New rocks and other tokens

By Hawkstrike, in X-Wing

So I picked up the new core set today (at a regular Target that wasn't open at midnight -- the X-wing set was on a bottom shelf and a bit hidden but there were about 8 there).

Just started unboxing and noticed that there's a new set of asteroids -- different shapes, and including a new large asteroid. Wonder how that will be handled in the tournament update?

Also there's an initiative token (more attractive than the Armada one, with an X-wing on it). The new templates have the S-loop and T-roll on them. Plus there's some revised satellites and a "squadmate" ship (the old Senator's shuttle token) for missions.

The rest looks the same. ID tokens are 1 through 6 and TLs are A through E.

Asteroids will probably be allowed in the next FAQ, so players can now choose 3 obstacles from 12 asteroids and 6 debris fields.

I'm curious to know how they plan on enforcing one damage deck over the other If you field FA ships must use new deck, otherwise old deck is ok?

I do welcome the variety of asteroid selection.

I hope they allow the debris from the Raider too!

The rules would permit those asteroids. They came in the core set. You might be able to make an argument that all of your Asteroids need to come from the same version of the core set though.

"Each player must include exactly three unique obstacle tokens of their choice
in their squad. Players must select these obstacles from the six asteroids
included in the core set and the six debris clouds included in the YT-2400
and VT-49 Decimator expansion packs"

But, but, but... what about the obstacles I bought on EBay. They are so much cooler looking. Why don't they count. :(

As long as they have the same base shape as the current obstacles, they should be able to be used, but up to the TO. If not the same base, place them on top of one of the regular obstacles and wallah! -- usable obstacles.

From what I understand about the two different damage decks, if you have the new deck you must use that. Otherwise continue to use the old one.

And the new rocks are flipping huge too. Clever way to help push large ship's down a little bit, make the rocks even less friendly. ;) I do really hope we can choose from ask the rocks we have though, and I also want to be able to take the debris fields from the raider.

MOAR TERRAIN!
