I'm having a really hard time being ok with IG-88. A guy I know keeps beating me with a pair of them and I know I'm going to sound like a sore loser no matter what I say, but I'm not upset that he's beating me, it's how he's beating me. They cost roughly as much as a TIE Defender, they've got as much evade as a TIE Interceptor, they're large so they're not really worth trying to ion, they get free attacks with cannons, they've got plenty of hit points all together, a built-in boost action, a free evade token and when combined with autothrusters it's even worse. I mean, the old Rebel and Imperial large ships have none of that. The Falcon has only two native actions, and to add the Outrider title is five points before you even add the cannon. To blend all the IG-88 talents is free! Even the Phantom got nerfed and then these **** things come along. I know I'm whining, but I feel like the IGs are way over the top, close to the point of spoiling the fun of the game. Am I alone in this?
Is IG-88 broken?
I admit brobots with stealth devices scare me. My Tempest AC's have real difficulty getting through 4-6 dice(depending on circumstances).
Procket them, you'll feel better.
I don't think the Aggressor is overpowered, but I do think it can do just a little bit too much. My main objection is a slight (and petty) one in that it 'stole' the Starviper's signature move, the S-Loop, in the wave in which it was released.
It's been suggested among players I've met that Autothrusters might be better if limited to small ships only, which would also help curb the IG a bit.
Is IG-88 broken?
Have you tried turning him off and back on again?
nope, balanced
the IG-88 is a high performance ship with two incredibly crippling weaknesses:
1.) fat ass (obstacles, ho!)
2.) a single firing arc, making it hilariously dependent on red maneuvers (and means you can cripple it with stress)
it's a ship you have to outfly, not outroll like a PWT
even flying something like Dash or Han against an IG-88, you can't just rely on your 360 arc. Both have to arc-dodge, Dash has to abuse the **** out of his ability and Han his Ps 9.
I've found them to be pretty intimidating and frustratingly hard to hit - 2 Fat PWT builds really suffer against them - but just keep shooting with 3 attack value ships and they'll go down.
BBXX - BBBBZ - BBBX style builds hurt them badly - Vader and Maarek with ATC laugh in their faces
also:
Flechette torpedoes with munitions failsafe
Use Conner Nets to park them on rocks and win.

You just contradicted yourself.
Edited by CelesAlso, the title isn't free. You have to bring another 36+ pt ship for the title to do anything.
They are fine.
R3-A2 will shutdown an IG. Once you pile 3 stress tokens on one, its pretty much screwed.
btw, I really shouldn't be sharing because **** PWTs, but Cheri has a "secret" weapon (about as secretive as smallpox after the phantom, but still)

I did not
the case presented was PWTs versus aggressors
PWTs cannot out-roll the aggressor's statline + thrusters, so if you engage in a straight joust the aggressor will reliably out-roll them
out-rolling PWTs (not Dash, who is a SWT with outrider) is the only way to beat them, and the aggressors can acomplish this reliably thanks to their innate states and upgrade options. Therefore, as a PWT player, you better be able to dodge em
Edited by ficklegreendiceOther than the Shuttle, it's the only large ship with a standard firing arc. Combined with its speed, IG-88 has to work hard to keep targets in front of them.
AdvSen and bumping helps with that, but the IG-88 is not an easy ship to fly. It's potent when flown well, but crumbles and struggles to find shots against arc-dodgers and stress/panic lists.
My suggestion is to play it for a while. You'll quickly notice many weaknesses (which have been pretty well outlined above) and be able to better exploit them.
I ran it in a tournament and while I was satisfied with its performance overall, I found out that Dash Rendar is the Kyrptonite to a VI-less aggressors.
Sounds like someone is sooking that their turret builds don't automatically out math something.
Learn to fly or expect to be beaten by IG-88s, cause flying is what they do.

technically, PWTs don't out math much of anything unless the enemy is dangerously low on the ship count
the problem there is dice are fickle **** and PWTs are therefore the ship-type most prone to winning through sheer luck ![]()
the aggressor's, however, match the PWT's reliability with thrusters, a system slot (can take FCS), an ept slot, and their own version of gunner; they exceed the PWT's raw stats with HLC (four dice at all ranges) and additional agility at a far cheaper asking price (partly because of base cost, partly because of built-in boost).
basically, it is still technically possible for rngesus to throw a hissy fit and have even perfectly played aggressors crumble to **** dice, but that chances of that happening are low especially compared to your typical swarm ship. This gives PWTs little else to do other than fly their fat butts as well as they possibly can

Uhhhh...
My buddy runs IGs all the time and I typically run imperial. What I've learned is below.
1) Stress - Most builds rely on their actions, giving them stress can shut them down. Rebel captive is particularly annoying to them.
2) Arc dodgers - I often fly Soontir against my buddy and can almost take the IGs down with Soontir alone. The large bases are easy to get in arc. I've personally found that targeting computer works well. Play a little conservatively and it's not too hard to stay out of arc. The Targeting computer gives you the rerolls to consistently punch through the IGs greens and evades.
3) Get B off the board. Once B is off the board, the game is pretty much over, IMO. B's gunner like ability gives IGs enough firepower to make up for their expensive cost and single arc. Once B is gone, the remaining ship is an overpriced sitting duck. I'd use Vader every turn just to get B off the board.
4) Brute force - Whisper with Gunner and FCS will wreck IGs. Throw large quantities of dice with plentiful rerolls.

he doesn't know about the new bombs, huh
?
IG-88 hates Rng1 furballs, it cancels the HLC and makes his tight hard 1 turns really difficult to pull off, not to mention stopping the pre-boost for evade shenanigans, get in their face and your chances go way up.Thats why the excel against PWT's because PWT's generally avoid the same areas as IG-88
