K-Wing turret swap conversion

By Babaganoosh, in X-Wing

Here's a simple K-wing conversion I did with my two K-wings. I cut off the nose turret with a razor blade (careful not to slice your fingers if you try this at home), and reattached it under the middle engine facing backwards.

Nice!

Now it reminds me more of a WW.II bomber with a belly turret ...

Nice paint job too!

That's looks great, I was hoping someone would move the turrets around, thanks.

Did anyone play Wing Commander 2 back in the day?! The K-Wing totally reminds me of the Broadsword Heavy Bomber anyway, and this conversion amplifies the effect considerably!

This was really a very easy conversion. It took about 10 minutes all told; but removing the turret from the front can be tricky because it's hard to get a good hold on the ship and cut safely - at least with a simple razor like I was using.

The paintjob was with 'adeptus battlegrey' paint from citadel, with a simple drybrush with a light tan paint followed by a black wash over the whole ship. The yellow stripe on the wing I painted using some masking tape.

Nicely done!

FWIW, Tamiya and several other companies make photo etched saw blades. Very thin and cut on the pull stroke like some finishing saws. Most will fit in a #1 Xacto handle. Might be easier and safer than using a razor.
