Edge of Darkness OOC

By ColonelCommissar, in Star Wars: Age of Rebellion RPG

Ahh, so an opposed piloting check just before the gunnery? That makes sense! Thanks for the heads up on that, ImperialSpy. (Can I call you iSpy? I'm a lazy typer >.>)

Edit: Also, I dearly wish I had had enough XP to buy a rank in Shortcut, would have come in handy for escaping.

Rax takes a deep breath, some of his bravado returning. "Right, blue milk run. Should be outta there before they know what hit 'em."

It's much harder to do this on a PbP, but I think you all know to what I refer when I mention the GM's grin.

FilthyTraitor also works...

According to ImperialSpy the check is Competitive rather than Opposed, but then I assume they're much the same with a single opponent (don't worry, I won't make a failed check give the enemy a free attack)

The GM's grin evokes only slightly less fear than the GM rolling dice behind a screen for no apparent reason.

Sorry, I mix the two types of rolls up on occasion.

Whoops, sorry, brain fart. It is opposed, the pilot who wants to shoot needs to roll a check where the difficulty is set by the target's piloting dice pool.

Ok that makes sense. If we're all done here I'll move the IC thread on unless anyone has any objections?

None here, I think Rax is too busy thinking about getaways.

If you've ever seen Austin Powers, the scene playing out in my head is the steamroller scene: "Look out, I'm going to floor it!" *accelerates from 1mph to 2mph*

IC, Rax is slowly convincing himself that he'll make it work. OOC, I'm both cringing and rubbing my hands together in anticipation because I can't wait to see what happens.

That is a wonderful image. Cringing in a good way right?

Just as there is GM smile, there is player cringe. SO yeah, in a good way :D

"Nice, you make holoreels? When I get around to piloting something that can break the speed of smell, you should get all the footage you need."

I would just like to say Galth that Rax is probably my favourite character from all the games I've ever played. He is pure comedy gold

Thanks! I basically wanted to play a stereotypical Rebel hotshot. So I took Han's cockiness, mixed it with Luke's inexperience, and simmered over medium injustice for about 20 years. Serves ~4 TIEs or 1 Darth Vader. (To Clarify: things that would eat Rax for breakfast, not an even match >.>)

That's true. I mean IRL air combat is deadly. So perhaps I just need to come up with incentive uses for Setback. By the way, for IC actions could you describe how you want to use advantage and triumph in the post?

Hence the reason to be mindful of where everyone is. We seen it to effect in ANH after Biggs took out the TIE chasing Luke.

Oh, and then there's the squad rules in the AoR GM kit. However, that gives more to the conclusion of survival through redshirt sacrifice than the pilot winning through skill.

That's another reason why I want to get the minions and secondary characters good armor, weapons, and gear. That way they won't die so easily on us.

Second he said Blue Milk Run, I immediately knew he taunted Murphy. This never goes well for players.

I'm just hoping you and the R2 will get a chance to hotrod the **** thing.

And now we have Dack.

There's that too.

Yeah, I don't think I'm going to be scoring brownie points with the captain. He has all the marks of a great "war leader" but no common sense or ability to think off the battlefield.

I'm also pretty sure I just offended every member of 3rd platoon, but I do want to get an idea of who is or can be a medic. Ain't going to do me any good if this turns into a mass casualty event.

Just curious, is it 3 platoon, as in he is in charge of three platoons, or is it just one platoon called 3rd (Third) Platoon?

Had to change it up a bit. Meant to say that to the platoon/team, not the group.

He's in charge of the cell's 3rd Platoon. I'll call it that now (sorry, I slipped into British Army referencing)

British terminology? THEY'RE ALL IMPS IN DISGUISE, EVERYBODY DOWN

Sorry, sorry

Nah, it's cool, it's not like my entire nation was cast as the villains or anything...

I'm remind of that EddieIzzard sketch.

"What is it, Sebastion?"

"It's...it's the rebels, sir. They're here."

"Good God! What do they want, man?!"

"Well, I don't know, but they've got a flag."

Ack, that roll didn't go well at all.

Results:

Charm attempt to Weyrun: 2eA+1eP+3eD+1eS 2 failures, 1 advantage
a-a-a.pnga-s-a.pngp-s-a.pngd-th-th.pngd-f-f.pngd-f-th.pngs-f.png

Rolled just as good as bad for all of the dice. If I keep talking, I'm going into either politico or diplomat.

I think it should be pointed out, is anyone else going to be making checks? Seems like there's quite a few opportunities for that.

Rax isn't much of a social butterfly, unfortunately. He rarely goes out of his way to be charming or to make friends.

Hope you had a good weekend, Colonel!

Yup I'm back. I'll get things moving ASAP.

Colonel, regarding the map is there passage through the university block?

The original briefing, did it indicate a site for us to setup, or is that the ambush site?

Any structures open that we could perch in?

Thanks.
