MC80 spoiled cards !!

Y'see, these are the kinds of Arguments-in-Parallel you get when no-one States their Variables for Experimentation.
Spherical cows in a vacuum.
The problem with x17s is advanced projectors. They interact such that projects can spread 3 damage away from the targeted hullzone.
Htt seems like a dedicated counter where x17 fails
Intel officer will always be murderous, though. Him + x17s are quite brutal
As I've pointed out, the X17 versus Star Destroyers is a plus exactly because of this, the ISD2 is the only Star Destroyer out there that can even take Projectors. That means Rebels versus SD's will nearly always (since people do love those cheaper versions with Black dice) be going against a single Brace and usually a double Redirect, so in that situation I will gladly take my chances of getting an Accuracy to negate the Brace and then force the SD to take the remaining effect directly on the facing shield, except a single point redirected.
As opposed to using the HTT which can only affects the Brace which is easily negated, while doing nothing to stop a Redirect. Unless the SD gets hit by a double Accuracy blast, in which case the two Redirects can be negated and the HTT then only affects anything if an ISD uses Brace and its fourth Crit token.

I am a player who enjoys limiting defense tokens and placing difficult choices onto an opponent. XI7's just don't force a choice to me. Sure they do good things but there are far too many variables to attach to them where the HTTs ignore some of those.
To me HTT is great when you have multiple ships punishing a single ship which means they go on all my MC30's
My point was - Both of you were making Good Arguments, but the Variables of said Arguments were different... You cannot directly compare arguments unless the variables are the same.
Ergo. You're Both Right. You're Both Best. But You're also Both Wrong.
Its like, trying to work out which does more damage... A Steel Baseball Bat to the Arm swung by my Son, or a Wooden Baseball bat to the leg, swung by my wife...
Either way, I'm not willing to be your testing medium until I know exactly what my variables are. ![]()

It wouldn't be in a vacuum if they gave us our **** ships akready ![]()
Can we just label them Xi7? The X-17 thing is killing me. Small little cuts. At this rate I'll be dead in a few score years.

So you're the isd all the rebels are chipping away at, eh? ![]()

That's the lovechild between the Lambda and the Death Star, right?

It's the interweb, there's always something to argue about.
Did I mention X-seventeen?
Personally I'm probably going to lean towards using the HTT.. I have ordered several MC30's can't wait for some broadside shenanigans.

Wait till we hit the 17th page. Then I will listen to your argument.
I find it interesting that so many Imp players are working out how to gear their ISD against the MC30. In our local the Rebels are a massive minority so if you were looking at a comp list your priority would still be how to kill another ISD/Victories etc.
I'm also in the camp of dying to know how much the MC30 is going to be... I'm wondering if it will be equivalane to a corvette, more shields but black dice rather than red etc.
Currently I'm thinking I could do 3 ships with squadrons at 400points or 4 ships without squadrons but when that 4th ship is a NEB which doesn't synergise with Akbar or a corvette which is really kinda nyah compared the MC30 I'm struggling to see why I would want the extra ship.

Argue about the cards that come with it...
Beyond that they've missed the boat on the actual ship. Noone will care much about the actual reveal beyond the support cards.

You nailed it. My perspective is predicated on Home One and long range. I've put my Ackbar Slash build in the fleet forum, so you can go see exactly what I'm trying to do. For that kind of build XI7s are the clear and superior choice. XI7s are painful to far too many ships, especially with Home One around. At the higher damage totals we are discussing, they are going to more consistently get through shields and kill ships faster when your ships are hitting the same target.
However, you are exactly right. That is simply my perspective. I don't really understand the type of build Lyraeus is thinking. The idea of intentionally going into medium range with an ISD is anathema to me. But under those conditions maybe HTTs with those Ion Cannons will work better for what he has in mind.
I feel the Slash is a very bad idea. I don't think it will work against the double ISD and friends lists.

I agree. It's nice to see the ship cards, but I'm excited to see the other two title cards, especially the Independence, as someone who played X-wing--the computer game--back in the day.

Well the Scout version will be more expensive. It has 3 black dice like the GSD 2 and 2 red dice while having 3 more shields and 1 more standard speed. Oh, not to mention that it is possible that it can have Turbolaser upgrades as well as ordinance and gunnery teams. It does have 2 defense tokens but 2 of each though none of them are a brace.
It does have 1 less forward battery and 1 less anti-squadron compared to the GSD 2 and 1 less hull, no brace.
I think it will be more expensive than the GSD but not sure by how much

Depends on the "friends." I'm not afraid of double ISDs and a glad. I'm just as fast and vastly outgun them at long range. I worry about a Rhymer ball more than anything actually. The list is very light on fighters to get that much firepower out of the capital ships. With Intel in the mix, the A-Wings will have a hard time with a good Rhymer ball.

It would be fine if it was somewhere between a corvette and Neb B. Ultimately I don't see the Neb-B fitting into Akbar builds with a focus on broadsides so I wonder if this thing would replace that.
My take on this beast.
It comes with Gunnery teams built in! We've seen what the arcs look like in the preview - the front is narrow which means unless the Imperial fleet is in a giant clump you should be aiming to have two targets for the side batteries most turns.
It points directly at the enemy table edge and cuts them in half. Flanked by Redemption on one side and Salvation on the other. I call this 'The Spear of Destiny' ![]()
By flying at the ISDs you negate their speed advantage as they will whiz past you if not careful. But best of all due to the good turning at speed 2 you can deploy it as a broadside to fake the ISDs into a high speed attack run. By turn 2 you will have turned to meet them head on and their navigate command will be 3 turns away behind all those conc. fire commands ![]()
It's really going to come down to how you fly it. The two broadsides give you threat options an ISD doesn't have (ISDs are very predictable).
It can also be built into the most tankiest tank ever with Raymus + Redemption + Eng. Team + ECM + Adv. Proj = utter madness capable of face tanking multiple ISD front batteries!
