So for those of you who now have the new core set...is there anything in there to revitalize the old x-wing? Or has it officially been wiped from the table?
Old X?
Has there been an astromech to save the T-65 yet.
too offensive to see
There's still 2 more SKUs, so don't give up hope yet!
There's a significant change to the rule book regarding ship type exclusive cards that means anything "X-wing Only" will work on both the T-65 and the T-70.

okay so that leaves title or modification, or astromech, I doubt torpedoes will be the T-65 saving upgrade.
However if X-wing only encompasses both T-65s and T-70s why not just go with the T-70s? 3 more points to spare?
Edited by MarinealverWill the remaining SKUs just be the T70 and TIE/FO expansions?

Edit: or not. Didn't see that they had an article up for the new core. With the announcement in that article that the core set will now be shipping to other retailers besides Target we should find out very quickly via LGS owners if they can order the other 2 items as well or if it will just be the Core sets initially.
Edited by Galactic FunkProbably. Wave 1 of an FFG miniatures game pretty much always includes the Core ships.
Wouldn't be surprised if the TIE is a Cog though.

C'mon! Force Guided Torpedoes. - They can turn 90° and hit targets outside your firing arc.

Huh, so you saw this too?
would like to be able to put the old X wing pilots in the new ones!!

Yeah, but if said card is good, why wouldn't you just put it on the superior T-70 instead?

Indeed I did!

I don't think he used the force to make the torpedoes change direction, I think they were deigned to do that and they are like bombs.

Nah. Magic space wizards.
Edited by DarthEnderXMaybe said card would provide a boost that the T70 has naturally. Like granting 3 shields (as opposed to adding a shield) and adding boost?
Would be interesting to see an X-Wing only upgrade that benefits the T-65 more than the T-70 and thereby fixes it, but also gives new options to the T-70. This should be the goal for FFG. I as a non game designer have no idea what that could be, though.

Well if that's the case, then it doesn't really matter if they can both take cards that say "X-Wing only" on them if the T-70 gets nothing from it.

Indeed.
It'd have to be something like "+2 shields, to a max of 4". so the T-70 still benefits, but the T-65 benefits twice as much.

Well a 2 point upgrade would still allow 4 T-65's in a list but wouldn't allow 4 T-70's so it could do the same thing but be better on a T-65 cos you can have more.

Exactly. And thats really all the T65 needs: An extra hitpoint and some post-maneuver repositioning ability.
As a casual non-tourney player, I think I'm just gonna glue the new printed maneuver templates over the old ones and play my T-65s as T-70s anyways (I always play with reference sheet anyways). As least on two of the four I own. They've been gathering dust forever and I don't feel like buying yet another 1 or 2 Cores & end up with a surplus of X-Wings minis.
Same for my Tie-Fighters

I think the rule is clarified specifically becasue the x-wing only wouldn't have worked in the old errata for Tie Advanced. So that suggests the Mod/title will be usable on both.
It may say "gains boost if it doesn't already have boost + ....." Or as I said it might just be cheap enough to make 4 T-65's viable but not 4 T-70's
YES, I have a slew of Xwings (probably at least 7, looking for some love) in casual games, my rebel crew chiefs may be upgrading these to T-70 status. same old model, but new improved stats. casual only, of course.
Hopefully, there will be a card to level the field a bit, the interview with Davy gives me hope that this is the case.

Right, but what I'm trying to say is that you could make an X Wing only upgrade card (a title preferably) that you COULD take on both the T65 and T70, but that would simply be a waste of points on the T70 because it already has those abilities.
Something like:
The ship has a shield value of 3 and gains the boost icon in it's action bar.
You COULD buy it for a T70, but why would you?

Or the opposite - has the drawback of preventing your ship from doing boosts, or reducing your shields to 2.

Well, FFG did do exactly that for the B-Wing when they gave us Nera Dantels, so I guess they could do it for the X-Wing as a precedent has been set.
