Suggestion: procket canon

By force kin, in X-Wing

Someone suggested this in another thread. Tried to find it but couldn't

Attack: 1

Range 1-3

Add one red dice for every agility

Small ship only.

Cost: 5

Buffs defenders and scyk.

Discuss.

Well for it to be a true procket cannon it would need to be range 1 only. And you would need a cap on the amount of damage you could add, because it's actually not impossible to boost your agility to 4 or 5 (via things like bodyguard).

But I do like the concept. :)

I like the idea a lot, I really like how it's great for the overcosted cannon carriers, but you'd never take it on the cost effective ones. It does need a maximum bonus, like we get with Prockets, and possibly Attack (focus) as well (although that's probably a bit too penal in that it will prevent you firing when you K-turn. I think it could be cheaper, when you factor in the ships that it's going on are already over priced. I'd like to say 3 points so you could have 3 defenders or 5 scyks with it in a list - it probably would need to be attack (focus) for that price.

Cheerio,

Ben

But you need to prevent it from being put on an IG-2000. For 3 points they as well get an even better HLC without canceling crits on the initial roll....

Do you need to have a focus token for it to work? I don't think this would work either way.

Blue squadron - 22 points

Procket Cannon - 5 points

Heyo!! 4 attack secondary weapon range 1-3 .......

A cheaper HLC alternative for B-wings...

Maybe if it had an agility requirement

It both has an agility requirement and says small ship only so we need not worry about Iggy.

I agree, maximum agility increase of 3 is needed and I'm not sure what kind of balancing would need to be done between point cost and token requirement, but there has to be a balance point somewhere.

Oh your right i overread the small ship only part and actually i like this idea very much.

To bring it to the point to compare:

B-wing : 2 attack dice

Scyk: 4 attack dice

Defender: 4 attack dice

So its no actual choice for the B and seems a pretty solid fix for the overcosted high agility cannon carriers.

The question however is if this is a reasonable pricing if you compare it to an ion cannon which only does 1 damage and and ion token compared to possible 4 hits for the same costs.

Edit: and i still like the option to do full damage with an ion cannon and the ion token as stated in so many possible defender fixes.

Nah, on a B-Wing it's 2 attack. Not worth it.

I reread it, makes sense. I skipped the attack:1 part. I was thinking add to pre-existing pool of red dice, which would be way OP.

Aren't prockets already canon?

I had a whole bit written up about how it would be absolutely a game changer when equipped to the Outrider before realizing it was small ship only. :P

Monday mornings, not my best time.

I like it a lot. Of course it trumps all other cannons on those ships, but that kind of doesn't matter when those won't work anyways. Maybe call it Proton Cannon?

I also wonder just how competetive you can price it without breaking the game. Are 5 ships with 4 dice cannons too much? Probably, so at 5 points the cost probably can't be pushed any lower. I would still love to test with 4, though.

4 crackshotting Tansarii's with this?

Still very squishy.
