How many ships should we get!??! Yay!!!

By Blail Blerg, in Star Wars: Armada

Gods, I am so excited for 400 points and so many more options. I can't decide how many ships I should get!

Is 1 ISD enough????

What about 2? I can easily see a list of IIVG at 400.

What about IIVV too! Should I get a second Victory?

And raiders. Ugh. How many is a good number. I have no freaking idea. I'm starting with 2. I don't want to run raider spam. Meh. Not that interesting.

For rebels:

I'm being more barebones on this side cuz I'm low on money.

3 Assault frigates?

2 shrimps?

Probably gonna hold off on the MC80 cuz of cash.

Nah you definitely need 5 isds I did the math and statisticly speaking 5 is the number that will give you the most enjoyment per dollar:)

Well, I've got one ISD and two Raiders on pre-order.

I imagine I'll pick up the squadrons pack when I TO one of the Sullust events. I hope to pick up an ISD at one of the two other Sullust events that I'll be attending.

5 MC30's. . . . MWUHAHAHAHAHA

Someone's got a shrimp fetish.

I'm just going to buy one of each Imperial expansion for the variety. If I buy multiples of anything it might be the squadron pack in case I want to do a carrier spam list just for fun. If the raider turns out to be a better escort than the Gladiator, maybe I'll buy a second.

Also if I get the desire to do some custom Zeon paint schemes...

Woah dere, hold yer horses. We don't wanna' trip o'r any assumptions, dontch'a know! 'Specially when we don't even know what dem Squidlies' ships are gonna setcha back. Best wait for dem spoilers 'afore makin' any plans.

-laughs- It depends how you like running your fleets and its theme... ahh, who am I kidding: theme is pretty much a relic of the olden days when we're talking about collections. Is this a complete list, done and done with all previous waves, or just 'what first'?

IVVG/R sounds potentially workable with some cut corners but I was having trouble finding a way to fit in IIV+anything in fun combination. Bah, I think the great and powerful Clon king is onto something here: you need precisely 5 Star Destroyers for maximum happiness. For 5, a Heavy Squadron makes, and lo' 5 shall be the maximum number for thee (seriously, 3 in any combination ISD/VSD is probably good. You can have a wall of 5 VSD's I think, but that's a bit of a one trick pony. Best ponies have more tricks, metal skin, hyperdrives, magic, defensive refits...). Patrol ships, frig, don't ask me; I get crazy in wishlisting squadrons of escort class ships. Until we hear more, I'm gonna keep my trap shut when it comes to numbers.

Bare bones Rebels, hmm. Well, 2 RAF's and -clears throat- MC30's are a good start. MC80's sound like they might be slightly beefier RAF's, so the potatoes might be able to take their place in the line. Until we know more, it's hard to say. I didn't think ISD's would change things as much as they seem set to.

All I know is that there's 2 ISD's, 1 RCVT, 1 MC80, and 1 MC30 with my name on them (and another 1 RCVT, 1 MC80, and 1 MC30 pending). As a sort of artificial ceiling, I've got a self-imposed limit of points that I can own at each wave (for Wave 2, it's 1,000 points for each faction); otherwise there's a risk of going full Collectron. I've got a serious holdover from my other wargames in that I want to organize everything into neat and tidy little squadrons. Maybe I should give 1/7000 true scale a try..

My gaming pal pre-ordered one of each. I'm happy with that decision. I don't know what we'd like so that's a good place to start... and it prevents us from sinking endless cash into something we may not like.

But we'll definitely like them. Let's be honest. Big Bases! MORE FIREPOWER! Let's make that 6x3 seem small!

POWER!!! UNLIMITED POWER!!!

-Sidious reaction to the first ISD

5 MC30's. . . . MWUHAHAHAHAHA

Someone's got a shrimp fetish.

It is bad because one of them will be painted like a shrimp. . . The others like piranhas

I pre ordered 1 each of the big ships 2 each of the smaller and one of the rouge transport/freighter/fighter types.

I'm getting 4 MC30s and 1 MC80

I've ordered 4 isd, 4 raiders, 2 mc80, 3 mc30 and 1 rogues. Cos i found them very cheap.

If anyone in the uk is still looking, board game extras has isd for £26 now which is the cheapest i've seen them yet.

When all is said and done, I'll probably want 2 ISDs, 1 MC80, 2 MC30s, and the rogues. I doubt I'll get that altogether, but that's my overall plan for the wave.

How many ships should you get?

Easy. Take the cheapest variant of each vessel, and divide 400 by its point cost, discard remainder. That's how many ships you should buy. :P

I've got 2 of each on order. I want whoever I'm playing with to have a fair range on the side of their choosing. Prefer Imperials myself and just couldn't say no to a 2nd ISD. Hopefully Sullust will force me to buy a 3rd of something to keep that balance :D

I have one of each and two rogues & villians on pre-order. A second ISD is on my wish list, but it can wait until after I have the funds for a nice custom ship order.

The only valid reason for skipping Home One, is being an Empire only player. Skip one AssFrig and get an NC80.

All of them. Every single one.

It's only a question of how long we can live as an ascetic hermit to afford all these.

I'm not super sure I'm appealed by the mc80. We'll see. Maybe later.

For beer'n'pretzels play, I am buying one of each set (rebel and imperial) and 2 raiders.

There isn't really a 'meta' in Western China, so I don't have to spend to keep up. A buddy and I are having fun pushing around spaceships, drinking beer and eating cookies.

1 ISD, 3 Raiders and 2 MC30

That flying s** toy... I'm not sure yet

Lemme ask also, who do you play in western china? Do you guys speak in chinese during the game? Or are you all mostly westerners that are in china?
