My only complaint about the new set

By eagletsi111, in X-Wing

Why the booklet and not the card for explaining abilities? I like the card idea, because it's very easy to update with more cards. I was hoping on getting a new Cloak, Talon Roll, Segnors loop, etc cards in the set. Sure they fixed cloak, but now I have to bring this book along. And the book clearly states that Golden Rules, that card abilities override the rules written in this book. So according to this if you don't bring a FAQ with you describing the new Cloak ability and someone brings the old Cloak card, it overrides the rule book.

I was really hoping they would give us a fixed cloak card.

Oh well!!!

This has to be one jaw-dropping set if that is your only complaint.

Someone said they don't give you duplicates of non-unique upgrades or enough even for the ships provided. Can someone confirm either way?

Well the old cloak card then is overridden by the FAQ, so no harm done there. New things will still come as new cards. I quite like them including all the new mechanics we got so far in printed version.

The set is fantastic! My only complaint is I want 4 of the Guidance Computer and Wired instead of just one.

I believe this is correct. Is also true about the original core set (only got 1 copy of Marksmanship and Determination).

Yes! I only have that complaint. I love the set it's very well written and the books are clear and concise. I don't mind they they have the books, but the card are just so much easier. They should have added the cards too. Books can loose pages and be ripped the cards are sturdy, plus they could have added a cloak card. It just made sense.

This is how they do the rules now. The quick start and rules reference books.

They didn't actually cover everything. The newest bombs are not in there, for example.

It only makes sense though that the new rules would really only cover what is in the new core set. They aren't going to buff everything out in the new booklet and overwhelm new players is my thinking there

My only complaint is the T-70 doesn't fit in my X wing slot in my battlefoam.

There are only five upgrade cards, and each is different. One each torpedo, elite, and tech along with two astromechs, both unique.

I'm a little disappointed by the lack of tech upgrades, considering all three ships can take them.

Don't worry the single T-70 and TIE FO expansion packs will have more. They have to give you some reason to buy them

That's what I thought too. Mind you, this isn't that big of a complaint. But if I had to complain, I wish it came with a few more new cards or more of the ones that it did come with. I see myself proxying in friendly games until the expansions come out.

Why did they give us more of those satellite tokens instead of new debris clouds? No one uses those satellite tokens as they are not valid in standard.

My complain is the fact they made this new "tech" upgrade, instead of adding and developing more the "system".

tech = system with only 1 card to fill it. ;)

One Weapons Guidance, one Wired, no generic Astros are my complaints. Probably gonna grab my third TFA core in the next day or so, so the issue will be moot.

Lucky sods. It will probably take until the end of the month to see these TFA cores here in NZ

My only complaint is that I haven't gotten it yet. I will get it from my LGS so they'll have it in a week or so.

Why on earth would you buy 3 core sets? Wouldn't it be wiser to buy the expansions when they come out instead?

Some people like to form entire squadrons, or not at all. :)

I'm just hoping to pick up a set at all.

i believe this refers to cards like pilot abilities and upgrade cards, not the rules reference cards that come with expansions

Another complaint is that the unique pilots' names are pretty lame/unimaginative (except for Poe). Maybe they were really restricted by Disney.

Aces and leaders is not enough for you? :P

Well look at it this way, at least some matches will fall closer to cannon with generic names for unique pilots. I mean how many time do we have to kill Biggs? :D
