Edge of Darkness OOC

By ColonelCommissar, in Star Wars: Age of Rebellion RPG

At this point you don't know that you'll be assigned together, only that you are all comrades in the same cell.

Alright, post is up.

Could you possibly edit the opening post from this thread to include the current characters? It's good to be able to open the sheets from one place :)

Done. Could you in turn fill in Liaka's Duty on her character sheet?

Thanks!

And the duty is updated. I'm assuming 10 starting duty, which I reduced for stuff. Unless we get a bit more allowance for not being starting characters, of course... <_<

I did put in a split duty, as is appropriate for an officer. Her duty is a mix of Personnel and Combat Victory. Creating conflict for her when victory could be achieved, at the cost of losing soldiers...

Nope, standard starting Duty, especially since the existing characters just went up a Contribution rank and thus have 0 anyway.

Thanks!

You can split Duty?

Mine should be at 5 since I only took a little off for 5 xp.

Also the picture from Strongholds of Resistance that I liked for Kixue's ISB sister is on page 134.

Yes, as per the table on AoR Core p 47 some characters have split duty. I imagine I'll only get half the increase for either, and mine create a game-effect for the conflict most officers get when they both want to bring their men back home, but also finish the mission.

You can split Duty, but as Kymrel observed you get the same amount and split it between them. All it really means is that your character has two areas to roleplay in.

And I see what you mean about the picture. Duly noted.

Ah I see. I may go that route, as I had considered both Intel and Counter Intel and thought I could only pick one. This is my first AoR game (more familar with F&D) soooo I'm learning as I go :)

Glad to see this picking up again, and welcome to the new players!

I was thinking about this a bit more, and what do people think about maybe scheduling certain days of the week that everyone should definitely check in and see what's going on? Not saying there can't be posts in between and stuff, but if I put reminders on my calendar to check, say, every Monday, Wednesday, Friday, it'd probably help me be a bit more consistent with checking in.

That could work. My schedule is fairly erratic at times but I try to make it a point to check at least once a day.

I was checking several times a day in the beginning. And then as those visits more frequently resulted in no updates to check out, I visited less frequently. When things got really slow, there were weeks along the way where I was like, "Oh crap, I haven't checked in like 5 days!" and then I'd check and still find nothing new.

I check my email fairly regularly, so I just turned on the notification to email me when a post is made, it helps a lot as it also shows what was posted so I know if I need to jump in. Sometimes it still takes me a day or so to check in, usually due to weekends, or if I am concocting a longer post.

I usually just pop in when the email alerts appear, which works well enough for me. I check in every day anyway, so its less of a concern for me, but I'd appreciate it if you guys made sure to check in regularly.

Email alerts work for me!

Ah okay I didn't realize there was a way to set up email alerts in that way. I'll set that up. Thanks!

Sarone hasn't popped up on the forums in quite some time, so I think we should leave off expecting him to post for the moment. Do you guys want to keep talking or can I move on?

I think moving on would be good. The only thing left is for the veteran players to tell tall talse about the time in the city and that's perhaps best taken care of with a generic description rather than a prolonged chat.

Alright, do you want to do that or shall I go straight to a GM post?

ColonelCommissar: I am looking to have N97 get the teams gear up to spec. and make sure they have what they need for the tasks at hand. This will likely include doing some item crafting. Do you have the Special Modifications book with the crafting rules? I wanted to give you some heads up so you can take your time deciding on availability of certain items used for crafting.

First thing would be for N97 to go through and inventory all the current resources available. He would check with the Quartermaster to find out the current inventory, then would also go and confirm the items/list himself. That would likely be his task tonight. If he has any time left over he will work on the next task.

Next task would be to look to get tools and an area he would use for working (slightly away from organics, as he will do a lot of his work at night). He has basic tools but needs to find/build a Welding Rod (this is the specialist tool creation on SM table 3-12). He will need to gather equivalent of 400cr of materials (rarity 4). This will take him about 12 hours to build, likely overnight, after he has the materials needed. Later he will work to get an assistant droid (Likely the SoroSuub G2 Repair Droid: B1 A2 I2 C1 W1 P1 Soak1 Wound 6 Skills: Pilot-Space:2 Astrogation:2 Computers:3 Mechanics:3 Know-Core:1 Know-Outer:1 6000cr R5 from Strongholds of Resistance p114). However he may craft some Remote Droids (from Special modifications) in the mean time to assist/work while he is on mission.

Finally he will be taking a poll from the other team members looking at their weapon/gear status, checking for needs for upgrades/mods, need for new equipment, etc. and making a list of materials needed for those items. N97 will then prioritize creation/modification of items. The characters who want the items will need to supply the materials or attachments (N97 will obviously not charge for these services as he is part of the team). If anyone needs the list of items that can be created and their costs, just let me know and I will PM you the list.

Again, these are goals that he will work on for the next week or so of in-game time, so no rush. First thing will be finding the resources available.

I will post IC for all these things so that you can respond IC, just giving you a heads up

I have the book, though I haven't checked through the rules. Outline to me what you want to do, and I'll set the difficulty for the checks as necessary. How much detail do you want from the quartermaster; with the best will in the world, I'm not going to produce a TOE for the cell for you. This is a low-tech area, so a lot of stuff will have to be scrounged, bodged or cobbled together, but I doubt that will trouble him unduly.

You can undertake the activity in the village blacksmith's forge, which he's happy to open up to the Rebels - though he may wish to inspect N97's systems slightly.

Alright, do you want to do that or shall I go straight to a GM post?

Well, since I'm unsure of the direction I'll follow your lead ;)

I'm going to give dtdunn some time to get his response together, but as I don't want it to hold up the game I'll give him until tomorrow evening and then move things on regardless.

Yeah, there's not much for Geoff to do currently. In fact, he is probably going to just have the drink, then turn in. He'll be getting up early and finish setting up an aid station for both the Rebels and villagers.

No need to wait, we can always post about the interaction with the quartermaster as a 'flash-back' (do you have a name/description or do you want me to fill it in?)
