Range 1 bonus for secondary weapons now?

Ok page 11 new rulebook.

Quote:

RANGE COMBAT BONUSES

Laser cannon volleys are much easier to avoid when the attacker and defender are far away from each other; similarly, avoiding enemy fire is much more difficult at close range.

To represent this aspect of dogfighting, the attacker or defender may roll a bonus die depending on the range of the attack. If the attack occurs at Range 1, the attacker rolls one additional attack die. If the attack occurs at Range 3, the defender rolls one additional defense die. At Range 2, neither ship receives an advantage.

In old rulebook it was noted that the bonus applies only to primary weapons now this is gone?

That means 6 dice prockets? 4 dice mangler? :D

On page 16 it says:

When resolving a primary weapon attack, the
attacker or defender may roll additional dice
depending on the range of the attack. At Range 1,
the attacker rolls one additional attack die during the
“Roll Attack Dice” step. At Range 3, the defender
rolls one additional defense die during the “Roll
Defense Dice” step.
• Range combat bonuses are not applied during a
secondary weapon attack.

Nice try, but there's still no range bonuses for secondary weapons.

On page 16 it says:

Never quote "rules" from the Learn to Play guide. It's for the new players who just want to crack open the box and be going "PEW PEW!" within minutes. The Rules Reference Guide is the authority.
