In my game I am one of 5 PCs and I am the only force-sensitive. I am playing a Sentinel/Artisan whose philosophy of the Force will eventually be that each individual should maintain balance within themselves by not overly relying on the light or the dark side of the Force. The GM and I are trying to figure out what kind of mechanical benefit he might gain from adhering to his beliefs, similar to paragon status.
The game is set a year or two after the destruction of the second death star if that matters at all.
We don't really care what is or isn't canon about greysiders, the goal is to tell a story about a force-user who carefully and intentionally walks the line between light and dark. We want to figure out how to model this mechanically. Here is what I've come up with so far, but it's kinda boring/bland and I'm looking for other ideas.
-
Morality must stay between 40 and 60
- Yes, this is only a 20 point band, instead of the 30 range for light or dark paragons. That is intentional. I feel it should be harder to walk to the middle path.
-
I am contemplating tracking # of pips used each session (and over lifetime) for light and dark
- I don't know what we'd do with this information, but maybe there could be something interesting?
-
Increase wound and strain threshold by 1 each.
- A hybrid of the light and dark side paragon benefits.
- Using dark side points does not inflict strain.
- Using dark side points does not cost a destiny point.
-
Using dark side points will still cause conflict.
- We do still want to represent that it is easy to fall to the darkside, so we're thinking of keeping the conflict system as-is.
So, what do you think of the above proposed mechanics AND what would you change OR what system would you use instead?
