Questions

By Farin2, in Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay

WE all have questions....and they NEED answers from Jay....so Jay.....a few i know of and ik more will get posted....but

1: Demo Video - We all want to see one and you have the power to make one....so yes we arnt asking IF.....we are asking WHEN....so....when?

2: Card size - we assume standard size......but if you could fill us in..

3: Book lists - will the careers, talents and powers and other things like that be in the books in simple tables with info on them?

4: Collecters edition - yes or no...will we see it?

5: Adventurer's kit - will it hold more then one extra player?

if anyone else has questions for Jay post them.....do not post doubles so read everything before posting and please also keep the questions to aspects of the game, dont ask "why did you mess with my game system?".....that is a different topic then what im setting up here. thank you. and to Jay...please answer the questions....we deserve a little something

Sorry, what is this fixation on this board of seeing a video demo of a role-playing game being played? I don't know about anyone else, but I find any web video needs to be about 3 mins long, and if someone wants to get a good feeling of one of my role-playing sessions, then I reckon they'll have to watch for .. oh .. 2 to 3 hours. And what works in one group is very different from what works in another group. It's not Ticket to Ride with a 3 min web tutorial.

As Farin said.

+ official "Answers To Your Questions" thread that could be updatet by You Jay, where questions from this forum could be answered.
No need for another FAQ pdf.

+ if some demo SCENARIO (If video is too much to make) like in Rogue Trader case, we could hometest, before we buy the game is planned?

If the question can not be answered at the moment, just write "I can't tell you yet", or "you need to wait till release to learn that".

We are Your clients, we deserve some answers Let them be simple "yes/no", or "I can't tell", but let them be.
We know, You can't tell us everything we want, but there are some things You can.
Diaries are good, but they not answer some of our questions, and often generate new ones.

yes i agree Jay, we love the diaries but we would like some answers

6: Will the parts of the core set be available for individual purchase? like if i want more career cards to do around or something

Questions I would like answered! 1 A complete list of the careers for the Core Set and Adventurers Kit, so we can have a better idea, where FFG are going with them. 2 How and when do you get the advanced skills. 3 How armour and waeapons work in the combat system, and will there be the equivalent of Ulrics Fury, which made combat dicey, for even the best armoured dwarf in v2. 4 Will there be enough difference in the magic system, to represent the major differences between Human and High Elven magic, even at the most basic level. 5 Will the gamesmasters book have some of the interesting detail that was found in the Warhammer Companion and Death on the Reik, on herbs and trading etc. 6 Will we have to wait for the 3rd edition equivalent of the Old World Armoury, to see if FFG have solved some of the money problems inherent in V2, or will that equivalent be in the Players or Gm's books from the start. 7 An idea on the feel for the upcoming campaign, codenamed Operation Thunderbolt I believe. 8 A publication date! Cheers, in hope

Hopefully would be covered in a demo video, size of cards has been mentioned, I expand the question

How big a space will a player (and the GM for that matter) require for all the sheets, cards in play etc as we are not certain what size the components are. On first guesses you are going to need a big table for four players. Will the space required hamper bigger groups. Not a very exciting question but a very practical one.

Jay, are you enjoying your responsibilities as line developer and playtester despite all the demands of your rabid, zealous, and cantankerous customer base? If so, that's a >very< good sign of things to come. That's all I want to know for now.

again this has nothing to do with the game at large please post only question that are about the game its self and all that its parts

A point on #5. What do you mean, "will it hold more than 1 player?" ?

We know officially that the Adventurer's kit has just one player keeper box. So, in that sense it only 'holds 1 player'. However, even in the core set you can likely actually run more than the 'target' 3 players. It just may require some sharing of a few cards (like the basic action cards), and the occasional talent cards if multiple players have the same talent (we don't know how many of each card are available, though), plus the limitation of keepers. So, #5 isn't really an answerable question. The Adventurer's toolkit provides a lot more careers and cards ... but I don't think the number of players is necessarily restricted to one additional (realistically), even if the 'target' is a single addition.

good point. thank you for clearing that up : )

I have one:

Will all the stuff on the cards and other helpers be present in the rulebooks as tables or the like?

Or will it only be via the cards and helpers you can get the information?

I don't care what people say, I stick to my guns:

And after all I think Jay owes us a session demo video gran_risa.gif

this is a re posted question.....please post an original question. Thankyou

So, I took the initiative and asked them directly. I compiled most of these questions into a list and gave it to them. The answer (Thanks, Jay!)

Greetings Derek -

I keep up to date on the forum threads, and have read many of the questions the community has regarding WFRP.

All I can say at this point is "stay tuned." As more designer diaries are posted, more of these questions are being addressed. And additional details will be coming the closer we get to the official launch and release of the core set.

One question I can comment on with this is that there are currently no plans for a separate Collector's Edition. Players will already have their hands full (literally) with the core set it's a mammoth boxed set. The box is is approximately 4.5" x 9.25" x 11.5" and weighs approximately 6.5 pounds.

Cheers,

Jay

So, unfortunately, all the questions here are currently unanswerable in a "hush hush, we don't want to spoil anything" way. Except for the question on the collector's edition. The impression that I get from this response, is that they are reading the forums and are trying to design some of the upcoming diaries to answer the questions we are posting. It was wonderful for Jay to respond, even if he didn't give many answers.

Wow, thanks for this news. The box will be in normal size like I can see but it will be heavy (with lots of goods). Can't wait for the release date.

im still i nshock over the 6.5 pounds of stuff....thats just awesome!!!

Will we see the demo adventure - "A Day Late, A Shilling Short" as a pdf file on the FFG site?

When will be WFRP released? When can we buy it?

My thoughts are that, eventually the demo adventure will appear on the site. It might not go up until the launch date, however. It depends on whether they think the information in the demo adventure will spoil anything.

As for release date ... since the "pre-launch" event is Nov 13-15, I would expect the actual release to be no more than a few weeks afterwards. That said, Amazon (I know, not the most reliable for dates) now lists the date as Nov 30th. This actually fits pretty well with when the pre-launch event it. So, I imagine the last week of Novemenber/first week of December is a good approximation.
