tie/fo turret?

By TheOz, in X-Wing

So we have all seen the turret on the tie/fo in the ep7 trailer, but our new core set doesn't give that option in any way.

What does everyone think, is the idea of a tie turret to crazy or hard to work out and will be left out of the game for balance reasons?

Or

Do you think we might see some sort of tech/mod/title that can make it work? if it does, what are your ideas for this upgrade.

Personally after watching Alex Davey in the team covenant interview it seems he doesn't want to say no to any type of ship or in movie cannon upgrade.

So I had an idea, maybe it's too crazy or not crazy enough lol

First order auto turret

Tie/fo only tech

At the start of the combat phase, choose an enemy ship range 1 ( even outside your firing arc) that ship rolls one attack die and suffers the result.

2pts

Too good, not good enough, never gonna happen, perfect; ) lol

love to hear everyone's original ideas

The TIE with a turret is a special forces TIE. Likely to be a separate release.

Turrets have to come out overpriced to compensate for the advantage

Even 2ndary turrets (y and hwk) are hilariously overpriced before they take a swt upgrade

Plus they tend to have crap dials (hwk, y. K)

So I'm leaning towards the possibility of "absolutely broken" unless abbhorently overpriced

Op's idea could possibly show up as a Tech upgrade

My problem with a special forces expansion is well....WHY? How many mid-low point imperial ships do we need in this game, original tie, tie interceptors, tie advanced, advanced prototype, now tie tie/fo. I think a special forces title or tech in a tie/fo expansion is a much better idea from a game design standpoint. And if it is over costed why make it, we are talking about a ship that's all about point efficiency. I think a cheap and we'll designed upgrade makes more sense for the game. But hey that's just my opinion

To make a cool unique model. I'd rather see it as its own ship same as I wanna see the black squadron T70.

Because the special forces TIE looks different.

Because it's not imperial it's "the first order". It's like a separate faction that can merge with imperials so it's like starting from scratch. Same with the new xwing, we already have the rebel ships up the yin yang but we still get a new xwing because it's like starting over. Sure we don't NEED anymore ships but then again we didn't NEED another trilogy either. It comes with the territory, new movie release=new ships=more fun for us=profit for ffg and Disney. Also to corroborate what others have said the tie with a turret is indeed a special forces tie fighter.

Yeah but those will probably just come in the regular tie/fo and t70 expansions as pilots and titles and tech. And I think those expansions will have some cool tech upgrades because they are the only ships with the tech slot and none of the wave 8 stuff have that

Imps have no small based turrets the special forces tie could be our first, or it could have an auxiliary arc the first of its kind.

Tie fo is a bust but hopefully tie cog will be good.

I think it will not be a turret per se, but rather a tie with with 2 90° arcs - much like the Firespray

You bring up a really good point, who knows it's all speculation anyway

Needs to be firepower three though.

I can see that too since it has the double cockpit

There could be a tech upgrade equivalent to hot shot blaster. Or a tech upgrade turrent tax like the sycck title.

This post does bring up something I hadn't considered...what it we DON'T get a different TIE "cog" model? We didn't get new models for the E2 B-Wing or BTL-A4 Y-Wing, even though those mods would suggest larger cockpit modules. Under this theory the "cog" features of rear arc and probable shoulder Cannon would just be title upgrades.

Still, I think this is unlikely. The "cog" should be a recognizably larger model, and would most likely need a rear auxiliary arc printed on new base tokens. Plus, it would be yet another ship to fill a slot in a future wave and make even more money.

It's more than the turret the wing sections have those cogs and different engines.

I think it warrants a different model.

Yeah, but it's still named the same. First Order TIE Fighter vs. Special Forces First Order TIE Fighter. They're both still First Order TIE Fighters.

After all, the Royal Guard TIE Interceptor didn't get a new model even though they clearly have extra fins on them in the lore.

I think the comparison there is quite apt. Both the Royal Guard Interceptor and the Special Forces First Order TIE Fighter take a regular ship, and just add on a bunch of extra components to trick them out for their elite forces.

I'd be completely satisfied of the Special Forces TIE was just a Title upgrade for the TIE/FO. And I'd be really happy if this Title was just in the TIE/FO's expansion pack.

I really hope they don't just give it a Turret slot though. I want them to save that for the TIE Aggressor. I'd rather they got an auxiliary firing arc or something.

Can't wait for an Imperial TLT carrier, finally Ruthlessness would be worth using...

Perhaps that at some point after we will have all the movie ships, they will not allow the synergy between imps and Fo, or Rebels and Resistance, so we would have 5 independent factions. Maybe we see this synergy just for a limited time until they can bring out enough new content to make their own factions. Just another possibility...

The difference between the royal guard TIE and the Special Forces TIE is that one is Canon, the other is not - what i mean is this: one you will see in the movie, the other does not show up in the movies. The fact that we got a new model for the TIE/FO is pretty telling, to me, that we very well may get the TIE/FOSP (cog) as a separate model. FFG could have just painted the original TIE in the new colours.

Really? Cause I think the fact that the FO TIE got a separate model makes it LESS likely for the COG to get it's own. Since they JUST made a 2nd TIE model, it seems less likely that they'll make up a 3rd.

we have seen less than 10 seconds of it in a hanger.

It's got the ties main guns a turret and a weapon on top that's clearly enough guns to justify 3 attack.

And we really don't need another 2 attack craft.
