Can we bury the T-65, then?

By mtrein, in X-Wing

I have to say I was expecting some kind of uplift for the old T-65 in the new core set. Should I lose hope, or will it be coming in a T-70 expansion? What do you think?

It will be coming.... just when is the question...

you mean 'bury deeper' right?

it's been dead since the B-wing rightfully put it out of its misery :P

The named pilots are still good at doing what they do for the points. You're still getting mileage out of Biggs, no matter what sort of upgrades the T-70 will get, as long as they don't have a Biggs. Wedge is harder to fly then the T-70, but he's still Wedge, and pays for himself pretty well.

Poe Dameron gives Luke a run for his money because of the flexibility of his ability, but he still requires a focus so he can be denied via bumping or stealing, so Luke's ability to get his effect no matter what is still useful.

Yes, they're pretty deep already.

Some of them are still ok, but mostly for casual play. As things stand, though, I doubt we'll be seeing T-65s in tournaments at all (which were already kind of rare anyway).

The T-70 is more expensive than the T-65

The T-65 still has very good named pilots so will never be completely dead.

The T-70 is more expensive than the B-wing

The B-wing is imho one of the best and most versatile ships in the game.

The B-wing will never be dead.

The T-70 is still cheaper that the E-wing

The T-70 has 1 more hull, comparable movement and good pilots

The E-wing, well, the poor E-wing might fade....

I would wait for the blister release of the T-70, that might have something X-Wing only that fixes the T-65 and gives the T-70 options. Who knows what that could be.

If that doesn't bring it there is still room for an Ace pack that is themed with the new OT era movie that is coming.

E-Wing will still show up because Corran Horn's ability can be clutch in a few situations, and Etahn A'baht will show up to do novel things like boost the occasional Z-swarm.

Which, to be fair, is no different than now. Nobody flies generic Es or Xs and that's fine.

They can take the T-65 when they pry it from my cold dead fingers.

Why is that fine? Many other ships have perfectly useful generic pilots. Why shouldn't the X or E?

You can bury it, sure, but you'll feel pretty foolish when the "fix" comes out next year. ;)

The E-Wing is rare and not having it flown by generics is a way that represents that. The X-Wing is way more thematic as a vehicle for characters. Biggs and Tarn are both pretty good and costed at generic level.

The T-65 is as dead as you decide to make it.

The T-65 is as dead as you decide to make it.

If we're looking at a point by point comparison, the generic T-70 pretty much makes the generic T-65 worthless. The point differential isn't enough for you to lose a swarm, and you gain the boost and the dial changes for a point premium that is significantly less than trying to get similar effects elsewhere. As I mentioned myself, the named pilots will still show up sometimes because they're unique in what they do, but the already ailing generic T-65s are going to see their death knell, which I believe is probably what the OP was thinking about without considering the edge cases on the unique pilots.

Alex Davy already said some love for it was coming, so no, no burials yet.

Only E-Wing that mattered in standard play is Corran. The E-Wings never got going.

I am still hoping for a Rogue Squadron Aces pack.

But, plenty of the uniques are seeing play. So, it isn't as dire as many are saying. Luke and Etahn have also had good results in major tournaments.

While I think nothing will happen to the named T-65 pilots, that's kinda like saying your passing game is as dead as you want to make it when your quarterback doesn't have arms.

Looking forward to dusting this old guy off:

Wedge Antilles (29)
Push the Limit (3)
BB-8 (2)

Total: 34

Yes, a 3 action a turn Wedge who can end a turn without stress. Pick a green maneuver, barrel roll, Push the limit (TL or Focus), move, green maneuver clears stress. Then you maybe perform an action after your maneuver. So grab whatever action you didn't do. Then vaporize something.

Wedge Antilles (29)
Push the Limit (3)
BB-8 (2)

Poe Dameron (31)
R5-P9 (3)

Luke Skywalker (28)

I'll take this squad against anything.

We'll get our expansion announcement within the next couple days. Maybe today.

Cool combo, but you also could do that with any T-70 that has an Elite slot. Definitly worth trying out, though, looks like a lot of fun.

it's a lot better on the T-70 because of thrusters shoring up defenses

unless PWTs die out (please oh please) wedge is simply not going to live long enough to matter, fancy tricks or no

TLTs also do a number on him, and while BB-8 certainly gets him around obstacles it won't get him into the doughnut hole. T-70s have boost for incredible shenanigans; wedge can get it but at a morbid price hike.

for anything else, though, PS 9 "they see me rolling" Wedge is a killer

Oh, right, having boost is a big big deal for the whole thing. Didn't think about that. Makes the T-70 a lot more appealing to me, pretty cool. Hopefully there will be a PS9 pilot for it.

I like Poe + R5-P9 and Autothrusters more than Corran + Anything. Really thinking Lone Wolf on Poe is the way to go.
