Hello there

I am here because I wanted to put forward a proposition for a Play-by-post game here on the Age of Rebellion forums. Well, actually two games: one set during the Galactic Civil War, and one during the Great Galactic War. But more on that below. As you’ve probably guessed the games will revolve around Age of Rebellion, with Duty as the main mechanic. However, I’d encourage you to pick species, careers and specialisations from across all the books for the game, although Obligation and Morality will not play so much of a role.

I’m offering two games since I assume there’ll be a fair bit of interest, so without further ado here they are:

Edge of Darkness [Edit: game full] – This game is set during the Galactic Civil War. The players are a strike team of Rebel operatives, newly-assigned to the Rebel cell on Ankor II. The resistance cell is still growing, and greatly in flux at this point. The PCs are thrust into a world of intrigue, conflicting loyalties and questions on the direction the Rebellion will follow, all while trying to survive the cut-throat politics of a Rebel cell that lacks control. I was going to go for a slightly grittier feel on this one, though not too far.

The Oncoming Storm [Edit: game full] – This game is set during the Great Galactic War. The players are an elite group of operatives working for Republic Special Forces in the tenth year of the Great War. The Sith onslaught has paused in the Outer Rim, and both sides are gearing up for what they know will be a major offensive. The players are thrown into the intelligence war in this period, and must fight for the security of the Republic. This game will be a more ‘noblebright,’ heroic-type game. It will also be a Knight-level game, to allow for characters in the style of those shown off in SWTOR (if you haven’t played it, just watch the cinematic trailers for all you need to know in what I’m thinking of).

I’m looking for a maximum of 6 players per game, a commitment of 3 months, and a minimum posting frequency (OOC if not IC) of once every 24 hours. If you need time off then that’s fine; just let us know if you'll be gone so I don’t get worried!

I'd be down. Slight preference for Great Galactic War but would not be opposed to the GCW.

I'm intrigued by the Edge of Darkness campaign. Would either a doctor or quartermaster be out of the question?

Not yet for characters. Once I've made sure everyone's had a good chance to put themselves forward (about 48 hours after I opened this thread) I'll close the bidding and get game-specific OOC threads open. Then you can properly roll up characters. For now though I'm very happy for you to discuss character concepts.

Well, I'm up for playing a Rebel Ace. Pilot of Hotshot, not sure which yet. Essentially, some kid from one of the core worlds who saw the Death Star footage and got really excited about it. Essentially "Hey, that could be ME!"

I would be interested in participating, although english is not my mother tongue. I am quite sure I can handle that (my english is not bad at all), but I would like to remark that before there are unpleasant suprises

Ah, I forgot: As additional Information, I am interested in playing "The oncoming Storm". Played both parts of Kotor and TOR as well.

I'm open to any form of character; if you can justify it, I'll take it. I do have some exceptions but those are very minor. However, I would reiterate that given the military focus of these two campaigns you might wish to focus characters towards that.

I'm interested. Prefer the Galactic Civil War one, bur will do either.

I've seen a lot about play by post games, but never done one. Is there a good resource or example of how they work, particularly dice rolls?

We've been using swsheets to store our character sheets (http://swsheets.com/) and Orokos for online dice rolling (http://orokos.com/roll/). Other than that, welcome to the game!

when do we start?

I've got no definite idea on a starting time. Once all spaces are filled or a reasonable time has elapsed (probably Monday evening or Tuesday morning) I'll close applications and open up the OOC threads. There we can discuss character concepts and get things set up for the start of the game. Once all of that's ready we'll begin.

Well, so far it looks like we have 4 players for the GCW campaign. I've already mentioned that I want to play an Ace Pilot or Hotshot, and we might have a doctor or quartermaster from Sarone. What are the rest of you guys thinking?

I too would like to put my hat in the ring for Edge of Darkness. The other one sounds interesting, but I enjoy the concept of a burgeoning rebel cell more.

Allenowen, I'm afraid we're all out of room in Edge of Darkness. However, The Oncoming Storm still has room if you're still interested?

For your information, I haven't played AoR/EotE as a player yet, only as a GM. I hope that that's not a problem.

On top of that I only have the EotE-Corebook and Enter the Unknown near me at the moment so I'll probably play a character with an EotE-class and specialization. In my opinion, such a character could fit in pretty well in a Republican special operations team, as the Republic will probably be very low on resources...

If the above is seen as a problem, I'll withdraw my application. No problem. In that case I'll wish all of you much fun with the campaign!

Perhaps it would be a good idea to open the OOC for Oncoming Storm, too- so we can start discussing our character choices.

(I would love to play a Zabrak Shii-Cho-Knight. If not possible or not matching to the rest, I would switch to Commando/Heavy)
