Given all the Star Wars hoopla, I think some would be asking why FFG didn't have its act together and have some X-Wing out there.

As for Target vs. LGS? I'd have released at both, but MAYBE FFG owed Target a favor for all the original core sets it had to clearance out, and Target gets first crack at a limited number of core sets, and then they are out of the mix.

No one knows for sure.

I'm just glad FFG has something Star Wars out there on Force Friday. I hope it grows the game.

I'll complain about anything.

Meh, I'm not ready for new releases personally so I could wait till Christmas and be quite content.

They didn't have a choice. There is no way to get stock to the LGSs without violating the NDA to not publicize it until tomorrow. It's a simple matter of logistics, either the LGSs wait a few days to get it or everyplace waits a few days to get it.
