New Storage for Core and first 4 waves

By Tekwych, in Star Wars: Imperial Assault

Go 7 Gaming has announced their new IA storage insert for the original FFG core box:

Our Imperial Assault insert is colossal! It’s the largest box insert we have designed to date, consisting of 14 storage trays. Each of the trays is designed to be pulled out of the box for setup and we have designed token trays for use during play. We designed this insert to store everything from the base game through Wave 4. This includes Twin Shadows, which is required to store the map tiles (once you place the components in the insert). Best of all, if you own all of the expansion content (through Wave 4) and extra dice, you will still have room to store even more miniatures! Well, more miniatures excluding AT-STs. The insert can handle two AT-STs and that’s it.

This insert includes storage for:
large cards (sleeved or unsleeved) – one tray
small cards (sleeved or unsleeved) – two trays
dice – one tray
doors, stickers – one tray
play and setup tokens – two stackable trays
miniatures – seven trays

54.00 is a lot but there is a lot to this storage solution. Check it out at Go7Gaming

Very nice. If I was going to buy an alternate storage solution, THIS would definitely be the one. Very, very nicely done.

****, this looks really nice. Not a lot of stats though; I can't tell how many minis it holds. I have a few multiple sets.

3 trays - 20 standard figures in each (2x10) reconfigurable if you do not glue dividers

1 tray - 2 AT-STs

1 tray - 10 over sized figures

2 trays - 12 standard figure slots in each (4x3) reconfigurable if you do not glue dividers

3 trays - configureable for counters and dice

3 trays - sleeved or un-sleeved cards (2 sizes)

1 tray - larger counters.

everything is sold flat pack with assembly required. Assembly is very easy but lets you adjust, to a limited extent, how the system fits your collection.

So 84 standard minis and 10 oversized, plus the two ATs. I think that might be almost exactly right for my collection. Doesn't leave any post-Twin-Shadows space really, but still.

Thanks for the stats.

Yep, this is perfect for me. Lots of options for storing things my way (great room for the minis, too! Wow!).

I never thought of just using the smaller TS box to store just the tiles.

It's such a simple idea and it will keep my tiles much safer without having to worry about the other game components damaging them.

Well done!

Not sure if you saw this on their page but they will make another one for the next big box expansion:

"FFG has promised a big box expansion in Wave 5, so expect a new insert design from us around that time to handle future expansion content."
This was another selling point for me. Cheers!

Yeah, I saw that, just worried about space for the wave (or two? I can't recall) before RtH. But it's still an amazing design. I'd already moved my tiles to the TS box actually, it's like it was purpose built.

Yes, the TS box is perfect for carrying any tiles I need for a tournament. I wish I had it at GenCon this year; it would've made things much easier.

Right now, though, I'm still using the basic Plano 3700 boxes that I've used almost from the start. I like it that I can keep each entire faction in its own box; that makes it much easier to find what I need. Furthermore (and not everyone has this much space), I have an entire shelf set aside to store my IA stuff in my game cupboard. [Yes, this game is that significant in my house...it gets its own shelf.] If I was short on space and didn't mind carrying and opening the big Core box every time, I'd jump on the storage solution presented in the first post of this thread. But for me, ease of access and modularity are more important.

This is beauiful. Been anticipating this and it is everything I needed

love it, well thought out just cant justify spending $120 on it to get shipped to uk....the cost of the postage is more than the value of the item :(

As you know, we sell direct to consumers. We do this for a variety of reasons. Primarily, we do this to offer you the lowest possible prices. However, once you factor in international shipping, things can get expensive fast when shipping outside North America. While we all wait for teleport technology to be perfected, the best we can do is offer you alternatives closer to home...
We would like to introduce a great Scandinavian game shop that stocks many of our products - snydepels.dk.
Being located within the EU means avoidance of customs for consumers and lower shipping costs as well. Give them a visit and if they don't have what you need on hand, let Kenneth know what you are interested in. I'm sure he will be happy to ensure he has enough on order to meet your needs.

I have my tiles in 4 ziplock bags Numbered 1-10, 11-20, 21-30, 30-39 -- As soon as I got the Twin Shadows Expansion I put them inside, fit perfectly even in the bags. All of my things, plus the Twin Shadows box fit in my corebox and I have almost all of the Expansion minis in there as well. The downside, which I need to fix ASAP, is the mini's are just in bags and rub against each other which I am not a fan of since I spent so much time painting them...
