The Oncoming Storm OOC

By ColonelCommissar, in Star Wars: Age of Rebellion RPG

Well that about wraps up Episode 1 - First Shadows! Each of you gains 10xp and 5 Duty for what has occurred here. In addition, Rion, T9 and Marcelus each gain an additional 5 Duty thanks to their Sabotage/Intelligence/Counter-Intelligence Duties.

Secondly, allow me to introduce our new player FCastor, with his character Jeren Vallin, who'll be brought in early in the next episode - Hutt Justice.

Hello guys! Glad to be here. I am reading through the IC thread and should be done in a bit. Seems like a fun game and a fun group.

If you want to take a look at the character, here he is.

Jeren Vallin

@FCastor: Welcome! Jeren sounds like an interesting character - a bookworm sent on a diplomatic mission, what could possibly go wrong? ;-)

@ColonelCommissar: Thanks for all your work! It was a really fun episode - you have me definitly thrilled to experience the rest of the season. Should I take over Vohr for the next episode as well? Then I have to think about spending his XP...

@all: Yeah, the first episode is finished! It was, as Marcelus would phrase it, an honour playing with you!

Edit:

@ColonelCommissar: Should we remove all our strain or does the second episode start directly after the end of the first?

Edit 2:

@ColonelCommissar: Has more than one day passed between episodes (important because of the stimpack regulations)? Do the characters still have their armor (I have to update the Strain/Wounds chart's absorption rating if not)?

Here is the strain/wounds chart for the second episode "Hutt Justice". I'll edit it every time any changes occur:

By the way, here is the roll for the pocket money.

"Pocket money": 1d100 54

As far as the remaining 10 XP are concerned (the GM was kind enough to start me on equal footing with you guys XP- and Duty-wise), I am thinking of spending the 5 XP on the Control Upgrade (Pull Object) of the Move Force power and save the other 5 XP for next time so I can move closer to the Force Rating talent once I have enough. What do you think?

Thanks everyone, with a special tip of the hat to our GM.

Also, welcome aboard FCastor.

You can each remove all strain. The next episode will begin a day or so after the last. Dag and Vohr's status will be elaborated on in the first new IC post, but there's no need to worry about them at this point. As for clothing/armour, that would be taken away by the Hutt guards. Armoured characters still have their undersuits on, but mechanically you all lose the benefits of armour (except for Jeren, as you shall see why).

As to lessons that I at least have learned, the first was don't try to over-complicate things. We've got a talky-talky episode next, but for those of you who are worried don't be. The shooty-shooty/stabby-stabby will resume shortly.

Thanks for the clarifications. I updated the chart with the new soak/defense ratings. Am I right that Tee-Nine won't loose any benefits? After all, his armor and gear is built in...

Concerning the earned XP, I'm going to save them until I can afford the last upgrade for Inspiring Rhetoric (20 XP).

Edited by FeBommel

I've been thinking about that one, but TeeNine's gear is indeed built in. However, the modular parts like his weapons have been removed.

A restraining bolt would probably do the trick

And lo, Stockholm Syndrome set in in a record time.

I'm waiting on you guys' xp expenditure to continue the game. Thus far only Jeren has had his spent, while Marcelus is saving up for later. Once I hear from all of you that it's been spent I'll move things on.

Ashrym is saving.

Alright then, a good option.

Picking up the rank in Grit at the top of the Gunslinger tree for 5 XP, banking the rest!

So we're just waiting on Revanchist7 and Korro Zal for their xp expenditure. I'd best get started on my side of things!

Done. Chose to save xp.

Revanchist7, the world is waiting...

Just for the record, if we haven't heard from Revanchist7 on how he wants to spend his xp (or he hasn't signalled that we should at least wait, so if he sends me a message, posts a reply or 'likes' the post then I'll wait) by Monday morning then he'll have to bank it until next time. I don't want to force him out but I feel I should move things along.

Going to buy the first rank in Stealth and Knowledge Underworld, both are career for 5 xp each. Sorry for the lateness, I should have chimed in that holiday plans would keep me busy.

Ah no worries! Good to see you back, but if you could provide advanced warning in future that might avoid any unnecessary confusion.

The narrative will progress ASAP.

Duty Roll: 1d100 22

Rion's Duty is triggered for this episode.

Like FeBommel suggested in the IC thread, could Ashrym make a Knowledge Underworld or Outer Rim check to see what he knows about the Hutt justice options? That is, is there even an option for some sort of ritual combat? Is there any precedent for individuals (or groups) "working" off their crimes through service? Or, is it basically get yourself found innocent or do time/execution? I think, right now, we're not exactly sure OOC what our options are.

If we have to just mount a defense, then FeBommel has about our only prayer. Try to claim we were ordered to do this by a Hutt (yes, "we were just following orders"). Since the Imperials will totally say they saw us kill other Imperials so it will be hard to outright deny it, "We found them dead. Poor bastards."

You could make a Hard Knowledge (Underworld) check, since this is still fairly new information for the Republic and not widespread knowledge. That would roughly outline your options, depending on how well you did.
