic character as being more lightly armed since he'd often need a hand free to administer a stimpack or the like, but maybe a rifle on a sling could work as well and let him provide better support by also being capable of long-range fire. With that said, I've not played a ton so maybe having little long range, but plenty of medium, is not much of an issue. Thoughts from those with more play experience?

I've got a Medium range weapon and 2 ranks of sniper shot...
And I lower the difficulties when shooting at Long & Extreme range, so really all I have to worry about is the Difficulty upgrades from Sniper Shot ![]()
It'll be fine...trust me...
Or, you know, maybe I shouldn't be our only option...
Edited by awayputurwpnPersonal experience would say that a rifle on a sling properly tightened across the chest isn't obtrusive at all if you're administering a medpac or anything (though that was one time in Cadets, and I wasn't actually doing any medicing, I was just doing things at the bivouac, so I'm not calling myself an expert)
Certainly, some better firepower at all ranges is nothing to sniff at and probably a good idea.
A longarm would be a good idea I think- if you have the credits. If you want something more compact, perhaps also a carbine would suffice

I really love that idea.
By the way, I'd volunteer to write the background.
Does anyone have any ideas, for his character or in general?
So far we've got the following important plot strings
- A new Special Forces squad has been established for several yet unknown missions for the squad
- The astromech droid T9-M4, a long standing member of Special Forces, was instructed to find suitable candidates in the Republic military databases
- A small number of applicants were invited to pass several tests.
- The medical and psychological tests were performed by Ash of the Republic Medical Corps. Unknown to him, he was considered as a candidate as well. After the end of the examinations he got new orders that surprisingly for him placed him in the squad as well.
- Marcelus was chosen as commanding officer. He was a SIS officer who had already expressed the wish to work with a small team.
- Dag, a mercenery, had recently offered his services to the Republic, when he was invited to Coruscant for several obscure tests...
- Rast was already a long standing member of Special Forces. He worked together with T9-M4 on several missions. After their last mission, their old squad bas disbanded, and T9-M4 got the command to sift through some databases on Coruscant...
- So far, I've got no background information for Rion. As a saboteur, he was probably already a member of Rast's and T9-M4's old team as well.
- Vohr has volunteered for work with the Special Forces to be far away from the Jedi council and to distract himself from the death of his master.
- After the squad had gathered together, they were placed on a transport with the destination Nar Shadaa. They were told that more specific orders would be given to them en route.
- Rast was given the position of tactical consultant, to gently guide his rather inexperienced commanding officer...
Any more ideas? Is that background ok.
Why was Rast's, T9-M4's, and maybe Rion's old squad dispanded? Had they simply accomplished their missions, got the rest of the team wiped out, or did something else happen?
Wulie, somehow I can't see your full background story. The story stops after the council refused to knight Vohr.
Edited by FeBommelI'm taking that Destiny roll to mean you're all happy with your character sheet
Yes, I'm quite happy.
I am afraid I am not ready with my background. I apologise for that.
Btw: I am not an aggressor anymore
Not a problem, you've got a bit of time anyway. I've updated your frontpage entry. Nice use of the specialisation!
No problem at all Wulie. Does the group story match up with your character story?
Matches well, well done

Yeah, I was thinking of having a weapon sling for it, figuring that would still give me the freedom to do the quick field medic stuff I might need to do during an actual firefight. More complex medical work probably isn't feasible to do in a firefight and so it would be in a situation where the rifle can outright be set aside.
I do have credits to get a rifle. I just need to ditch the pistol (which was a pricy high-end one). I'll be able to get the DH-X heavy blaster rifle with weapon sling, which looks to be a really solid choice.
Also, awesome work, FeBommel on organizing the background information for the team formation.
I really love that idea.

I love this. Well done for getting it together. Some points though:
- Perhaps Rast and Rion were the last survivors of the same squad?
- Vohr's master isn't dead as far as I know
- T9 wasn't a member of any squad. He's sort of the external consultant who goes along with them
Just a reminder that I won't be that available this weekend. Everyone get everything together so we're good to go on Monday. Oh and Korro you only get 10 Duty to start with. You've got it down as 20

Love that idea. Korro Zal, is that cool with you?
Maybe you were the last survivors of a team that fought in the guerrilla war on Alderaan?
