Possible upcoming ornance fix?

By Azrapse, in X-Wing

In the new Rules Reference, page 20, there is this paragraph:

When an Upgrade card is discarded, it is flipped
facedown. The card is out of play for all purposes
except when determining the total squad point
cost of the ship to which it was equipped. If an
Upgrade card is flipped faceup by a game effect,
it returns to play equipped to the same ship.

There is no upgrade or ingame effect at this time that makes use of that rule. So probably they will come with something that will. The first thing I can think of is on a Reloading upgrade that reloads torpedoes, missiles and/or bombs.

What do you think?

Edit: I'm aware of the missing 'd' on the topic title... :(

That's a really interesting find. It definitely feels like future-proofing to me, since it doesn't interact with any current game effects. However, I feel Wave 7 provided most of the "ordnance fix" that was needed, so I wouldn't hold my breath for this to indicate anything big coming soon. If Wave 9 includes a missile boat, gun boat, or support ship that could conceivably help other ships reload, then I'll get excited.

Don't some of the huge ships flip down upgrade cards when they take a crit from out of their specific crit decks?

Ah, they put the upgrade cards underneath the crit card until the crit card is flipped.

Still, I wouldn't get too excited. In Star Wars Armada, some upgrades are exhausted instead of discarded.

That would be cool. Sounds like a good crew or pilot special ability.
