The Oncoming Storm OOC

By ColonelCommissar, in Star Wars: Age of Rebellion RPG

I've added a DR-45 Dragoon now (medium range, 8 damage, accurate 1). I currently also have Laminate Armor + a blaster rifle (to have long range as an option). I am debating dropping those two things to pick up Heavy Battle Armor or Protector 1 Combat Armor (from Dangerous Covenants) for the extra defense, but that would drain my coffers.

I'm working on an Engineer, well, more specifically a Technician from EOTE so I could keep my specs in-career, but I do have the Mechanic spec

I'm not planning on taking any other Engineering specializations beyond Saboteur, so if you focus on crafting/repairing via the other Engineering/Technician specializations we shouldn't have any overlap. You can build and fix things, and I'll blow things up.

My character bulding will be continued this afternoon. I am not perfectly satisfied with the aggressor...

Do we get a ship? Perhaps one of us should be able to fly it

I updated my character's motivation and description. The motivations in brackets will only be secondary motivations: They will have impact on my character's behaviour but no impact ruleswise (no bonus XP).

One quick question: Is Scathing Triade an average or hard check? I thought it had an average difficulty but I just found a Specialization tree on the internet that stated it as a hard difficulty.

Is his motivation ok? I labeled it as cause/religion, but I'm not perfectly sure if that fits.

Scathing Tirade is an Average (2) Coercion check according to the CRB

The motivation is excellent, I really like it. You've created a mad but brilliant character. We're nearly there. Korro, what's your character concept? Still thinking of a Sentinel/Shadow?

Okay so...hows about this?

I wanted a really competent shooter, but not someone who is completely overpowered. I think, maybe, I've got it. A Sharpshooter/Gunslinger who uses throwing knives and bow & arrow. Improve Quick Draw means he's never without a weapon or two, and Deadly Accuracy ensures some hitting power.

SWsheets is acting up on me right now, so I worked it up on OggDude's generator.

I picked up surveillance taggers and dendriton toxin along with the heavy battle armor...let me know if those are gonna be okay.

To be sure: Is the rule still 9000 credits or a basic lightsaber or did you cut the second option?

It's the standard 500 base credits, plus Duty credits, and for Knight-level either 9000 credits or a basic lightsaber. Although I'm willing to talk if you want to play pimp my saber hilt and get a double-blade or pike in exchange for obligation

Awayputurwpn, can I just ask how arrows work for the bow? How many are you carrying atm?

I am considering a pike... I am thinking about it :)

We could see some way of coming to an arrangement. Of course, it will cost you...

I am all ears ;) (I do not exactly know how you want to handle it- but I would have a little Idea for an oath)...

If you took on - shall we say, 20 Obligation? - in exchange for getting a lightsaber pike to go with your Ilum crystal, that would be a fair compromise. You can dictate it, but it needs to be something interesting that will challenge the character.

About the season's theme: "The things we lost" - Has anybody got an idea what my character could have lost? Of course besides his common sense - Sipping tea on battlefields and so on...

Stop, wait a minute. That would be a quite interesting idea. Maybe has to come back to the dark and gritty reality of war...

Any other suggestions?

Thats a little bit more than I had expected- I have to think about it, I am afraid.

Not a problem, just let me know. Although it's possible you can afford the staff with the crystal by using your Duty credits

I've got Synthetic Standard Neuroparalytic and Raquor Venom. Exploiting the weakness of organic systems sure is fun!

The only rules for arrows (from Suns of Fortune) are that "regular arrows are cheap to replace; if the GM needs to set a price he can charge 1 credit per arrow."

I was thinking of flavoring the extra reload that I had as a multiplicity of arrows...like a dual-stage quiver; one part holds a bunch of arrows really compact, and the other part holds several arrows loosely and easy to access (my main reason for taking the Quick Draw talent). Or maybe a combination of a compact-back quiver and bow quiver...not quite sure what look I like best.

I was thinking if I rolled a Despair, I could possibly run out of arrows and have to use the "extra reload" to replenish my quiver. I am not sure how well this would work in play, or if it is appropriate to model arrow use using the rules for blasters.

However you want to run it is fine...I can track arrows individually if you'd like me to. I still haven't rolled for pocket money, so I can put that towards purchasing arrows in game :) And I'm fine with whatever limitation you want to set on how many arrows can be carried. If I can't use the extra reload to represent arrows, then I have 25 credits left with which to purchase however many arrows you think I can carry.

BTW, I am at my encumbrance capacity with 6 knives on my person, and 6 extra knives stashed elsewhere. So if encumbrance becomes an issue with arrows, just let me know.

Well since at this point I'm calling you Hawkeye and imagine I'll have to throw in a red-skinned, duel-blaster-wielding Twi'lek at some point, I think we can have arrows as a narrative thing. Perhaps you have arrow shafts tightly packed in a quiver, with the heads attached when you draw them based on what you need (the heads being flat-packed until needed). But don't think I won't be throwing empty quivers at you every chance I get...

Do we get a ship? Perhaps one of us should be able to fly it

I could easily drop my 1 point in computers (T9-M4 is good with computers and I would still be okay with just raw INT) and pick up 1 in Space Piloting. I wouldn't be awesome, it would be 2G + 1Y, but it would be something. I might even be able to scrounge up a 2 in the skill. If someone else wants to be a pilot though, they should rock that. I don't know if we'll need one or if the intention is more that we'll just be getting dropped off and we won't worry so much about the approach in and the like. With that said, I am guessing if we had a pilot and gunners and the like, then we might see more scenes where we have to shoot down some TIEs. Our GM will have to give us some guidance on this one.

At least for the first part I have planned out, you won't have a ship for yourselves. There will be some galaxy-trotting (I'm looking at at least three worlds in the initial 'season', but you will be transported in style. Sort of. Ok you'll probably be in the dingy troop hold of a Republic battlecruiser, but the officers will have nice quarters!

In addition to an impressive up-to-date astrogation database, T9-M4 is also programmed to act as an autopilot.

I just saw that. T9 is rocking.
