FFG please release a separate damage deck (like dice and Maneuver tool)

By dojimaster, in Star Wars: Armada

please! Why not do this but dice and maneuver tool?

So people have a reason to purchase the core set?

Is there a problem with 2 players sharing the same deck?

The core set implies it has everything 2 players need to play.

Also you can buy the core set for less than $40 if you try really hard. That's less than the price of buying the maneuver tool + dice + Victory Star destroyer separately. And you end up with 14 squadrons and 2 small rebel ships.

Nah, but if they ever pull an X-wing they should sell the new damage deck separately.

How about a damage deck that is the same size as the Squadron Cards? My opponent hands me the cards to read back to him as the text is too small for his poor old eyes.

Please note: there are 52 cards in the damage deck so you could just draw up a table and assign each damage effect to a playing card. Ace-Spades: Structural Damage, deal another face down card and then turn this one face down.

Mind you they are allowed to App their dice, I wonder if they could develop an App that took care of the book keeping for Armada and X-Wing?

Damage decks are silly. The core set should have included percentage dice and a critical hit table. At least then people couldn't cheat by switching out the worst cards in their deck.

Sounds like you need to find a new playing group, if they are that over-committed to winning a game of miniature spaceships.

And there lies the answer why the damage deck is not sold separately.

I like the damage deck, its different, its tangible and is practical to use.

Sorry to hear about your co-players.

Prepared already my own damage deck that only has the 'boom' drawing on both sides, no crit effects available.. that will tell people! ;-)

I replaced my entire damage deck with small pictures of cats.

I only play with my brother anyway, and we share the cat deck.

If you ever suspect problems with a damage deck in tournaments ask the TO for a deck check

Damage deck cheats are "interesting". When suspecting recurrent occurences, T.O. could supply damage decks like some T.O. supply dice for Warhammer tournaments.

Damage decks don't see much wear compared to dice, rulers, and maneuver tools. They get shuffled only at the start and people don't hold on to them during the game.

I prefer they a release a sturdy, non-cardboard range ruler to go with the maneuver tool instead..

I just want to point out that players cannot share damage decks at tournaments.

RowdyOctopus makes the point, lots of people get into this game by sharing a core set and then buying expansion ships of one faction. Nobody needs two Admiral Screed cards.

is the a list any where of what cards are in the damage deck in case I have mixed some up with another player at an event?

also the deck being so big it would be hard to spot if it has been tampered with where as the X-wing deck being so much smaller you see more of the crit cards.

The damage cards are numbered, 1-52.

Your dice wear off?

So people have a reason to purchase the core set?

I have a core set - Id like not to HAVE to purchase a second so when i supply everything for my son and I , we can each play with a full deck (yes, I realize this open the floor to some great jokes - you're welcome!).

Each player should have to face the same odds on each card drawn for damage. That does not occur when sharing a deck.

Its okay if they don't (I won't rant about injustice and cash milkging at all), and like some others, I've already made a second deck, but I'd prefer to give FFG for a genuine one. Just not $69.00 with some extra stuff I don't need.

You can find them on Ebay I believe.

I bought 2 core sets and have one deck I take out of the house and the other I leave at home so I can do videos.

Wear off as in getting chipped or scratched or losing the paint from their markings. Not all games are played on playmats.

My God man, are you playing on your driveway? I play on a wood table with the occasional bounce onto the concrete basement floor.

Even the worst paint should be lasting through several years of use. The game has only been out for about a year. The most you should be seeing is a dulling of the finished surface, and some minor loss of paint. While I will agree having extra dice for a game that requires specialized dice is an almost must just to account for the occasional lost die, true ware on dice takes decades.

I bought a damage deck from eBay.

Sure the way to avoid damage deck shenanigans, is to have players exchange decks prior to a game starting.
