Going forward...

What's the future of the OT core set?

1. Updated with the new components (rules/damage deck/asteroids etc).

2. Still be available with no changes to the components.

3. Not be reprinted.

4. Something else.

2. Except rules.

3 never makes any sense since they'd have to create expansions for all the named pilots and unique upgrades in there, along with the "old" rocks.

"Yeh'll need to go sideways, not forward. If I knew how, I'd go sideways meself."

...Move ahead!

Try to detect it.

It's not too late,

To whip it!

In regards to the OP subject matter: It will be interesting to see what the original core set evolves into. As mentioned, it does have unique ships, pilots, and upgrades in it. But, it does need the new templates, rules, damage deck etc...

I figure there will soon be a shortage of original core sets, and then in a couple months, the 'revised' edition will show up with the new things it needs.

The reprinted original core sets just hit stores. Has anyone bought a confirmed reprinted original set and checked its contents?

I'm guessing it will have a new damage deck and the new rules but every thing else will be the same.

the ideal is that the reprint contains updated rules reference and damage deck

i.t.o components (especially ships, yes even the X-wing because Biggs/Luke are pretty **** good) it requires no update whatsoever.

I know they probably won't but I really hope for a separate damage deck on sale, I would buy 2-3 of these as I have all three factions and often play with friends who use my ships/cards etc. I have no use for another core set as barring the damage deck there are no components that interest me enough for 1 let alone 3.

@Frostweasel:

I used to feel that way, until I somehow lost a single red die. And also broke one of my range rulers. At that point I started thinking about buying a 3rd Core Set (despite having 2 dice packs. Stupid need for symmetry).

Weirdly enough: a month after I started thinking about it, NuCore dropped. So it was meant to be, I guess. :)

I also often provide all the stuff for people I play with. As a result, I have a couple pre-assembled bags with 2 sets of dice, a damage deck, template set, tokens and range rulers all ready to go. I've thought about creating a 3rd bag- for the Scum ships. Since the point of the bag is "grab and play", I've held off. It's theoretically possible that I'd make 4 bags for Team Epic at my condo. But that seems like a bit more work than I want to put in for such a limited circumstance.
