Yeah, astromechs for the win!
The Oncoming Storm OOC
Alright, I know I'm telling you to modify your backgrounds a lot but this one's easier. Could you guys between you agree on how you came to be together? Originally I had thought you were a generic special forces team but I've re-evaluated that. How did one (maybe two) Jedi, a merc, a droid, a noble, a doctor and an archer end up together?
Also, Korro Zal, a lightsaber pike hilt costs 600 credits, which you can afford if you spend your 9000 credits on an Ilum crystal and swap some Duty for some credits

It all started with that cheesy joke...

I guess you meant me. I am not Korro, I am afraid ![]()
For me it's easy: After Marcelus's last stunt on Kothlis as a solo spy (see his background story), high command wanted to task him him with some very important high-risk missions (high-risk as in almost deadly), he on the other hand wanted to work in a team. Because of his versatile talents he was transferred from SIS to the Special Forces Department. SIS was only too happy to see him go, then they hadn't to worry about his horrendous expenses any more. In exchange, they got some SpecOp troops to infiltrate various bountyhunter guilds. His new commanding officers assigned him to this team.

So, we don't have anyone playing a commander career, which might have been the obvious choice for someone pulling a team together. Random thought #1: T9-M4 is, at least in part, doing intelligence work for the Republic. Perhaps part of that involved doing some analytic work to pull together a team with a specific set of skills (for reasons above T9's "pay grade", but based on the parameters for his identification algorithim, maybe T9 might be able to deduce that even if we're not completely filled in). I'm willing to additionally throw my character under the bus, that he was initially brought in to just perform what he thought were basic physical and psych evals for people identified by T9. But no, he got sucked into this little crew as well on a longer-term basis following his assessment work.
This is only part of a background. What percentage of a background? Twelve percent. Needs some help.
Nice idea, Khesh. Now I want to know the selection algorithm that identified my character as the perfect fit for this team ;-)
Maybe one of the Jedi could fill the role of official commander of the team? It isn't unheard of Jedi in other ages to solve important missions in small teams (often only a master and a padawan like for example Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan). While the Jedi of the Great War rather serve on the battlefields, some of them surely go on crucial small scale missions. Jedi would probably have a quite high rank in any Republican organization.
Is this their first mission together? My character has only been member of Special Forces for a short time (less than a year), but that would be long enough for several short missions or one to two longer deployments.
Rast is apparently a long standing member of Special Forces. Maybe he already worked together with T9-M9 and the Jedi?
Korro Zal apparently wants to play a spy or saboteur. He could be part of the old team as well.
Dag as a mercenary sounds like a security leak on two legs, but he probably has a reputation that good that nobody wanted to pass on him. Maybe he already has experience in the part of the galaxy we're going to operate in and a reputation of not betraying his employers.
New idea: Marcelus and Dag could be the new members of the team either as replacement for some deceased soldiers or specifically recruited by high command for the upcoming missions. The rest of the team would probably not even know why they got new squadmates...
I like the idea of my character meeting a well-rehearsed team for the first time. They could already have heard stories about him.
Edited by FeBommelI am as far as I know the only Jedi, and I am as far as I see the worst choice for a commander with a glorious Presence of 1.
Perhaps our Noble would be a good flagship for our crew?
Edited by WulieThis is your first op. You've known each other for a few weeks, while journeying from Coruscant to your first assignment on Nar Shaddaa
I rather thought commander as in the one responsible for the higher-ups. That does not necessary have to mean that he will actually lead the team during the missions, after all we're not your typical military Special Forces team. That would probably rather be a team effort ;-). Any Jedi would probably either be at the top or outside the command structure, at least in my opinion.
Of course my character could fill in the role of leader. He has a leadership dice pool of GGY which isn't very much but it could be enough for a start. Marcelus would probably love to lead his own team! But I just can't see that working out well...
But it could be possible.
Ah, it's our first op together. That suits my character concept well. Some of the others could probably still know each other from previous assignments.
To the topic of Marcelus filling out the role of flagship for the crew: Well, he is the social one.
Edit: I just saw that Rast has a Presence of 3 as well (but no ranks in leadership). Maybe he could be our leader?
Edit 2: My mistake, I somehow assumed that there would be two Jedi.

Well that's what happens when two people have the same avatar, I skip the name!

A very particular set of skills huh? Does this skill set involve high-level explosives management, minion disposal, GM-headache-inducing and tea drinking ability?
That's a good idea, although maybe instead given the volatility of the team Ash is a permanent assignment who's meant to keep them all (relatively) sane.
And I call that at least 23% of a backstory...

