The Fleet, the squadron, and the soldiers

By Folkenhellfang, in X-Wing

I'm sure this isn't the first one of these, but I was kicking an idea around to merge the three games into a narrative campaign.

Start with a round of Armada: Nominate one ship in each fleet, when that ship is crippled (destroyed) the game moves to the X wing round.

I was thinking that the X Wing round would be a scenario where the winner of the previous round would try to land a strike team on the crippled ship.

Obviously, the last round is played out as an Imperial Assault game. My problem is the first round puts up some clear risks and rewards, but does a simple 100 point X Wing game do the same? Should the second round have some kind of effect on the final round?

These are the questions I pose to you, dear folks of this forum.

I like the idea, has more replay value than the 3 linked battle of endor games that has been mentioned occasionally.

You would, I think, need to come up with some sort of rules to govern delivering the troops in x-wing. House rule bombers or hwks into boarding shuttles or something. Then, the number of forces the attacker gets in the IA game depends on how many boarding shuttles/pods/whatever that they managed to get Into position.

Nice but it would be hard to make a lasting narrative campaign that has all three game systems linked. Especially when the scale from Armada to X-wing is so drastic and the scale from X-wing to Imperial Assault Skirmish is even more so.

Seems to me like you might be getting into these complications
