The T-70 is pretty good as far as i see, the only little thing is that at 24 points you cant play 4 with autothruster (which would have made them great instead of good).
And then when you consider that FFG withheld the blister SKUs from this...

Edited by BeattyYep I went to the target this morning that did not have a midnight release, they opened at like 8...I couldn't make it there until about 9 (I figured all the crazy people who HAD to have stuff would have went the night before). But basically there wasn't a thing left worth buying. So to all those who questioned my saying there would be scarcity on this product, I was right. Every target in my area is sold out and theres already copies of the set on ebay for 80 bucks. Plus, all the black series figures were gone. I literally think 2 or 4 guys went in, and bought up everything cause I saw a few people with huge bags of just star wars stuff they beat me to it.
S1n,
When was the last time you read a story in the press about something you actually are a bit of an expert in and they didn't get much of it totally wrong?
Nothing you have written tells us the whole thing wasn't FFGs idea in the first place. You have a lot of general impressions and assumptions informing a intuitive leap that could be correct, yet you are way too convinced of your own position and certainly being too aggressive about it.
What I don't get is why. I'm certainly passionate about supporting LGSs and much of that comes from experiences from a long history of hobby disappointments. That drives my comments here. What is it that motivates you to comment on this?
Checking Brickseek ... only one store among dozens in the entire Northeast Ohio area has sold out of TFA Core Sets — it was one of the three Targets that did midnight openings. One of the other two midnight opening stores appears to have sold no TFA Core Sets and the third store appears to have sold three. Few of the rest seem to have sold any at all.
So, like, if anyone needs a new Core Set, you know where to go. Cleveland is flowing with milk, honey and Core Sets.

I broke down and went to Target this morning and talked to the cashier. He said the customers were buying a couple hundred dollars worth of products at a time. So yeah, Target either seriously under estimated their sales, which is hard to believe, or it's another Black Friday gimmick. (Promote a Big release or sale with limited stock to to draw customers in but if stock is out they hope they stay to buy other items. Either way it means more sales for the store.) It's an old sales ploy.Yep I went to the target this morning that did not have a midnight release, they opened at like 8...I couldn't make it there until about 9 (I figured all the crazy people who HAD to have stuff would have went the night before). Yeah i'm not too surprised, there's always going to be people willing to binge spend like that. This wouldn't have been an issue if it wasn't target exclusive though, now i'm going to have to wait weeks for them or someone else to stock it. Which is a bit discouraging for a new player, if only I could i'd get the old set for 15 bucks...people who found that one on clearance way back were too lucky.

Weird. There was easily a half dozen when I went to Target at 1.

Weird. Went to Target.com and checked on all the store's that I haven't heard about and even the store where I saw the last one leave the shelf showed it as In Stock online. Either that thing updates only every so often or the Store has product sitting in backstock.

Portland is Geek City USA so no Milk and Honey here. Well maybe the 10 or so Game Stores maybe a plus with game stores that sell Beer! Cleveland has a strong gamer community. There are at least a dozen FLGSes in Northeast Ohio that I know about. The problem is that X-Wing is dead here— everyone has moved on to other things. There are three of us on the west side of Cleveland, a few people on the east side of Cleveland and about eight to 10 people in the Akron area. It sucks.
Other parts of Ohio, particularly Columbus, have good X-Wing communities, though.
That sucks. Hopefully with Episode VII X-Wing will find life again in your area.
Follow-up from earlier post. I went to a Target today at 8am (this store did not open at midnight) and they had a relatively small section of stuff out. 4 core sets were in stock so I got what I went for. There was actually a Disney rep there who asked me if the shelves were that bare when I got there when the store opened at 8. They were. She was taking pics to report back to Disney on the store status and the Target team was still stocking shelves with pallets of product in the aisles and semi-opened boxes. Doesn't seem like they were prepared. There we no lines outside the store and no one at the register. She mentioned that the Toys R Us stores in the area had lines 100+ deep.
If you don't see it on the shelf - ASK.