One of the Jedi certainly could be the official commander if that's what you people want. I know Marcelus is an officer though, so he could have it.
It was my understanding that Korro Zal was toying with a Sentinel/Shadow or a Spy or Saboteur. He'd have to tell us more. Certainly you can have crossed paths before if you want. You've gotten to know each other at least to the extent of the background in your character sheets in the course of the journey down the Corellian Run.
Pay a merc enough and he'll hold his tongue regardless. I'll let you all finalise the details of your characters. Could you all make sure that all backgrounds/descriptions/Duties (especially Duties) are all together. Once Korro Zal posts a sheet we'll be good to go
This is your first op. You've known each other for a few weeks, while journeying from Coruscant to your first assignment on Nar Shaddaa
Oh. Oops. I will really need to rework my motivations, then. I thought that we would have done some stuff together given all our experience.
Just a setting-type question, how can I best account for the high level of XP given by Knight Level? What kind of stuff might I have done, if not with this group? Just so I know how to better go about selecting motivations and such.
I'm feeling kinda under the weather, so my posting will be limited while I try to catch up on sleep (the joys of having a 1 year old).
Here's my sheet thus far...http://swsheets.com/c/olmdmx5no-rast-artayu

I like this. T9 is property of the Republic military, so it's fairly simple why he would be a part of the team.
Right now, my character is a Mirialan Spy/Infiltrator who also bought the Engineer/Saboteur specialization. After I finish tinkering with him, I'll post him here.
Does anyone have the Piloting skill? If not, I can take it.
I have a rank in each type
Vohr is disillusioned and knew only war for the last years- so he might have volunteered to have a purpose for his life.
By the way, as already mentioned I am not a native English speaker- so if you find parts in any of my posts that sound like total bull- do not hesitate to tell me.

I second that statement as I am not a native speaker either.
I thought about my character filling out the role of commander. It should work quite well if I rework my skills and talents.
I'd drop 1 rank in Coercion (+15XP) and the talent Knockdown (+10XP) for 2 additional ranks in Leadership (-25XP) and specialize along the Inspiring Rhetoric side of the Politico tree instead of the Scathing Tirade side.
That should make Marcelus a quite competent commander.
Would these changes be ok, ColonelCommissar?
Edit: Revanchist7, I just stole your signature format for mine. Is that ok? ;-)
Edit2: And I deleted the photo of Marcelus as I couldn't find out if it is copyright protected or not.
Edited by FeBommelI'm not sure if copyright is a major issue, since every Zabrak uses the photo from the Return trailer!
Those changes are fine. You can make whatever changes you want! But in all seriousness this was something I thought about. While you could have a democratic group, the Republic will need a chain of command. So we have:
Lieutenant Vaerson
Sergeant Artayu
Specialists Karm and Dibrimi
Knight Yondu
T9-M4
and Korro Zal's character
And I like that quote FeBommel!
Wulie, could you fill in Vohr's Background. If you wanted to expand on his Duty/Morality with some flavour text that might be interesting and help me shape the adventure around him. Khesh, if you wanted to add a description for Ash he's currently missing one.
Duty is currently 20, btw
Edited by ColonelCommissarYou mean total group duty, don't you?
Edit: Excellent, then I will change my character sheet later today.
Edited by FeBommelYeah, that's the total Duty. Sorry, should have clarified that!
Thanks for the clarification!
I updated Marcelus's character sheet. Could someone please check if I have accidentally spent to much XP? I have OggsDude's character generator not near me at the moment.
Edit:
- side: 1 rank in Coercion (15XP) + Knockdown (10XP) + Toughened (5XP) + Plausabile Deniabilty (10XP) + Scathing Tirade (10XP) + Well Rounded (Skullduggery + Stealth) (15XP) + Improved Scating Tirade (15XP) = 80XP
+ side: 2 ranks in Leadership (25XP) + Frenzied Attack (5XP) + Grit (5XP) + Kill with Kindness (5XP) + Inspiring Rhetoric (10XP) + Dodge (15XP) + Improved Inspiring Rhetoric (15XP) = 80XP
--> It should fit
Edited by FeBommelQuick question: Will we use an online software to roll the dice or should everyone roll them like he/she wants and just post the results?
We're using orokos.com/roll off dice rolls
Just y'all know, I took 3 ranks in Knowledge (Warfare) so Rast be a good second in command.
Khesh, if you wanted to add a description for Ash he's currently missing one.
I will get that done later this afternoon for sure.
