Edge of Darkness OOC

By ColonelCommissar, in Star Wars: Age of Rebellion RPG

well im a droid, so i practically am already a second class citizen...

Maybe by the Galaxy at large. That being said, the Alliance does have a bit of value on Droids.

I would just like you to know that while I'm really enjoying this IC stuff, running three different conversations in three different sections of the base on a computer is quite hard. Or a lot hard! Credit to you all for staying in character, even Tear44, whose IC flirting is simultaneously very uncomfortable and very entertaining!

I'm bringing Rax to the Mess, so that should wrap up soon.

That happens when the party breaks up for a diplomatic episode. I am sort of surprised the Imperial Spy (Issan) isn't taking a much broader role, though.

From my perspective, I'll be heading to the supply to restock the supplies used today. So far that is three stimpacks. I'm probably going to let the credits ride for a bit in order to purchase some good medical gear/droids.

Also, though it might be a bit late for it, were the injuries that Toco, Oro, and Rax have healed up? They were the only ones in the group that were in the med bay at all.

Oh, that's a point. Since you guys were in the med-bay and you've had some time off-duty I'll say you can heal up on wounds. Tomorrow morning I'll get the narrative of this episode going in full. I've got two weeks off school now so we're looking at a fairly rapid post rate on my part!

Issan is working on his own thing for the moment, he wasn't fishing out his media manipulator for nothing!

I had to modify my last post to properly introduce Rax and Doc Cohlen. Especially since I want to get Rax new nickname around the base.

Sorry if my flirting is uncomfortable. Not really chasing her, just playing Toco as the awkward lunk I think he is.

nice work guys!
keep it up!

Ok, if we are going to be looking at leading the cell, how do you all want to go about this?

There's a number of questions that come to mind:

  1. Do we want to stick to being planet side or go space side? Both have issues, as well as advantages.
  2. Do we want to "invest" and train the cell members to be more than minions? While that might mean more paperwork, I like the idea of them actually being able to take a hit and not die on us.
  3. Operations style? From the feel of it, Galth's character (Rax) is more in the mindset for rapid attacks (Death by a Thousand Cuts). My character (Geoff) favors survivability and training, with sustained pressure. What do you all want to see or willing to work with?
  4. Last of my questions: How do you want to handle the named NPCs? I want to get some focus on Doc Cohlen and the Quartermaster, and maybe make them also more then a one scene wonder.

What do you all think? I also would like to hear your perspective, Colonel.

1. Colonel planned a mostly planet-side campaign. He's dropped hints that if we grow the cell enough we'll get access to starfighters, but that's far into the future. Which is fine, because Rax needs to stuff a bunch of XP into Pilot: Space before he can make use of them anyways.

2. Training is always good. Rax will probably be terrible at anything other than "lead by example," but it might work enough for us to get our own little elite speeder team.

3. You're giving Rax waaaay too much credit. Remember, he's basically an up-jumped swoop ganger, and it shows. He's less adept at plotting the downfall of the local Empire, and more adept at "Hey, we need supplies," "Man, it's been a while since I've gone really really fast," and marrying these two things into something that could laughingly be called an "op."

4. Rax love Tookur long time. Anyone who can make a truck that souped up has his undying affection. He's also pleased as punch that the Chief recognized him (or just heard other cell members talking about that really annoying pilot from Coruscant), and is going to get that man whatever he wants so that he can get Rax simulators and starfighters.

*still waiting at the workshop to see what i see*

I say uncomfortable in a purely amused way. I'm admiring your dedication to staying in character!

1. I'll provide you with the ability to make this choice further down the line. As it is, I have plans to let you upgrade the base you have atm for greater flexibility.

2. I'm happy for you to do this, if you can work with me on providing guidance for how you'd like them represented

3. For now I'm afraid you're following orders, but that's subject to change

4. If any of you are familiar with OA1 then you'll know how a base with a full cast of characters can work. They're there for you to interact with and work with, not just as scene filler/exposition

Sorrysorrysorrysorrysorry you slipped under my radar and I apologise profusely

Rocket boosters make the best apology gifts. ;)

Man, now I need to figure out a way to trick Colonel into forgetting about Rax for a while so he can score a sweet bike or something...

haha, Colenel, it happens, especially, as you say, with several things going on at a time. IRL this situation would be so much easier :P lol

and Galth is right, rocket boosters, great call!!

Would you guys like any more conversation IC, or can I move the adventure on?

well im starting to do stuff now... :/

Hmm, true. I'll see what the others have to say, but that is a consideration

Sifting through the computer systems I immediately fix anything that is wrong with the systems. I also keep note of all the technicals of the truck in my personal banks for future reference in case we are in a situation where i need to locate a certain system quick. and i also keep note of all things that could be 'upped' if we are ever in a situation like last night again

(For the rocket boosters what page and book are they on so i can put them on my char sheet)

Since this is all fairly routine stuff without a time restriction, I shan't impose a check

That's a difficult one. I could count it as a jet pack (as per the EotE CRB:181) but given the cost of it (4500 creds) far outstripping what the others are getting in gear I'd have to see if they were ok with it. If not, I could always impose a restriction (say: take x strain per usage as the rockets drain power from your own power core)

well that post was supposed to be IC... lol... ill post it there now as well just to help things make sense

Ah, no worries. I was sure you had a plan and it all made sense somehow!

OT: So the Star Wars VII tickets are out. I'm thinking of going to the midnight showing at my local cinema, for though I'll probably end up completely knackered it would be totally worth it!

i fear i wont be seeing it at the moment. student finances are taking their bloody time!! i have no money!! (im in college and have applied for a grant)

Ah well. What can you do?

any one want to buy a 22 year old kidney?