"It's not a Big deal. Again read my posts"
what's the title of this thread?
yeah.
...and you went to how many Targets looking for the core set?
yeah.
hyperbole AND hypocrisy...well done ![]()
Target is actually trying to move in to the tabletop game market a lot more agressively than you think. My Target has games that my LGS has been trying to get for months to no avail.True but having a box store have exclusive rights on a popular game like X-Wing is suicide if they don't get it into the LGS's soon. Target doesn't care one bit about games and orders won't be big enough. Watch, by the end of the weekend most forum members won't be able to get their hands on one because their local Target is out and won't get any in for a while. It will be a total fiasco.Walmart exclusive coulda been worse.
Or Disney Stores only.
Get the Gam Stores involved fast or there will be a lot of pissed players.
So much this. Granted I haven't been looking that hard, but I've been keeping my eye out for exploding kittens, and the other day when I was trying to find a gullible target employee to fork over the new core set early, there was a whole stack of the adult, nsfw version of exploding kittens. In the toy/board game aisle. Sweet.
Ahem...
WE ARE A SMALL, NICHE MARKET THAT DOES NOT MATTER!
We're not even the majority of X-Wing consumers, let alone Star Wars merch buyers. They've sold what, hundreds of thousands of Core Sets and there's maybe 150-200 of us that post on these boards? (I'm including AFM and such). We're a fraction of a decimal point of a percent. It is actually in our best interest for them to focus on the broad market big box stores (you know, the ones with customers in them, unlike most LFGSs). That way the game we love sells enough copies for them to keep making it. The fact that FFG cares at ALL about the "enthusiast" (I MUST have spelled that wrong), is amazing and honestly it's kinda silly to grouse about this kind of thing.
Ok I know Target worked something out with Disney for first release but from the sounds of it there is not enough stock to cover a real release. Now the Game Stores weren't even told about this new Core Set and besides those who climed over each other to get their's what about the rest of us? (sic)
This release is honestly the stupidest marketing idea and we need the rest of the world to get a piece of the action asap.
I drove to the nearest Target after rolling out of bed at noon. Leisurely walked around the store, checking out school supplies and the card section.
Went down to the toy section and grabbed one of the three core sets that was on display. Saw the FORCE10 text coupon offer. Looked around for 10 bucks worth of toys I would get for free. Strolled to the front of the store and made my purchase.
Went home to watch cartoons, eat and **** post on forums.
*I picked 3 of the Star Wars Hot Wheels cars. Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader, and C3P0's Drag Bus.
Edited by VulfI got the core today at Barnes and Noble, following the tip from Lordfiredeath. No Target stores in my area so I cruised over on my bicycle and was pleasantly surprised to see it there

So indeed major Retailers only. Now Barnes and Noble I can understand as they have carried many X-wing products. Target well I think after the core set maybe they will stock up on some for the launch of Episode 7 and hopefully make a display to get more players. But for the most part they will be marketed as children's toys for now instead of a table top game hobby.
In germany hobby stores say they can sell it from 09.16. so i expect US LGS to ahve the same release date. Not too long to wait if you dont want it from target.
The Target nearest me still has about four core sets.
I'm not impressed enough with the new core set to buy it immediately from a place like Target (it would take a lot of new upgrades and things to get me to buy a hobby game from a department store like Target). I'm fine with waiting for it to come to my FLGS, even if it's a few weeks from now. Still recovering from the expense of Wave 7 a couple weeks ago, anyway. Besides, there's still like 10 copies of the new core set at my Target. Nobody goes to Target to buy hobby games, especially when there are 3 hobby game stores in my town. I really hope these new core sets go to people who've never heard of the game, and create new hobby gamers out of them. ![]()
My LGS took my pre-order Friday morning at 20% off. Said they should have them in a couple of weeks. I'm in no hurry.
