New Core Set, Wave 7 and Epics, Keeping up with the Joneses...

By Admiral Terghon, in X-Wing

That's $28.50 for one title and one system upgrade plus $33.85 shipping vs $150 for the Raider (NZ Prices in case you're wondering). Neither is really a great deal :/

I'd pose the question as "call me when I can get 2 each of the TIE/x1 and ATC upgrade cards for about the price of a single small ship". For reference the TIE Advanced is $25 NZD and an Aces pack is usually $50 NZD at the local game store.

Having said that I assume the discussion about the good vs bad of bundling the TIE Advanced fix with an Epic ship has been done to death and I have no interest in reviving it. I can make tournament lists without the TIE Advanced and can probably proxy the upgrades or borrow them in casual.

At eBay prices, you might as well just buy the expansion pack, take out the cards and throw the ship in the trash...

I can make tournament lists without the TIE Advanced

Sure, but you can't make a Maarek & Juno list without the Advanced.

And if you can't make a Maarek & Juno list then WHY DOES THIS GAME EVEN EXIST?!

It's gotta be said, but Autothrusters currently coming in Scum only is par for the course.

But if they do a future reprint of the TIE Advanced without adding in the x1 title... that'll be pretty brazen. There's gating excellent cards, and there's knowingly selling dud ships that have a $100 purchase price to make viable, y'know?

Least they could have done was put some Autothrusters in with the TIE Advance Prototype...

They never change the reprints of their products, though. Otherwise they would have included errata versions of cards like Expert Handling and Luke Skywalker crew.

Yeah, best you can hope for with the Advanced is that there's one in a future Aces pack, and one would HOPE that it would come with x1 and ATC.

But, since the Raider more or less IS the Advanced's aces pack(packaged with a huge expensive anchor), I'm not going to hold my breath.

If I wanted to go the copy-cat route and just use some of the lists that were winning at Regionals and Nationals I found that the price tag keeps going up. To run those lists, I have to buy a lot of ships I don't fly (and don't want to) just to get cards. This didn't seem to be the case for the first four or so waves.

Easy solution: don't go the copycat route.

No need to be slave to the groupthink.

Don't forget the even easier route, if you just want cards: Ebay!

Just finished reading the two preview articles for The Force Awakens Core set. I'm concerned that newer ships have maneuvers available on their dials that simply didn't exist before. That's even harder to keep up with then buying cards on ebay. If Tallon Rolls and Segnor's Loops become dominant in maneuvering, how can an older ship compete? Do you guys think there'll be upgrade cards that allow an older ship to perform these newer maneuvers somehow? Like: "Segnor's Signature: turn any Speed 2 Hard turn into a red Segnor's Loop maneuver."

Edit: Also, kept looking and comparing the new TIE/fo versus the old TIEs to see where they had dropped the Swarm keyword... then finally realized that was the TIEs in Armada, not X-Wing. :)

One. One new maneuver - the Talon Roll. We've seen Segnor's Loop before.
