I think jamming coms may be important. They have likey been too busy with us to make a full report, perhaps we can keep away backup troops? Of course How crazy would it be to just fly into the cave? They wouldn't shoot a missile into the cave (We would have cover and they they would have to move to get a line of sight), by then we can use our turbo lasers to lay waste to anything threatening in the cave and set up a trap for when they return to the cave.
Edge of Darkness OOC
It would be very crazy to fly into a situation we know nothing about, giving up the advantage of maneuverability. Is there a cave? How deep is it? Is it inhabited? Does it have defenses? Since we don't know any of that flying into the situation seems unwise.
Jamming the communications seems very wise though.
There is a cave, and you've got sensor data on it suggesting that at the very least you could get an X-Wing through the mouth, but beyond that the sensors weren't able to map further than fifty feet down.
Ok, if Oro doesn't man the guns then Kixue will.
Tactical assessment. Boggards didn't wait for us to land or shut the vehicle down. Way I see it, use the storm to our advantage and get out of the valley. Either way, the security for the valley has been compromised.
Also, thank you for providing an object lesson. Geoff will be insisting that all communications gets checked before acting on it.
Vigilance Initiative: 2eA 0 successes, 3 advantage

The other thing Kixue could do is make a Valuable Facts skill check which would allow him to add a Triumph to someone's skill check. Assuming he doesn't take the gunners spot that may be useful.

As you progress down the line of cut-ins, the com beeps with a laser-coded message from Command.Three valleys back, grid ref 397-468. Good spot for a base. Check for further details. Out
What makes you think this wasn't from Command? It is a laser-coded message, referencing the objective of our little expedition. If this was a message from someone else, luring us into a fairly bad trap, that someone knows who we are, who we are working for, has a complex device that can fool even Liaka's combat scanner's communication function and knows the details of our mission.
If we were being lured into an ambush by a false message I assume the ambushers, knowing we will check out the site in detail, would wait for us to land.
I don't know who's ambushing us, but I'm fairly certain it isn't a complex plot with C&C compromised or people sending us laser-coded messages to lure us in. If it is, we have problems far larger than us being ambushed, since that means the whole cell is compromised. And given the fact that the Empire hasn't come down on the cell like a bag of hammers in that mountain village I find that highly unlikely. Compromising a supposed agent on the inside for the sole purpose of laying a (bad) ambush for one recon vehicle would be the height of stupidity.
All the more reason to take some of these people alive for questioning later!!!
Also what kind of speeder are we in again?
An Arrow-25 modified airspeeder. The 'character sheet' is listed on the first post. I've been keeping it updated.
Jaspor, could we have your Vigilance Initiative roll please?
I've decided to remove Jaspor from the game, given both his lack of interest and the delay in posting his Initiative.
Initiative: 3eA 2 successes, 2 advantage

Attacking Recon 1: 2eP+1eA+1eB+4eD+3eS 2 successes, 3 threat, 1 Triumph

So yeah. Another missile hits Recon 1, dealing 4 damage and crippling it.
Crit roll: 1d100 69
Navicomputer Failure - You are flying blind, as well as crashing. I'd like a Hard Piloting check to see what happens next.

So I take it we are still in range of the missiles despite the free maneuver Liaka used?
Hard piloting check, with assistance from co-pilot Kiuxi:
Forgotten Setbacks: 2eS 0 successes, 2 threat

You were in the Extreme range band, but would have had difficulty escaping it with one maneuver. I applied a Setback for it instead, plus one from your Defensive Driving (I forgot about that, sorry)
With a total of 5 Threat, the enemy initiative slot drops to last, and you can add a Boost to that Piloting roll.
Alright, the speeder noses over forwards and begins a rapid descent towards the ground. However, you are able to bring it up onto a much more stable curve, and thus the landing is not too rough. Furthermore, you can choose what range band you land in from the attackers, out to beyond Extreme. I'll narrate as such, and then it's a PC turn:

Sorry, guys. Things got a bit hectic and I haven't checked the forums in like a week. And I never did manage to get the new post notifications set up properly. ![]()
Oh well. Thanks for including me up to this point, and good luck with the rest of the campaign.

Can we delay that? Especially when we are in a combat encounter?
Since we are still airborne, what sort of check would Liaka need to perform to get us to the ground in one piece? Or, as few pieces as possible? ![]()

Delay what, exactly?

You're going down, but you rolled to determine how you hit the ground. I edited my previous post with an interpretation of your roll with the 3 Successes, but to remind you you can choose which range band you land in from the attackers, out to beyond Extreme if you choose.
I've narrated our crash ![]()
Liaka has put down the speeder as far away from the ambushers as possible, which would put us at beyond Extreme range.
So, since we are in structured time that would probably be an action (piloting check) and a maneuver to get out of the speeder.
Oh, and just to remind everybody, on board the vehicle we have the following. Liaka grabbed the crash kit, we should probably pick up as much of this stuff as we can before buggering out.
- Emergency medpac
- Crash survival kit
- Tent
- Climbing gear
- Five days' rations
- 2 blaster carbines
- 4 frag grenades
- 2 stun grenades
For some reason I am not getting the notifications as well. I will just check regularly
I will assume the good doctor will get the medpac (unless he has his own, then N97 will pick it up). As for the other gear, N97 will prioritize to the weapons, and will pick up whatever is left over (he has 3g for ranged heavy, 2g1y for ranged light). He will not grab first, but currently has not weapons (his goo gun is short range)
Yeah I'm better with pistols over rifles but I'll grab one of no one else does. I'll also grab the rations and climbing gear before bugging out. Also whose acting when? Are we still in init's?

Delay getting rid of Oro until after the encounter. Having a dedicated combat specialist would help us out for a little bit.
Emergency Med-Pac is lower on the list since I have quite a bit more medical gear.
I'll be the last out since I am relatively use-impaired in a combat situation. Priority should be the crash kit, climbing gear, tent, frag grenades, stun grenades, rations, carbines, and finally the medpac. If possible, can N97 prevent our vehicle from exploding long enough to get the gear in question? Then rig it to explode shortly after we leave?

My decision is final. He'll be kept around as an NPC until an appropriate separation point comes up.

I'm going to let Structured Time get a little flexible at this point. At beyond Extreme range it makes no sense to continue it, especially as with the sudden torrent of rain and the fact that you are on a slope (you landed at the base of the ridge), you are in Difficult terrain due to the fact that the slope is sheeting away in a torrent of mud. However, staying to pick up kit could allow the attackers to catch up, depending on how much you take and how quickly you head off. If you stay too long, I should point out, they stand a chance of getting back into range, at which point combat will resume. Tell me what you plan to take, and I'll interpret how long it would take to gather it all up, and if you get caught.
Liaka already grabbed the crash survival kit. She now plans to stay outside, surveying the situation and looking for any incoming baddies.
I would hope we could prioritize survival gear (excluding medpack since the dock has a much better one) over the carbines, but I do recognize that grenades should be classified as survival gear.
Perhaps Liaka could use her Field Commander talent (Roll average Leadership check, a number of allies equal to Presence get 1 free maneuver for 1 strain) to organize the troops and allow us to grab all the gear in an orderly fashion and GTFO before the hostiles get within range?
