I know this may come off as nit-picky, but why do the new X-Wings have the ability to Tallon roll? That was a TIE tactic.
Tallon Roll
I don't think Tallon Rolls are in the films are they?
Tallon was a pilot and strategist who served the Republic, transitioned to the New Order, and eventually defected to the Rebel Alliance. IIRC, he was on the team the developed the specifications for the A-wing. It seems like the Tallon Roll is an equal-opportunity maneuver.

I mean, if I'm in an X-Wing and I see a TIE Fighter do that, I'm going home and PRACTICING.
Do you have a source on it being a TIE tactic?* The first time I remember reading about the Tallon Roll, it was in the Rebel sourcebook for the old Star Wars RPG. The Wookieepedia page on the maneuver has the diagram from that book, and it shows an X-wing using it against a TIE Interceptor.
*Edit: If I'd read the WP page I just mentioned before posting, I'd have seen the part at the end that says, "Because of the tight spaces within the Death Star II's coolant shaft, various TIE squadrons were forbidden to utilize this technique in the event that they had to pursue the Rebels down the shaft." So it appears it was a TIE tactic (just not at the Battle of Endor), but it wasn't only for TIEs.
Edited by PandademicThe first time I heard about the TRoll was in the rogue squadron books as a maneuver Corran, Tycho, and Wedge frequently performed

Yeah, but it seems weird that they've mastered the art of barrel rolling while K-turning, yet a barrel roll while moving forward is still too complex for Rebel pilots.
