nope

Stood out in line in front of Toys R Us for over an hour and NOTHING. They allowed each person to grab THREE of any one item. The first guy and his wife each grabbed EVERY BLACK SERIES FIGURE they had available.
No X-Wing.
No Black Series TIE FIghter.
Huge waste of an evening.
Yep, thats why I didn't go...its like black friday...just nonsense panic buying.
I waited in line at Target for 15 minutes, walked in, grabbed a core set. Other than a few dudes who tried to buy too much of stuff (limit 1 on everything), it was extremely orderly and nothing like Black Friday in my store at least.

Standing in line at Toys R Us and expecting to find X-Wing stuff was a pretty big leap of faith though. It was confirmed to be at Target.
I was at TRU primarily for the Black Series TIE Fighter. X-Wing would have only been a bonus, as my Target don't open til tomorrow morning.

Sorry Crabs.

2 different Walmarts and a Toys R Us without any luck...
Uhhhh...wow.
Those are really stupid looking?
I mean - no offense, the photos are *fantastic*, just...wow. That's...uhhh. Huh. Hmmm.
I just realized how ridiculous the new X-Wings are. They have what look like Jet Turbines, but with the wings open, each turbine is split in half and couldn't possibly function.
What, like you didn't watch either of the 'JJ-Trek' movies?
"Rule of cool" is how he works. Anyone with even a slight engineering or logic background that tries to pipe up with a complaint about the ridiculousness of something => fired.
Was told the new core set was a Target Elusive. You guys are getting them at other stores? And after how long until games stores will have them? Kinda of a slap in the face to game stores.
The TIE/FOs are a new model, but don't have the cogs seen on the Special Forces TIEs.

Jet Turbines wouldn't function in space anyways, so there's that.

Seeing the X's side by side... the new sleek is nice, but it still doesn't top that functional look of the T-65.
OMG, I love the look of that X-Wing, I think I'm in love...
The new model from TFA is ok too, I guess.

As far as it seems, it isn't really exactly a Target "exclusive". Just seems that Target is the only store with them right now. I've seen no reports of someone actually getting one at a different store, but the package is not labeled as an exclusive, so it seems it might be a limited time thing only.
As to a slap in the face, I guarantee you that FFG made zero decisions about the distribution. This was all a Disney run release event, and Disney could care less about game stores.

Right, exactly.
It's the same thing he did with the Star Trek ships. I mean, the originals - whether you liked a design or not - they at least looked like they made sense. Like...what is that big dish? Oh, sensor or deflect or something. That row of hatches? Ah, escape pods, right. Giant dome in front of the nacelle? Okay, some kind of collector of something.
JJ-Trek...what are those...well, they LOOK like windows, but are about 3 stories tall? Ummm...hmmm. Or...wait, why are there rows of vents all over everything? WTF? Alright, whatever, at least those struts...orrrr...who came up with that weird curve in all three dimensions to them - you couldn't even RUN a straight access tube up that...etc
Well when looking at a lot of the stuff from the new film, functionality does come into question a lot. From the engines on the T70 x wing, to the triple bladed lightsaber...which would have to be wielded with the utmost care. At least the Tie fighters look reasonable, then again not much has changed with them aside from color. I can see how people would bring up how the interior is now all hollow to hold two pilots...whereas the cutout interior images of the original tie had a ton of functional industrial design to it.
Can someone who picks up the new core set post the upgrade cards as well?
Really curious about the new tech upgrade

Actually if you look at this more recent image:

the engine turbines look like the design is a bit different. Also, the hull on the above x wing is lighter in color..less grey and closer to white. But the turbines definitely don't look like they will be rotating in that pic. It seems there might be some slight variation among the t-70 x wings.

Hmmm - that one definitely DOES look a lot better.
At least not an obviously-useless design, then, although you did still have to scratch your head at why they'd make something so perfectly symmetrical...that cannot possibly be connected. Like...what's the point in that?
Complaining about engineering in a fantasy space opera universe, you make me laugh and sad at the same time. We just had 3 Star Wars films with ships like the N-1 and droid fighter, please stop whining about minor changes. The designs look like natural progressions to the old ones, and the models looks sweet ![]()
They're 'Fusial Thrust' engines....duh!

The rationale behind the old X-wings was that you have several engine systems for hyper, space and atmospheric conditions respectively. In a design which might work (new technologies assumed).
The system you currently not need is idle (idle turbine part when in space where there's no air).
But the new T70, with that the jet engine look-alike, that might be intended for atmospheric use, it will never work, cause there is no possibility to split the rotor part into 2 halves, neither any rationale why one would want to do so.

Maybe that's what the cogs are for, there is the engine ![]()
Stupid design, really. ![]()
There were storm troopers. I was scared and fled from them - like in Imperial Assault.
Can someone who picks up the new core set post the upgrade cards as well?
Really curious about the new tech upgrade
There were only 5 upgrade cards: Wired, BB-8, R5-X3, Proton Torps, and Weapons Guidance. The new Tech, Weapons Guidance costs 2, and says:
When attacking, you may spend a focus token to change 1 of your blank results to a hit result.
Only 5? That's disappointing. Thanks.

Why is that disappointing? The original core set only had 5 as well: Determination, Marksmanship, Proton Torps, R2-D2, and R2-F2.

Edited by s1nBlaming JJA for the split engine of the T-70 X-wing seems out of place.
To me it seems more like they honoured Ralph McQuarrie and picked up on his original design.
