Edge of Darkness OOC

By ColonelCommissar, in Star Wars: Age of Rebellion RPG

@Tear44: I'm a little confused. I thought modifications to weapons require tools, a workbench, and a couple hours of work before having a skill check (I know, the makers behind the game aren't looking at real world modifications here)?

Fifteen minutes ain't a whole lot of time to mess around before a brief.

The timings here are vague, so I'll allow him to roll a skill check for the installation

Forgive me, I am using the wrong terms. I am fitting the attachments and will later, with the right resources, activate the modifications.

Attachments go on for almost no effort. Modding them is the skillful work.

Attachments have a set of base modifiers that they automatically
grant when installed. Installing an attachment is a
fairly simple process (as they are designed for easy installation)
and simply requires a few minutes of uninterrupted work.

That's cool.

Ah. I must have been thinking of the EotE rules, then. Either that, or I need to refresh my study of the rules.

I'm going to head to the briefing early, if for no other reason than to ensure at least one person is there if the Captain decides to start early.

The other reason is that the Captain and I may want to have a "nice chat" about yesterday. Between Geoff being straight up insubordinate and the Captain's lack of proper command, it might be a long discussion. Might also get very loud. Possibly even physical, depending on the Captain.

Ah, I'll wait to start until everyone's ready

Ok. I just hope the rest of the team are ready.

I think the rest of the team is asleep...

Lol I snuck in a post about waking up and going to the meeting just before one of your recent posts. :P

So you did...

Well that's 3/6. Where the others at?

Edited by ColonelCommissar

4/6 now! Sorry for the delay.

Just need our droid and our propagandist.

Rax suppresses a groan as he gets up and puts on some clothes. "I really hate mornings. Or any other part of the day that's the part you have to wake up for." he grumbles to himself as he heads to the command center and takes a seat.

The coffee is strong with this one

I guess he needs a MOAC (Mother of All Coffee): Large Dark Roast with four Espresso Shots.

The breakfast of champions...

Issan finally emerged from a wherever he was hiding previously, entering the command centre with bloodshot eyes staring at a datapd. His bluish skin taking on a slight violet tone showing that the Twi'lek had slept little.

Without saying anything, and barely looking around, he fell in line with the rest of the group.

Better make it a double...

Do I have to pull a Castle and bring in one of those coffee/espresso machines? In addition to the good stuff.

I'll make that a Contribution reward

We're almost there. Where's our gallant astromech got to?

Aw, but I wanted Geoff to bring that in. That way it further cements his place a leader in the cell and possibly placate the Captain at the same time. Besides, Doc has to have his creature comforts and luxuries.

Actually, that is an excellent question, considering that he is a droid. Wouldn't CT be put with the other droids? Or would he be with the group?

Edited by Sarone

Nah, he's assigned to you lot. He'd stick with you.

CT warbles something non communicative in response...

And beep boop warble warble bleep to you too!

Just curious, is there any pictures on the net that can help describe the bridge? Or one that describes the area we will be operating in?

I'm trying to get a visual, but I'm having a bit of trouble.

Here is what I have gotten from the briefing

This bridge is used by Imperial Forces as a primary supply route. It is also use as an aqueduct for the city, though that might have been drained/stopped. Unknown if power and other utilities are used by the city and local populace.

Plan calls for the destruction of bridge via demolitions (for which we are not trained for). Target has three sets of two supports for the bridge. Our objective is to set charges at all six supports. Alternatively, setting charges at the central two supports will destroy the bridge.

Am I getting this part correct?

That's a rough idea of the appearance of the bridge's upper structure.

pontcysyllte.jpg
That's the layout of the valley. As you can see it's a high aqueduct.
The pictures aren't perfect - it's a broader structure, with paired legs. Sorry I can't provide a better idea. There are several pairs of legs, but the centre three are the important ones. All of the rest of it is correct.

What is everyone's impression of the mission so far? I'm willing to damage the bridge, but permanent destruction is going to be a hard sell.

In addition, I would like to do a combined check with either CT, Toco, or Oro for the bridge. I want to have options for the group, as ways to cause enough damage to the bridge while keeping the impact on the civilians low.

As for expanding Captain Zavvel's thinking, I would like to get him to see beyond the "next week planning". I would like to see him see a plan long term. I want to see if he has thought about how to liberate the city, take the southern base, and then keep the region free.

I would like to "elevate him" beyond common boggard officer/blockade and make him someone that understands the big picture.

Any one else feel this way? Or what are your views on it?

@Colonel Commisar:

This actually helps a bit more. Properly placed, we could get away with destroying two sets of legs at any point as long as we rig the charges at the perpendicular points above them. In addition, properly neutralizing one of the ends can also be of benefit as well, since that means we can get out f the area quicker.

I still believe, even more so now, that taking out one end and leaving the rest of the bridge intact will be better in the long run. Between proving our tactical flexibility and technical prowess, this will be a way to tie up Imperial Forces. In addition, we can use this as a way to get additional resources from the Empire. As well as pin down a piece of their forces.

I, Tear44, think the plans for strategic minimal destruction is great. You guys are thinking as an insurgency that wants to win the hearts and minds of the planet.

Toco is thinking, "They tell us the blow it up, let's blow it up."

I get the feeling the Toco just wants to see a pretty, pretty explosion.

What do you (and Toco) think of this quote: "Pretty. What do we blow up next?"

Oro is used to following orders, not dissecting them. That's above his pay grade.
